ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

Just got our cabana booked for our stay in June! We have learned to always include a "down day" when we are lucky enough to have a trip to the world!

We got some extra $$ for Xmas and was thinking about upgrading to club level for our trip in a month (if there's availability). Any thoughts?

We absolutely loved CL and felt it was worth every penny, especially watching Wishes from the lounge at night with a glass of wine.

We are checking in to Poly CL next Tuesday. After years of being loyal to the Poly we have stayed at BC the last two trips. During our trip in Oct. we missed the Poly like crazy. We haven't stayed at the Poly since Oct. 2010, and we are so excited about going back! Can't wait!

We couldn't agree more ... stayed CL the last 3 times at the Poly and are planning to do so again in May! :thumbsup2

How exciting! I have to say I'm a bit jealous since I won't be seeing the Poly again until October. :sad1:

Belated Merry Christmas to everyone! The surprise went well for having kids varying in age from 1 1/2 to 15!!!! We had three large boxes, one for each family (and a fourth that we gave to my other sister's family just yesterday). Each box had balloons inside, a 2012 Disney calendar, park maps, a postcard from the Poly, and leis from the Poly that we have collected over the years. At first the little ones were all excited over the baloons and it took their Aunt and Uncle to pump them up and get them to really understand (our kids of course knew right away, but we wanted the other kdis to catch on).

Then Grandma and Grandpa gave everybody their t-shirt for the trip and that brought on more excitement. They are all excited to be going with each other and are really excited about the Poly. I put together a video for all of them to watch after the surprise was revealed (to the music of One Republic "Good Life"). My parents loved it and enjoyed watching all of the grandkids sitting around and so excited!!!

Watch out WDW and Poly ....here we come!

Greetings! I am getting a bit closer to my 180 day mark to make our ADRs... I know our summer trip is months away, but I cannot wait for our next Poly stay!

That sounds amazing!

OT- but am I the only person who cries like a baby every time they hear that song? I hate it!

At least I'm not alone! Everyone thinks I'm nuts when I start bawling anytime I hear that darn song.

BTW do I need to worry since I see you posting over here? :rotfl:

Oh and thanks to everyone who hyped the CL...we just upgraded!!!:cool2: I think it will be a nice convenience for our family. How are the rooms in Hawaii? I requested third floor so we could have a balcony...is that a good plan?

You're going to love it! I enjoyed having a beer or glass of wine on the balcony at night.

Just did the DVC phone tour for the 40.00 gc. I asked the cm on the phone about construction at the Poly, and he told me that it will be a Grand Floridian DVC, located near the wedding pavillion. He mentioned that they will be trucking in sand as part of the new construction will be jutting out over the water.
I haven't made any reservations yet for next October, but we may stay at the Beach Club instead if there's going to be construction.

I can't see how that would involve the Poly at all. I was there in September and you couldn't tell there was construction going on at all.

We were 3rd Floor Hawaii last week and loved it. Only used our balcony in the mornings a little (we were garden view). We loved the convenience of lounge access from our floor, and loved sitting in the CL watching the fireworks over a glass of wine :)

The construction is ongoing and doesn't affect anything about your stay at the Poly, other than the fact that you can see the construction area from the Monorail when you're on your way to the GF or MK. It's too far off to the left to affect any view of the castle.

It doesn't affect your view of the castle, but construction is construction. We could definitely see the walls when we were at the Poly in October.
