Atlantis? Exciting!

Current prices seem to start at $215 for Beach Tower "standard view" during slow times, and go up to nearly $600. I don't know where the Travel channel got their numbers but they are already outdated.

Hey Dean! You forgot to add that the bridge suite is a 4 night minimum! Do we have anyone with THAT many points? LOL

The resort is beautiful though!!!!! I'd venture to say that the multiple pools/slides are even better than SAB. (No flaming, please. I've just NEVER seen anything like it!)

I have wanted to stay there since watching the Olsen twins movie about the place.

I stayed on points and cash at Grove Park Inn. Our room was wonderful on cash, but we had a terrible room for points.
Do these resorts give the points stays low priority.

Our veiw for points was a block wall and a service path. that is all we could see. No mountains or trees. I am sure there used to be a veiw before they put that spa in.

I was exploring the Atlantis website, and tried to do an availability check. There was absolutely nothing available through August of 2005.

I just checked expedia, and rooms are available most of October, 2004. Prices started at $215 a night. The Atlantis website must have been not working properly. 35-40 points per night.

I think I would rather stay at the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego(no air-faire required for me). Plus food would be alot cheaper. I heard you can visit Atlantis on one of the Disney cruises.

You can visit Atlantis as a shore excursion from the Disney cruise. We did this, and had a very nice time visiting "The Dig." My DDs also saw that Mary Kate and Ashley movie, and have been begging to go stay at Atlantis ever since. This may be our opportunity!

My wife and I stayed at Atlantis in Oct,03 for 3 nights. It is a great place to stay!! We were quoted $1100/couple for air and 3 nights. Now air (when we left was $450Rt from Atlanta). So, I did not think this was a bad deal at all. We went Oct 21-25 and NO LINES for any water slides, and the rest. were 1/2 empty. As a matter of fact, a lot of them were closed!! We talked at LENGTH to the manager of one of the rest for 1 hour!!
She said she has been there 20 years or more when it was Merv Griffin resort.
We did a meal plan at 69/p/day and that was not bad. We got 3 meals / day, and even a seafood buffet that included 1 lobster.

Dean: WAY TOO HIGH points for that resort. Even Hawaii now is 66p/nt, and that is Kapula Bay. My estimate: 40-69 pts / nt.
JMHO
I will post pictures if I can.

I can assure you the water slide at SAB does not go through a shark tank! :fish: :fish:

LOL. How about a wager for fun. If ANY options are 80 pp or more for any season, I win. If not, you win. It does look cool. On the CC, the Plaza, Stein Eriksen, The Grande and Tangue Verde are the most expensive options. The highest season goes up to 94 points per night for the Plaza but Stein Ericksen is this high (90) for a much longer period of time.

I didn't know the bridge suite was 4 night minimum, not that I'd be able to think about it anyway. I just talked to someone yesterday that stayed at the Presidential suite at the Breakers for $175 per night, some people get all the breaks.

YOUR ON!!!! Buy me a beer at Atlantis!! Or better yet a crown and coke!!

It depends on IF the Royal Towers are included, if not included on the CC, then I stand by my estimate. The beach Tower we stayed in was quoted as: $225/nt and that was 9 mos ago.. Don't think it would be 60 pts for the beach tower. Now the Royal tower, I think 69 pts is resonable... 500-675/nt cost..
I still say 40-69 pts.
As Doc would say... STAY TUNED!!!

Dean, I hope you loose this one. I fear you may not, but I hope you loose and have to pay off. It would be nice for DVC to be able to negotiate some better deals on consierge.

Thought I would chime in and say the estimates given for nightly rates IMO were low. I am looking at our invoice from our March stay (which was concierge, not reg. floor) ~ 3 nights $2318.00. That's $772/night concierge; rack rate for reg. floor is prob. around $600 minimum during high season. Ouch!

Your own, beer's on me regardless. And I do hope I lose. But I'm pretty sure I won't and that all regular size rooms will be included including all towers. Since the value usually works out to be about $5 pp, current prices in this thread suggest a low of about 45 points to a high over 100 per night.

From Expedia's website. You could book the rooms tonight.

Atlantis- Paradise Island Royal Towers
Enjoy rates from $305.00 per night between 5-Aug-04 and 4-Oct-04.

Atlantis- Paradise Island Coral Towers
Enjoy rates from $260.00 per night between 5-Aug-04 and 4-Oct-04.
Availability & prices

Atlantis- Paradise Island Beach Tower
Enjoy rates from $215.00 per night between 5-Aug-04 and 4-Oct-04.

Looks like the rates have went down. I can't believe how expensive concierge was. I wonder how it compares to Disney's concierge.

OK, just saw the points posted for the Coronado. Went to Expedia and got there pricing. The price is for a Monday to Thursday, and doesn't include tax(about 11%).

Hotel Del Coronado, San Diego
Jan 1 - Jun 30 & Sept 1 - Dec 31 Sun - Thur Fri, Sat
resort no view - 38 pts 42 pts $216
resort partial view - 48 pts 55 pts $279
resort ocean view - 58 pts 67 pts $444

So we are looking at about $6.50 per point for the first two, and $8.00 for the resort ocean view.

From this, I'd say Atlantis will be in the same ballpark. Still better to sell, but not a bad deal for the ocean view.

And that's compared to regular prices not specials and other discounts.

The rates are down, but for Aug - Oct. timeframe. That is hurricane season in the Bahamas, and room rates are usually pretty discounted at that time. Our travel dates were in March, which is high season. You will pay premium rates during that time. I would think that even if the points quoted were reasonable, trying to book availability will still be tough any time during Feb - April.

This thread really has me thinking. With two girls who have wanted (begged) to go to Atlantis ever since that Olsen Twins movie, I may have to consider this Concierge Collection thing.

The problem is that - if Dean is right and the point value is around $5, this is a horrible deal. The maintenance and taxes on that point are nearly $4 which means I get $1 worth of net value by using my points there. And, with 300 points, I may only get to afford one room for a week (or less!). One room does not do it for us anymore.

Can it be this bad of a deal?
