Help me think this through correct. We have a 150 point resale contract at Poly, Dec UY. If I purchase an additional 50 points direct in Nov I would receive 50 at purchase and then another 50 in Dec. I know I can't use my resale points at RIV but could I use the 50 points I added on to book there?

Correct call MS after you buy in November to have them banked since it is past your banking deadline.

You would then have the ability to use up to 150 points at a restricted resort (2024 points bought in Nov 2025, 2025 points and can borrow from 2026 points)

You can of course also combine them with your resale points to use at any of the O14 resorts at 7 months out or if you are buying where you currently own they could be combined and used at 11 months at your home resort.

Yes and yes.

You’re in your 2025 UY, so you’d get 2025 points. And you can bank points at any time from start of their UY through the end of the 8th month of their UY.

Yes but if you don’t have a need for them you should wait until February as you would not have to pay dues on the 2025 points as it is based on calendar year. MS makes exceptions when buying direct and then would bank those for you.

- which resorts are available for purchase of 25 pts?

- can you purchase other amounts e.g. 40 pts?

- Does cost per point vary depending on resort?

- can international owners do transactions remotely or must we do on an upcoming visit?

All resorts are available for purchase (subject to availability at "sold-out" resorts - have not heard reports of any resorts that don't have any points available). 25 points is the current minimum meaning, you could purchase a contract that had 25 points or more on it - 40 would certainly be allowed. Yes, cost per point varies by resort. Pretty good summary at link below. I would be shocked if international owners can't purchase remotely, but I don't have any personal experience with that so can't confirm.

Based on this thread, a 25 point contract can be purchased for any resort. But you must be a current member to purchase fewer than 100 points direct. (You can purchase any size contract that’s available via resale.)

Yes, but again to purchase fewer than 100 points direct you must already be a DVC owner.

- Does cost per point vary depending on resort?

I’m not international, but by reading here it seems that it might depend on where you live, i.e., different restrictions in different countries or even different Canadian provinces.
