I'm so sorry about your dog, C.Ann. I know too personally how hard that can be.

I had a rough day, just dealing with the fact that this is my first Father's day without my Dad... :( ... I don't care how old you are you're still a kid when it comes to losing your parents.

I think we could all use one big old Hug.... (((((((hug)))))))

:teeth:

I'll be thinking about you tomorrow....

No...I'm not bringing him home.. I can't.. :(
----------------------

I finally figured out what the problem was with the DC labels.. I went to the Q&A section regarding DC's on the postal site and they aren't AVAILABLE on-line for parcel post or media mail - only Priority or Express Mail!! And here I wasted all this time.. Grrrr..

My next "challenge" is the Turbo Lister.. I have SOOOO much stuff to list now - thought it would be best to give it a try.. Now am I right in assuming that you DON'T have to be "on-line" when you're writing up the descriptions and such - or am I wrong on that? I know I won't be doing it tonight - but maybe tomorrow I'll need something to keep my mind occupied "after"...

I don't understand CAnn..you d/l the shipping assistant 2.2, and it won't let you do the media mail and parcel post? I've used it for the media mail and PP cheap DC. Are you sure you d/l the program and not just going to the online Priority label area I also posted? Or maybe you are reading the FAQ's for the Priority label. If you have the shipping assistant, you can pay the .13 at the PO..and you do your label on your computer.

{{hugs}}

I know exactly how you feel.

We are very, very close to doing that ourselves. Our dog has been hanging on by a thread and my DH has not been "ready" to put her down even though I have been ready for months. We're pulling up our (somewhat expensive) oriental carpets this week to be professionally cleaned because of the stinky dog pee all over them :(. They will not go back until the dog is gone.

It's so hard to let an old friend go ... an animal that has shared your life for so long. 14 years for our puppy. But, I find it even harder to live with her as a different, blind, deaf, frail & incontinent animal. She was always so confident and strong. {{sigh}}

Sorry, this was about you and your dog and became about me and my dog. We're going in to see the vet as a family this week. It might be time for us too.

Oooooooooooooooo!! I'm going to TEAR MY HAIR OUT!!!!

I downloaded the Shipper's Assistant program - have the right Acrobat - filled out all the info - got my user and password - filled out the shipping label forms - clicked the submit button - little box in red said "complete" - clicked the "view" button and it said I couldn't "view" it without an outside or external viewer or some such nonsense.. No buttons there to push for printing..

And what's with this "free 30 day trial"? What have I gotten myself into??

I can't do this.. I might as well continue to pay the darn 55 cents!!!

Am I stressed?? Not in the least!!!!

And did I mention I have 13 packages that have to go out tomorrow?????????????????????

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

C. Ann

I'm having the same problem with the shipping assistant program. If you get it figured out, let me know. And, if I get it figured out, of course, I'll let you know.

C. Ann:

I'm confused. After you type in the shipping info and click submit, it should say "complete" in the processing area. I don't have a view button on mine. I have display label. After clicking on this it should pull up the Acrobat and you click print.

 I'm sorry it's not working for you! Have you thought about using one of the online postage companies? I use Endicia and not only do they have the .13 cent DC, I get insurance through U-PIC from them for .60. Now I only go to the post office if I have an International package! The rest go in the mail box. If you are getting the volume they have a 30 day trial. There is also Stamps.com, I think you can still get a free postal scale with them for signing up.

Good luck with it!

OK,
I finally took the ebay plunge. I'm a bit nervous. Did I price too high, will I get any bids? Anyway, I have two questions for you ebay veterans:teeth: :teeth:
Do you generally use the reserve price when listing? Do you set the price low to get people to look but have the reserve price? At first I was going to do it and then I saw it cost .55 cents. Now I know .55cents isn't that much but I don't know, I felt like I couldn't give my money away. But I would if it works.
Second question. I have read and even been suggested to look at completed or finished auctions to see the price something similar has gone for but I, for the life of me, can't figure out how to few a finished auction. Can one of you please tell me. Thanks for all your help.

April

PS
C.Ann, I am very sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you.

Hi..and congrats on taking the plunge. You do get back the reserve cost, if your item sells, so that helps. That said, I don't use the reserve, because I don't like it when I bid myself. I feel the person is trying to trick me. That said, I prob would use it if I had a really expensive item (couple hundred dollars) because I know people, unless looking for that exact item, wouldn't glance at it, if it's priced that high. Boy, talk about giving you conflicted info LOL!

To view completed auctions, on any eBay page, to to search at the top of the page, advanced, and then in the middle of the page, click off completed auctions.

little box in red said "complete" - clicked the "view" button and it said I couldn't "view" it without an outside or external viewer or some such nonsense..

Once I push the display button, mine comes right up. Maybe you have an old version of Acrobat? I think it had to be one of the newer ones. What version do you have (open it and go to help, about..that should tell you)?

I've never gotten anything that indicated it was a 30 day trial..so I don't know what that's about.

I just downloaded the Turbo Lister program (took FOREEEEVEERR) - now how do I use it? I thought someone on here mentioned having to do something special the first time they used it rather than just going ahead and listing a whole bunch of stuff..

It wasn't me who posted but I just tried TurboLister for the first time this week and ran into a problem just setting up a new user file. It kept telling me that it could not connect with the server even though I had a browser window opened and I knew my cable connection was working! The live help technician at eBay was of no help and after half an hour of trying to explain my problem to him and him not "getting" it, I gave up.

I was all ready to manually enter each item that I wanted to list on Saturday morning when it dawned on me to drop my firewall and try it again. Guess what???? It worked like a dream! Listing with the TurboLister was so much easier than doing it one by one! I just have to remember to disable my firewall long enough to upload the info and enable it right after.

I'm not sure if you'll run into this pproblem as well but I thought that I would post it for anyone who might encounter it. I had 50 items to list and I really did not want to spend all of Saturday morning listing each one separately! It sure saved me a ton of time!

I FINALLY got the Shipping assistant to work for me.

I had to download the latest version of Acrobat. I had the old version on my computer.

I'm excited to try it out and just have to wait until someone pays me. :)

I went nutso over the weekend listing auctions.... I now have 29 auctions going! 4 have bids, and thanks to that watchlist script, I know I have 10 current watchers. Also had a BIN last night, immediate PayPal payment, and got to try out the stamps.com print your own priority mail shipping lable. That went smoothly, too! :teeth:

But what has really got me excited today is Andale.... I registered with Andale's free counter service (sounds like a WDW restaurant, LOL ;) ) and now I can see all the hits my auctions are getting in a nice big list display. It looks like your "my ebay items I'm selling" list, but it has all the hit info as well as the statistical data they display. Andale has a lot of other fee-based services, and they look interesting, but for a small seller like me the free counter stats are very exciting!

This is another one in which you'd need to register with Andale and provide your ebay ID & PW in order for it to monitor your auctions.

This is getting to be a lot of fun for a geek like me (did PC software phone support for 4 years), and I'm finding the more tools I become familiar with, the less like work posting the listings becomes.

Happy listing!

(C.Ann, my thoughts and prayers are with you... I know this will be a tough day for you.)

Thank goodness the DIS boards are finally back up and running!! I need some help quick!!

First let me tell you all though that I didn't bring our dog to the vet today.. My DH wasn't "ready" and he insisted the dog was doing better.. I have to admit, the dog IS much better today - even went out and played in his little swimming pool.. No trouble getting around today - no sad looks - just his old happy self.. I know it's only "temporary" and my DD came over this morning to say "goodbye" (originally this was her dog before she got married) so if I have to do the deed later in the week, at least she got to see him one last time - and when he was perky too!
-------------------

Now - back to the ebay stuff.. I finally got the Shippers Assistant to work where I could see a sample label.. But before I acutally print the labels I need, I have some questions..

What do you put in if you don't know the exact weight? It won't let you leave it blank - it at least has to have ounces..

In the check-off section (where they have the one that you can check off to see a sample), what do I need to check off there for using delivery confirmation on OTHER than priority mail? The choices are:

Address service
Separate receipt
Confirmation barcode only

Next, do I need to check off the "Save form fields and response to output path" ? And if so, why?

Once I actually saw a sample label it said on the side: "If mailing receipt is required, present the article and Online e-label record at the post office.. What does that mean - and where is the "record"?

Sorry for all the questions, but I need to do this today.. Oh - and one other thing - is there somewhere I can print out the info that actually SAYS the DC is only 15 cents - in case the clerk at the PO doesn't know or gives me a hard time?

Thanks all!

Oops! Two ther questions..

You know how the DC from the PO is lime green and the one half rips off? Well - with the online one, do you tape the WHOLE label down? And is this done WHERE the address goes (thereby eliminating the need to write the persons address separately) or to the left of where you have written the address?

--------------------------------------

And one question about the Turbo Lister.. I think it got lost in all my tantrums and woes last night.. LOL

Can I work on that OFF LINE until I'm actually ready to send them off to eBay?

Thanks again!!!!

Whew..so many questions LOL.

The on line DC is also the address label. The half you cut off and affix gets totally taped down (even though they tell you not to tape over the bar code..if you have a laser printer..that is fine..if not you need to tape the whle thing (no wrinkles or it won't scan), or if it gets at all damp, it will run. If you want them to stamp the label from their post office as further proof..you need to bring the half you cut off (the record). I only do this when it's a big number item, since it would be more paperwork for me...by the time I"m at the PO, that record is already filed with the personls printout of their bid.

On the shipper's assistant, you need to put in the weight..but if you fudge it won't matter..unless you are prepaying for your postage..then you should be exact...and even then, if you aren't they'll just charge you more at the window. If you aren't going to the window, they'll charge the person you shipped to. This is just if you are prepaying hte postage, which I don't think you are.

In the check-off section (where they have the one that you can check off to see a sample), what do I need to check off there for using delivery confirmation on OTHER than priority mail? The choices are:

I dont click anything there, icluding save the form path. ..because I don't need to see a sample, and it saves my return addy, so I"m all set. ..so I can't help you there. Mayeb if I paid my postage on line I would have to. All I do is change the service type, depending on which type of mail I am sending.

QUOTE] I can print out the info that actually SAYS the DC is only 15 cents - in case the clerk at the PO doesn't know or gives me a hard time?[/QUOTE]

I believe it's .13..and it will scan up as that I haven't run into one PO that didn't know that it will be that cheap price (as long as they have the scanner..for instance, Duanesburg PO doesn't, so if you know where that is, don't mail there). If you do, tell them to look at the July 2001 bulletin.

C. Ann,

I can answer your Turbolister question. Yes, you can work offline. I love that about it.

Now, how on earth did you finally get your shipping assistant to work, I still can't get mine to. I have that same "external viewer" thing. Thanks.

I have that same "external viewer" thing

I can't remember Pooh..did you take some much earlier advice for other's (at least I think it was on this board LOL) and make sure your Adobe Acrobat is up to date? That seems to be the most common problem using the shippers assistant.
