ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

Disneydreamin247, how are you? I am on my way back to WDW tomorrow, doing a split stay, 4 nights CL at the Polynesian then 6 nights CL at the BC! I have never stayed CL at either the BC or the Poly, only the GF. Interesting your thoughts on the Poly vs the GF. Anyone who has seen my posts know how much I LOVE the GF, but I hear what you are saying about the snobs. We have friends who will only stay CL at the GF now, and as much as I love the GF I don't ever want to be a snob! How is your precious little girl? When we met at the GF the poor little thing was sick.

I have read such mixed reviews of the Polynesian, but for very negative one there are a more positive ones. I believe the rooms are the largest on property and I love the theming! Very excited and will post from the Polynesian with pictures of CL!

Oh, I could never ever think of you as a snob! You are just a doll. We met many nice folks while at the Grand, but enough people looking down their noses to make us a little less comfortable. I think you will like the Poly just fine. We didn't have one complaint about our stay and my parents are looking forward to a 10 night return next Fall.
My little Lily is doing much better. She had hand foot mouth disease but she didn't have it too bad. I ended up having it much worse than she did on e we got home!
I hope you enjoy your upcoming trip and I'd love to see photos!!!

My kids LOVE the Neverland Club! You can make advance ADRs for it but I think they said they have room for 50 or even 100 kids and they usually only have 10 to 20. I have made ADRs and also just dropped them off with no problem. I recommend if you do know the night, make an ADR just to feel safer. There is a 24 hour cancellation policy though so if you aren't sure of the night, don't make an ADR. It is not prepaid. You pay when you pick your kids up. You can charge it to the room if you want. If you get a Disney package, they usually have a 10% coupon for the kids club so use it! Also, they provide the kids dinner so don't worry about feeding them before you drop them off.

Thanks so much! My kids are so excited to go!!

How old do kids have to be to go to the Neverland Club? My middle DD will be 3 at the time of our trip and is fully potty trained. But I thought I saw somewhere it begins at age 4...

We just got back from our WDW wedding/honeymoon/Christmas trip and we have become Poly CL converts!!:cloud9: Seriously, best resort we have ever stayed in!! Everything was fantastic-from our garden view room on the 3rd floor to the amazing CL CM's (especially Barbie!), to the lounge food, to Wishes views, to the Mousekeepers, to the convenience of the monorail-I'm not sure I could stay anywhere else!!:goodvibes

I copied this directly from the Disney website:

Activities for Children
In addition to all the activities mentioned above, there are bike rentals, a 24-hour, high-tech game room and a children's wet-play area located near the Nanea Volcano Pool. Children ages 3-12 can also enjoy the Never Land Club, a supervised activity center that affords parents a carefree night on the town. And children are sure to love a Character Dining breakfast hosted by Lilo & Stitch at the 'Ohana restaurant. (Additional fee required)

It doesn't mention that the child must be potty trained, but I'm pretty sure that's the case.

The Poly IPO said 3 and potty trained...you are good to go :thumbsup2

The entirely family (my parents included) felt more comfortable at the Poly. DS has ADHD and we just blended on better at the Poly. The Grand was lovely a d maybe I'd stay there again without the kids, but with them it just didn't feel comfortable. Also, sitting in SL hearing conversations about people selling their house for over a million dollars and traveling for 7 months straight didn't help either lol. Maybe if we didn't stay CL it would have been different but I felt like I was always panicking over how my DS was going to act.

Can't get my dh to stay at GF. He says he feels out of place. The Poly just suits him better. I try to explain to him they cost about the same, but he doesn't care. It all about how it looks. I could care less what people think. I wear my Kohls and Target clothes with pride. Anyway its back at the Poly for us this May.:cloud9:Can't wait.

Got my Mickey Mail today!!! We are 29 days out. Magical Express was included in the leaflet. This was kinda new to me. Usually we get seperate mail for that. But we are good to go now.

just wanted to say hi to everyone! I'm live here at the Poly CL! Let me know if you guys have any questions. we'll be here until 01.02.12. :goodvibes

The Poly is just heavenly. I can't wait to be back in October. :lovestruc

My sister awoke the sleeping beast yesterday... I had really gotten away from this thread and others since my next trip to Disney was so far away.... well she asked me a question and now I am really getting exicted and already want to start planning our May 2013 trip!!!! Going to have to make a ticker soon.

My kids and I are really wishing that we could go this year too - but home renovations make that impossible.

Just hoping that the Poly will be open in 2013.... I saw a wierd facebook post by Tikiman the other day. Otherwise, I guess we will be heading over to the Grand Floridian.

We didn't feel out of place at the GF AT ALL. We are a Target/Walmart/Kohl's family too! But my DH much prefers the Poly :goodvibes

Hello...

Has anyone had a poolside massage at the Poly before? I'm curious to know how much they cost and what they're like.

Thanks! :) :) :)
