Can two families share Memory Maker?

I have a family trip of 8 people going to disney world. The reservation is split into two separate reservations. Does each reservation have to purchase their own memory maker?

I have already purchased the memory maker under my reservation

I have the person who purchased the other reservation linked in my disney experience as family and he shows as being able to purchase my photopass photos.

Will all pictures, including ride pictures, show up in my memory maker no matter which magic band gets scanned for the picture? Or is it only my magic band that will work? Or only my magic band and his since we are the owners of the disney accounts that are linked

I think it CAN be done if the reservations are linked. Meaning in the Disney system, not just MDE.

We just returned from WDW and had 2 rooms (5 people total) and I made sure they all showed up being able to view and purchase my photopass pictures on the MDE website. It didn't matter which band got scanned the pictures showed up. No problems with even the ride photos that you don't have to go to the counter for anymore. I had one son in each room and when the rode without me on rides the pictures showed up with no problems.

Yes. We and our friends did just that this past April. I linked the MM to my MDE account. My friend and I then linked to each other's MDE accounts so we could share/view pictures. Anyone linked to the accounts (my family under mine and my friend's family under hers) could get their MBs scanned for a photo. We were both able to modify the photos and save. I was the only one able to download the photos to my computer, so we just copied them to a USB drive to share. It was great and sharing the expense was awesome:) Enjoy!

ETA: We did have 2 rooms at Pop for part of our stay, then shared a 2BR villa for the rest. We could see each other's room ressie. We had asked for adjoining rooms prior to check in. Not sure if that is important but I am mentioning it as PP suggested that the ressies needed to be linked.

You don't need to link the ressies, just the MDE accts. I am traveling with two other families - we each made our own bookings with Disney, but I am linked to them with my MDE and I can see my friends MM in my system.

you just have to link mde accounts, we had 6 rooms on our memory maker in june. good deal!

I will assume that the dates have to be the same. My friends family is traveling August 11-19 and my family is traveling August 18-27. Can we link and share an account? I won't pay $150 for this but would consider $75.

OK, I hate to sound like an idiot but this was not happening the last time I was there. How do you make sure your ride pictures show up if you do not go to the counter? That would be awesome to not have to wait in the line!

You can use your phone and see them a short time later on the website. If you want a back up write down the photo number and if it doesn't show up you can contact the photopass website and give them the number and they can look it up and add it. We had a few pics that didn't show up at DHS one day and I contacted them with the appx time, place and what we were wearing and they found them.

Does it matter who pays for memory maker? My friends family gets there before me. Should they have it on their account or does it not matter?

It appears that in the past you had to tell them you wanted the photo - but now it's automated? I'm just not sure I want to risk 'accepting' that the picture has been captured when maybe it hasn't.. Is the only way to ensure it to scan your band too? In the 'automated' method, how does it know which part of the carriage you were in? I'd hate to get a shot of a row of strangers and half a row of me and my family...
If I am linked to another family in MDE but they don't have bands (just a one day Epcot pass!), how can they get pictures?

I linked my MDE with my friend. Our vacations overlap (same start but they leave sooner). I "own" the Memory Maker. So by just being linked to share photos on MDE, anytime they do a ride, or use a photopass photographer, they will show up on our account?

They need to decide soon if they need to buy their own. So looking for double-verification on this thread. :)

The dates don't have to be the same. Photos remain in your account for 45 days from the day they were taken. The MM is just an entitlement to 30 days of downloading the photos. Even if your friends start downloading photos on the first day of their vacation, you still won't have reached that 30 days by the end of your trip, so you should be good with 1 MM.

Yes and no. It doesn't really matter who pays. HOWEVER, ONLY the person that pays will be able to view the ride photos and be able to edit the ones for downloading. The other people will be able to view the photos (except for the rides) on their account and do edits, but their edits won't be available for download by the person with the MM entitlement.

It just knows. In 3 weeks at WDW, we have only had 1 ride photo not linked properly. It linked the car in front of the one I was in. It was easily fixed with a call to tech support.

Yes, all of their ride photos will show up on YOUR account. They will not be able to view any ride photos on their account, since they are not the owners of the MM entitlement.

There's a FB group for photopass sharing that has now gone into MM sharing. People list their dates/find others with similar dates. Some volunteer to "host" and it goes from there.

Some get so many people joining, they have over 4,000 photos, and each family pays less than $20!

I've not done it before, but I joined the group, just in case. I'll be keeping my eye out for a group forming around my dates. For $20, I can pitch in for that. Otherwise, for the 3 of us, I don't think it'd be worth it, personally. A friend did it (Disney threw it in as a oops, sorry we totally messed up your reservation- consolation prize) and her pics were cute, but totally not my family's style. We are not ones to act surprised that Stitch is popping out of the sidewalk in front of us, or hold Tinkerbell in our hands. To each their own.

Happy Dance! My friend and her family are arriving the same day we are and we'll split MM!

Just a recap: I have purchased MM. I have all reservations for 3 rooms (8 people) listed in my MDE. I am good to go for the pics? Any band in my party (they are all on MDE with me, I confirmed their MB) can be used for scanning/ride pics?

New to MM. I just used a photo pass before and we just "linked" the photo pass cards to split the photos.

You have to make sure that in each of the person's friends and family link with you has the box checked allowing you to share/purchase their photos. That is allows their MBs to be used to get the photos for that MM purchase.
