Things like animal rescue trusts - those poor animals, unloved and desperate! And cancer adverts… and Lifeboat adverts… and donkey rescue adverts… and… and...

They're all just so sad!

I have to switch channels when the dog rescue ads come on TV -- I help several groups but I cannot look at those sad faces. I want to adopt all of them.

Even some of the ones around the holidays that are supposed to be uplifting end up being tearjerkers. Our local grocery does a special holiday commercial every year and I can’t watch it without a tissue . . .

I remember each time I see those 'pathetic dog' commercials how 95% of what they raise is used to pay the cost of running that business (i.e. mostly to pay salaries of the employees). Many firms are basically taking advantage of the tax laws to run these so-called 'non-profits'. I think those laws need to be revised. If so inclined, donate directly to a local animal shelter where the money can actually be used for its intended purpose.
