The Official VILLAS at DISNEYLAND HOTEL (Discovery Tower) Owners and Fans Info Thread

More balcony info: The one bedroom balcony is off the kitchen/living room. The two bedroom dedicated balcony is off the primary bedroom.

When thinking of getting a two bedroom, (both occupancy of 9, with different bed configuration with lockoff adding the Tiana deluxe studio), balcony location might be a consideration preference over room configuration or theme.

For Duo’s preferred no balcony will be on upper front face, on each side of the grand villa floors 9-12. On standard duo, the no balconies unfortunately are on the back side at the perimeter wall, floors 1-5. (And one HA up on the 12th, overlooking roof). There are more balconies than not in each of those categories.

preferred balcony: xx29 room number ending.
standard balcony xx28 room number ending. (For request try)
I attempted to put in a room request for my preferred duo to be placed with a balcony and MS said they could not add that request because this category does not offer a balcony. Now I’m really confused. I feel like it’s just a random unlisted feature. Is there a way to somehow increase the chance of getting a balcony with a preferred duo studio when I put in a request? Also, I totally understand that it’s a request only and not guaranteed ;)

Request palette pool side of the tower. All the preferred duo’s on that side have a balcony. Can go even further. Duo ending in “29”. There are nine of them all stacked floors 3-11.

I did a tour at VDH this week and since the tour only showed rooms with balconies, I didn't even realize that most studios and duos do not have a balcony. I'm not sure where my head was, because just looking at the exterior you can see the lack of balconies but I guess it just didn't register for me. Except at the Boardwalk and Aulani, I haven't really sat on the balcony so I guess it's not a big deal but the guide definitely didn't mention they are rare.

For the preferred and standard/resort Duo’s it’s nearly 50/50 on balconies vs not. (Preferred & Standard/resort view deluxe studios..0% balconies/patio..none).

Preferred Duo: 17 total (9 with balcony).
Standard/resort Duo: 15 total (9 with balcony).

This is very good info I hope I remember next time I book a 2 bedroom. Thanks!

Only way to have a balcony or patio with a deluxe studio at VDH is booking a Garden view. (There are only 4 & one of those is HA).

Really? I could have sworn the studios I saw had balconies but my memory is crap so I guess not.

We only went into studios (the model room and the DVC office that is a cleared out studio) and both had balconies. I remember because it's a glass wall and my fear of falling scared me and I had to step back into the room 😬

Nope. In the tower, no balconies with a studio. Not even the tower show rooms. They usually show a studio connected to a one bedroom. The balcony is in that unit portion. Again, you will not find one deluxe studio (in the tower portion), with a balcony. Only a Duo Studio. There are no duo’s in that tower, with a balcony, until floor #3.

I really don’t get the balcony thing at either park… at Grand Californian my allergies will flair up with the pollen or at Disneyland hotel you would be a creeper staring at kids in a pool….

We will be staying in a 2 bedroom villa the first full week of January. Is there any recommendation for what I should request? It's funny because we booked the room 7 months out with other points...and ended up adding on points for Disneyland in September.

The 2BDs are really nice. The only thing I can think of is a high floor or low floor based on preferences.

Keep an eye on those peepers, top floor of the Frontier Tower too..I spy balconies up there.

If the dedicated 2BD, they are all the stack at the north tower end. One side monorail slide area, Rooms xx00. The other on the Palette pool side, Rooms xx01. (Floors 3-12).

Here is the interesting part. You will read about the palette pool side view…yes it includes the ‘beautiful’ cityscape. It’s scenic at night. Plus that palette pool below looks cool all lit up. But that palette pool side has better balcony viewing than the front.

This is why: When you look at the front face of the tower. Those two bedroom balconies (off the primary bedroom), have that facade that comes out. (The one Tinkerbell flies on at night). That extension blocks your due north line of sight. Great eastern view of the resort, and parks. That view is great.

Now the palette pool side balconies (also off the primary bedroom), don’t have that decorative extension. You can lookout to the north from the rail (best higher floor to clear Goofy Kitchen building), and actually view north to north-east, though the space between the Fantasy & Adventure towers. (Will see some of Disneyland..like steam from Mark Twain). That’s correct. Without that extension blocker, (which also hides the emergency stairs on that side), you can see back toward the front side of the tower!

Had no request. Got 1001. (Palette pool side)..that’s how I now about the view at the north balcony railing, on that side.
