ALOHA! The Polynesian Resort Information Thread: Summer 2011 Edition!

It doesn't affect your view of the castle, but construction is construction. We could definitely see the walls when we were at the Poly in October.

We didn't notice them at all. They're only up by the construction and along the walkway to the GF. I didn't even see them until riding over to the GF on our switch day.

Hey everybody! :yay: We are so excited to be heading back to the Poly in 12 days!!! Quick question...we're going to let our boys visit the Neverland Club one night while DH and I have dinner at Citricos. Do we need to make those Neverland ressies prior to our arrival? Is it prepaid? Thanks so much!!

To each his own. Sounded like the construction was going to really begin in earnest soon. We love the Poly, but have wanted to try out one of the Epcot resorts since we go during Food & Wine Festival. This gives us a reason to try out a different resort.

Oh no not you too!

Hahaha!!!!! No changes....but in a previous life ;) (before you came back to the RC'ING board) I bounced endlessly back and forth between Poly, BC, and WL...LOL!!! I think I have decided Poly is not for me....now the GF on the other hand....:rolleyes1

:rotfl: And for us, we decided the complete opposite after staying at the Grand.

Talk to me....what didn't you like about...it seems stuffy, however also seems perfect for my little 7 and 5 year old divas...they have said that the only change I can make would be to GF, otherwise we stay at BC... I'm not really anticipating a change though...the cost and the construction deter me....talk to me about your Poly experience too....love to hear perspectives

The entirely family (my parents included) felt more comfortable at the Poly. DS has ADHD and we just blended on better at the Poly. The Grand was lovely a d maybe I'd stay there again without the kids, but with them it just didn't feel comfortable. Also, sitting in SL hearing conversations about people selling their house for over a million dollars and traveling for 7 months straight didn't help either lol. Maybe if we didn't stay CL it would have been different but I felt like I was always panicking over how my DS was going to act.

I hear you on that one....I remember on our last trip, sitting on the monorail with a mom and her 3 children and their nanny. The nanny did not speak english, and the mom was complaining to another person in our our car that they are having to stay at the GF for 6 weeks while their 6500 sq. foot home was completely rennovated. She was complaining that her DH had scheduled this and the GF was the "best he could come up with". :scared1: Her DH was apparently going to be joining them in 3 weeks, as he was away on business... Anyways, looking at her Prada flip-flops (which even my DH noticed...compared to my Old Navy flip-flops)...we kind of knew we probably wouldn't like staying there. Our DD7 though, would LOVE to stay there...and our DD's are princesses, but they are very excited about Beach Club, and weren't so stoked about the Poly. I like the BC decor better though, I prefer the airier, lighter motif... plus, we are from New England, so the Beach Club vibe is just like home. :cloud9:

LOL!! Caught ya!!!! Wait a minute...what am I doing here.... :rolleyes1

I lurk on this thread too, even though DH does not like the Poly, but has said he will stay there if I really want to. It is in the running for our next trip, I am definately thinking monorail resort just not sure which one, would love to do all 3, maybe 2 nights each if I could talk DH into a split stay which is doubtfull

LOL....uh oh...RC'ers are taking over the Poly thread.... :rotfl2:

Have you seen the video with the band in WDW? If you cry with the commercials, have your tissues ready!

:flower3: I was smart watched it when DH is NOT here
My spidey senses are tingling. I feel a switch coming on!
:rotfl: I am really trying Dani. I have a list, Poly is winning so far.....

Oh and thanks to everyone who hyped the CL...we just upgraded!!!:cool2: I think it will be a nice convenience for our family. How are the rooms in Hawaii? I requested third floor so we could have a balcony...is that a good plan?
Great plan. I never stayed Hawaii, but when we were walking around I LOVE how the CL in almost ON the beach :worship:

I feel like the Baskin Robbins ice cream cake commercial, only I'm whispering switch to Poly. :rotfl: I say Poly wins over WL hands down. The rooms are bigger, the pool is better, and you have a boat OR the monorail.

:rotfl: The bigger rooms are definitely a plus. I joked with DH that we could sleep in separate beds if we stayed at the Poly :rotfl2:

My kids LOVE the Neverland Club! You can make advance ADRs for it but I think they said they have room for 50 or even 100 kids and they usually only have 10 to 20. I have made ADRs and also just dropped them off with no problem. I recommend if you do know the night, make an ADR just to feel safer. There is a 24 hour cancellation policy though so if you aren't sure of the night, don't make an ADR. It is not prepaid. You pay when you pick your kids up. You can charge it to the room if you want. If you get a Disney package, they usually have a 10% coupon for the kids club so use it! Also, they provide the kids dinner so don't worry about feeding them before you drop them off.

Thanks for this. This is worth looking into to :goodvibes

update=can't do it since our DS3 is not potty trained....next year

Disneydreamin247, how are you? I am on my way back to WDW tomorrow, doing a split stay, 4 nights CL at the Polynesian then 6 nights CL at the BC! I have never stayed CL at either the BC or the Poly, only the GF. Interesting your thoughts on the Poly vs the GF. Anyone who has seen my posts know how much I LOVE the GF, but I hear what you are saying about the snobs. We have friends who will only stay CL at the GF now, and as much as I love the GF I don't ever want to be a snob! How is your precious little girl? When we met at the GF the poor little thing was sick.

I have read such mixed reviews of the Polynesian, but for very negative one there are a more positive ones. I believe the rooms are the largest on property and I love the theming! Very excited and will post from the Polynesian with pictures of CL!
