Ok....so a super newbie question regarding room requests. I have only ever stayed at AKL and BC. And there was never any choices for room requests, or place to input. Is that different with GF? I see everyone talking about requesting rooms and I'm unsure how/when to go about that. With BC...we get Garden view and at AKL we got pool view. We've never been anywhere with outer buildings before. Are there any suggestions for us? We are an Outer Building Garden View. We don't mind being further away from the main lobby and prefer to be away from elevators. We like quiet and our children are also quiet. We are tossing around the idea of upgrading to a deluxe room just to have the extra space. Is there anything that really makes it worth the extra $100 or more a night?

Do any of the rooms in our category have a bathtub that will fit a tall adult? I always feel uncomfortable in my bathtub at home, but look forward to maybe having a bubble bath on vaca. BC and AKL only had standard tubs.

Thank you for any help!

I don't know a lot about the outer buildings but I would call reservations and add you room request just as you described it. "Quiet location, away from elevators." You may want to add. no connecting door... as that seems to add a lot of noise to a room. The resort is very compact, none of the rooms are very far away from anything.

The turret deluxe outer building rooms just offer more space. The turret area is furnished with a sofa/daybed, chair and additional TV. If they are like the turret rooms in the main building or Sugarloaf some do not have balconies. Someone else may be able to comment on that. Honestly, I think for $100 per night I would choose CL. In Sugarloaf you can request the turret rooms and even if you did not receive it the value of the food service for a family is often "worth it".

As for the tubs, the only garden tubs that I know of are in the deluxe rooms in the main building (some queen deluxe and some king deluxe that are a bookable category) and some of the suites. We have stayed in one of the turret deluxe rooms in Sugarloaf and had a small tub.

I totally agree with Baler31. If you have it in your budget, I would stay club level! I love the convenience of having breakfast ready every morning, snacks throughout the day, and if you drink beer or wine, you will save money. A glass of wine will cost you $10-$12 at a bar or restaurant. Both the Queen Deluxe rooms and the King Deluxe turret rooms in the main building ( Royal Palm Club) have big garden tubs, at least the ones we have stayed in did, and they fit my 6'4" husband. I do love to take a bubble bath while at GF, and I always ask for extra sea salt body wash to do so! RPC is expensive, but depending on when you are going, you may be able to get a good discount. We always factor in the fact that main building club level doesn't have to fight for seats in the lobby to listen to the band. It's your own private concert while you eat appetizers and have a glass of wine ( or another beverage if you don't drink wine). We have stayed in the Sugar Loaf (outer building club level) too, but it has been years, so I'm not sure what rooms have big tubs. I posted some pictures of the Deluxe Queen and deluxe King turret rooms that we have stayed in on the 2015 club level thread if you are interested ( actually, I posted links and someone else posted the actual pictures immediately following since I didn't know how to do that:-).

hi, friends! i know that i have been mia a lot in the last year or so but i wanted to pop in and say hello! i've missed you! i've enjoyed catching up on the last few pages. where has our friend k&a&c's mom disappeared to? i hope you are all doing great.

Sorry if this has been answered but can't find it... Can you see wishes from the courtyard pool (the one in front of the main building I think it's called the courtyard pool)?

The buildings block most of the fireworks from the actual pool, you can see some of the higher ones. You can walk down to the boat dock or marina area in front of Gasparillas and watch though.

Alright... Here we are. Still going to the GF, but we switched back to Sugar Loaf CL.

DH created doubt in my mind saying that he wasn't 100% sure that he would like RPC as much as he wanted to. In conclusion, we both felt that SL might suit us better than RPC (He hates heights, I hate jazz --and reverb you can hear in huge rooms--, it was a bit expensive too... ). Also SL reminds us a bit of YC CL that we loved.

Last night, we found availability at SL... switched back to SL and got a refund (163$ for the 1 night stay).

I feel a lot of relief.

But I'm sad because there are not many pictures (and no videos) of SL... :confused3

Beth!! Hi!! Good to "see" you ! :goodvibes ...I have been in touch with k&a&c'smom ...she should be popping in sometime soon...life has been a bit hectic for her..which is why she hasn't been around....I will let her know that you were asking for her...:thumbsup2

Are there DVD players in all the rooms?

Only in CL rooms....

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think so. I believe only the Club Level rooms have them.

Correct...:thumbsup2

Congrats on being able to switch you room back to SL...:goodvibes You will not be disappointed...Never stayed at the YC...but the lounge in SL is what I would call cozy..reminds me of a small bistro...and its so conveniently located in the lobby of the SL building! For some reason I thought that there as a link on page one with several SL pics....the rooms essentially look the same as any other outer building standard room...with some CL amenities..such as the DVD player..robes...maybe a bigger selection of H2O toiletries..?? Not sure about that one...lol.. and of course the IPO office..and CL CMs that are available to assist you with making ADRs...etc....And also the wonderful new texting service....allows you to contact IPO through out your stay...even book additional FPP right from the parks....A very nice CL perk IMO....

Ok looks like 8/16-20th it is!! SL for me and dd20!:cloud9:

It's still cold up here in Connecticut (15 this morning), so thanks for all these wonderful plans -- they are warming me up. And Candy, those pictures almost make the snow disappear.

Hi! I generally just read the posts here because we are staying at the GF in August, but I had to stop and send a big Hello from a Nutmeg State Neighbor! It was 19 when I left home this morning and all I kept thinking was that August was way too far away for a vacation!!!

Hi, grannyminnie and blue!! grannyminnie, i will do my best not to make myself so scarce! even though neither of my upcoming trips is to my beloved GF RPC, i have to remind myself that i do still have GF knowledge to offer for this thread! i am taking BFF to V&A's for her birthday dinner in a little over two weeks during my first adult only trip to disney, staying at YC. :cake::cloud9: we are also looking forward to some shopping and some time at mizner's during our trip (although having had the wine pairing once before, i told her i do not suggest shopping and mizner's on the same night at V&A's, lol).

blue thank you, please do tell her. i miss her! i did PM her but i don't know how often she even logs on these days.

congrats to all of you planning trips, how exciting! i can just hear that music wafting up from the lobby right now. :cloud9: in fact... here is some nostalgia to that end for anyone so inclined.... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdIXGUseYz9rzCXx2we6KaA/videos

I was also popping in :grouphug: I've defected from my Poly August reservation and over to BC CL. Of course today I was checking out some Grand pics :) Miss my Grand Groupie friends!!!!!!!

Lovely to see you, pas130! I'm sure you'll have a fine time come August! I just love your Little Orange Bird. I brought several Birdy items home from the Co-Op. That little bird takes me straight back to my first trip to WDW as a very small girl!

Blue, thank you for the k&a&c'smom update. I'm so relieved all is well.

I'm with you, baler! I am reminded, though, of a friend of mine who was a bride's maid. All went swimmingly with dress fittings until she broke a toe. I seem to think she wore oversized ballet slippers. No tennis shoes in sight!

Candy, thank you very mush for all the photos. You are giving joy to a lot of people around here!
