I had just finished watching a Travel Channel show on this incredible resort when I opened the DVC letter to see that it's been added to our exchange resorts. I bet it'll take some hefty points! Guess I'll have to check it out for myself while taking a Disney Cruise - all in the name of research of course! Has anyone been there?

We went there and it is my all time favorite resort. It is just so incredible you have to see it to believe it. I too, was so excited to see that this was added to DVC. My only question is what type of room we will have. There are three different parts of Atlantis, Beach Towers, Coral Towers and the Royal towers. The Royal Towers being very exclusive, while the Beach Towers are more like a Holiday Inn feel, and the Coral Towers in between.

The only negative about this resort are the food prices. I have travelled alot, and this place blew us away. The first day we got two hot dogs and one order of fries for $14, if this gives you any idea, lol.

I forgot to add that there are some one and two bedroom harborside villas there, so this is probably the rooms we would get.

What is the per night point cost for this resort....and where is it?...I know in the islands, but which one?

It is on Paradise Island, near Nassau, Bahamas. Our cruise ship docked in Nassau and you could see Atlantis from there.

To be more specific, it is within a mile of the cruise ship dock. It's called "Paradise Island" but maps show it connected to the main island. However I don't know if it is possible to walk -- suspect not. You probably have to take a cab or water taxi.

My in-laws have stayed here and it was close to $500 per night. I'm guessing(hoping at that price) they were in the Royal Towers part. We were in the Bahamas for a wedding in '99 and went over to visit this resort. The cab driver told us that they sometimes charged people to come to the grounds to just visit, but we were never asked for anything. The resort was very nice and worth visiting, though I can't say I'd spend $500 a night on it. We walked around, but I don't think we got the whole experience--it was at night so we didn't see a lot of the outside.

Disnut, your cab driver was referring to the fee that is charged to day-visitors who want access to "The Dig". The Dig is an absolutely amazing aquarium at Atlantis! I think that they charge $25 or so per day visitor, and they run little tours through The Dig.

We went to Atlantis resort a few years ago, and we LOVED it. We got a deal through Travelocity, and through a series of lucky events, we ended up upgraded to a Jr. Suite in the Royal Towers. We've never gone back to this resort, because we couldn't afford to get anywhere close to the same type of room again, LOL! It was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of trip I think.

I agree about the food prices at Atlantis. Holy cow! I wish we'd brought some shelf-stable food with us. We would have if we'd known how expensive the food was there. There are meal-plans that you can buy, but they weren't available when we went for some reason.

I saw from the Wonder when we docked. Very impressive from what I saw. I caught one of the Travel Channel's specials on it as well. I would definitely consider staying there!

kel3420..... The one and two bedroom Villas are at Harborside, this was once part of our II trading options but was removed. Since the letter mentions Atlantis and not Harborside and since it is part of our concierge collection, I will assume it will be one of the Towers or possibly all 3. (They might actually give us a few different levels of options like they do at some resorts)

I, too, was pleased to see the Atlantis added to the Concierge Collection. I have never been, but heard wonderful things about it!! Does anyone have an idea when they will list the points for this on the web site? I am anxious to see the points, but am sure when I do, I will say it is only a dream since we only have 150 points. I guess I can dream though, right? :p

According to Atlantis' website, they include Harborside as part of their accomodations, so I am still going to assume that this will be part of where we would stay as DVC members. I only hope that they also give us the opportunity to stay in the three other towers at different point levels.

I think we may get to see points in September. My letter is around here somewhere ..... I just know it's a little bit of a wait till we'll know. I'm with you, disgirl, our 160 points may not go far, but it may be worth saving up for!

There is a bridge but it's a long walk to downtown Nassau.

I would doubt Harborside would be an option due to the fact it's actually a timeshare and is not on the II trade list any more.

I've speculated high season in the 80's up to 100 plus points a night depending on tower. And no, that's not for one of the bridge suites, LOL. They'd be 5000 points a night, $25000 per night.

I was exploring the Atlantis website, and tried to do an availability check. There was absolutely nothing available through August of 2005. I thought the search was limited, though. It didn't let you select what type of room you wanted. I believe it was to check any and all availability, and there was none! My kids (DD17 and DS13) really want to go there. I do, too. Hopefully the points won't be too outrageous. I would blow some points on that resort for sure. I can't wait until we get more info. We may have a couple of years' wait to get in.

Why was Harborside removed from the II list? Bad experiences for DVCers?
Reportedly because of lack of exchange opportunities there. A stupid reason in my book. Even if only a few members got an exchange there, no reason to take it off the list. Plus there are special circumstances why it was less available than it might have beeen. It was new and then closed about 5 months for repairs related to hurricaine issues. They should have given it 2 or 3 mores year as a minimum. My guess is more it's relationship to Starwood and competition for DVC.

WOW, that would be high. I'd hate to see it that high. Consierge just isn't avery good deal, is it.

Actually you could use that statement for the entire program. Those prices for Xmas and Easter (times likely to be blacked out) and probably for any of the HIGH season would be a far better deal than most of the other CC options. One is usually LUCKY to get a return of $6 pp using the CC, it's usuall closer to $5 pp. I know the recent Travel Channel special on Atlantis said that regular rooms were $175 to $500 per night, which was actually lower overall than I expected. The bridge suites were $25000 per night.
