August 23, 2014 FANTASY Eastern cruise meet~~New Thread

Hi! We are now booked on this cruise!

It will be me, Carolyn; DH Nick; and DD Diana (turning 5 on saildate).

This is a surprise birthday trip for DD.

Not sure if we want to do the FE (not sure what it entails) but definitely want to catch up on the FB page.

Ahoy!

Hi everyone :) (I just made an account on here, so please excuse me not knowing what I am doing.) This will be my family's first Disney Cruise. We have been on lots of other ones before, but I have been told that Disney Cruises are a very different experience. On the cruise will be my parents, my younger brother (10, but will be 11 a few days after the cruise) and myself (19, and will be 20 a few days after the cruise as well). Is there anything we should know before-hand about being on a Disney Cruise? Also, I was wondering if DCL has a special group for 18-21 year olds like some other cruise lines have, this will be my first cruise within this age range.

Welcome! From what I understand, Disney does have a group for 18-21 year olds and from what I've read, it's important you meet up with the group the first night - you'll see where and when in the "Navigator" - Disney's daily newsletter onboard with the schedule for everything. It will be in your cabin when you arrive. I know Disney considers you an adult so you will be allowed to go anywhere on the ship (gym, spa, nightclubs, Palo, etc...).

I have two sons that will be 7 and 9 on the cruise (though they look more like 10 and 13 :) ). This will be my 3rd Disney cruise - I've sailed Celebrity and Norwegian previously. You will notice a difference - first off in the service - staff (also known as cast members (CM's)) does really strive for you to have a great time and receive wonderful service. Just different than other lines - you'll see. Some stuff you might want to know - there is self laundry facilities if you want to save room in your suitcase for other stuff than lots of clothes. There is no casino on the ship - just bingo. Soda and other fountain drinks are included - nothing extra to pay! If you like to do spa stuff definitely consider getting a day pass for the Rainforest room in the spa - for description look at disney cruise website. You'll be allowed to go to the adult areas of the ship - there is an adult area pool on main deck and one deck above is an area called satellite falls - simply heaven when you want to relax and have some quiet time away from the kiddies :) All movies offered in your room on TV are free (other lines frequently charge you) - many are recent ones just released to video (not just kids stuff). On one night towards the end of the cruise, they'll be a pirate night. Many people dress up (and many don't - no pressure). They have a big party on the deck finished off by fireworks. Then there is the only late night buffet for the duration of the trip as well after deck party. Feel free to ask lots of questions - you'll find everyone very friendly here!

Not able to send PM yets (not a very active poster), but this will be our 2nd cruise. 1st was last August on Dream to the Bahamas

Party will be me (Jeff), Aya (DW), Zen-11 (DS), and Wynter-3 (DD).

We are in room 10086 and would like to participate in the FE, the kids loved it last time.

Looking forward to it.

I updated the facebook group, but wanted to let you all know that we've had a slight change of plans. Still going on the cruise, but my mom (Sue) will be accompanying me on the cruise instead of the hubby. Our dog needs a costly surgery and we can't afford to do both, so he graciously bowed out and suggested my mom go instead, which reduces the cost for our household. My mom has been on one other DCL cruise and she is SUPER excited about this. She's been researching and can't wait to be a part of the FE as well. I've been talking about it since participating on our last cruise. Can't believe this is FINALLY getting close!

I hope your dog feels better! I made the change up in the first post and replaced your husband with your mom.

Hi All,
We're new to the group and are excited to be joining everyone on this Aug 23sailing. Not new to Disney (travelled on the Fantasty last August - Western) and have cruised about 7 times previously (not Disney - so those don't count - lol).
Travelling with moi (Mary) will be my DH (Pat), DD (Alyssa 14) and DS (Andrew 9).
My daughter would love to connect with those in her age group via Facebook.

(And hubby and I would be interested in the mixology group if one is still being created).

Thanks!
Mary

This year it will be me , DW(Purplepeg), DD(14), DD(9).....who will become DD(10 ) on the ship! As well this year we will be joined by my DSIL(Queenofallthings) and her daughter and boyfriend!

My husband (DH), son (age 12) (DS) and I (DW) are booked on the Aug 23-30, 2014 Disney Fantasy cruise and I have just joined the Fish Extender group on Facebook and this forum. I am interested in finding out more about the FE group on this cruise - size, amount to spend, etc. This is our second Disney cruise and I wanted to see if this would be something we can do - but not cost a fortune. Thank you.

I geocache! We already got the one in CC, so I've started looking for some easy caches in Sts Martin and Thomas/John. We won't have much time to go searching, we want to go on some excursions, but I definitely want smileys in each of the port visits!

Hey mootmoot! There should be at least 3 caches at the port in St Thomas.....easy to get! St Martin has a few in the business section of Philipsburg......also easy to get to!
I have a few left overs in both ports I want to find yet!

Awesome! Can't wait!! Let me know when we get closer if you want to swap TBs, etc. :). I see you have kiddos around my DD's age (10). Are they always willing geocachers? LOL

Sounds good! I have one TB for sure that I will bring. Hopefully I'll collect a few more over the summer and bring them too. For my kids.....if I buy them Slurpees....they come Geocaching! Lol On the cruise......I'll likely be caching solo!

Bribes usually work, as does bringing along some friends. :). I just realized I won't be able to use my phone app, and I hate to carry my old (car) gps unless I absolutely have to. Hmmm...

Folks, in 2 weeks, we'll be starting the 100 day countdown - eeps!!!!!

Hi everyone. I hope I'm not too late to join the fun. I just recently got back online and wanted to check the boards. I'm from Philadelphia and love anything Disney. This will be technically my fourth Disney cruise. However two were back to back on the dream and the third was on the fantasy in 2012. This time I'm going with my eight year old goddaughter. Is it too late to join the fish extender group? Looking forward to getting know everyone.

Can someone send me a link to the Facebook groups. I searched and couldn't find them. Thanks again. Totally getting excited.
