Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

Hi. New to this thread. Last night, I booked a 2BR villa in the tower for the beginning of December. I've only read a bit of the conversation here so far and I sure hope the holiday decor doesn't cause a repeat of the July 4 issues.

I usually stay at POFQ, and did my first Deluxe stay with my adult daughters this spring at Yacht Club. I'm coming back with my son and his family at Thanksgiving and we will start at POFQ, switch to the Island Tower, then finish out at AKL, Kidani, (another 2BR villa). Yeah, crazy me plans for three resorts over nine nights.

So here I am, ready to learn all about a resort I never dreamed I'd be staying at.
I have only done the deluxe studios but love the tower!

If you want to eat at waialulu you can check in inside the lobby for indoor or outdoor seating. They will give you a pager and you can wait in the lobby, your room or a garden patio .

If want bar area you check at bar for 1st come seating.

If want a drink to go there’s a line roped off as you enter bar area. This IS where you go for the pool drinks. We also got drinks for the room from here,

You can also mobile order food items from W,

The garden patios things are fun. Take time to explore. The TPV are on 3 and 5. The resort view I can’t remember but could see from floor7.

2 br villas are nice for family time. You can also order to go from Kona in the App if want to eat in the room or from CC’s QS option.

I will say I do prefer the oasis pool out of the 3 but don’t mind the walk. It has quiet dining area there which is handy.

I don't think you have to worry too much about early December based on the reports from the 4th of July. It seemed like all the other days that weekend were pretty much ok, but the actual holiday had huge groups of non-resort guests congregating to watch the special fireworks. The MVMCP fireworks run 3/4x a week and while early December is a popular time for DVC to book, it isn't peak WDW crowds.

Poly also has some of the most underwhelming Christmas decorations on property. The lobby can't handle a big tree and there has never been a gingerbread display. The Christmas music playlist is also infamous. Not saying it isn't a beautiful resort, just pointing out there isn't ONE specific day in early December where it should be swamped. NYE would be a different story IMO unless the feedback from the 4th of July is taken into consideration by resort management.

My dd did last year, She and a friend did a tour and got a GC. Honestly can’t remember which resort that they had to tour but they were happy to have the GC for spending. Both are AP holders so had time to commit,
I am thinking about it this year, I would like to see the Tower. I either rent points or pay cash for the OG villas, so I didn't tour last year. Are they still giving gift cards?

We were at the Tower for a week over the 4th. It was busy but we were at MK on the 3rd and Epcot on the 4th. By the time we made it back there were waves of people leaving. Our room was at the very end of the Tower overlooking the pool. That meant walking all the way to the middle of the Tower then back to GCH for anything. We definitely got our walking in but enjoyed the stay.

We were at Poly last year and now won't stay there and go to other resorts because it is a madhouse. All of the Deluxe suffer a little from non resort guests but nothing compares to the ridiculousness of Polynesian. This isn't just a 4th of July issue. If you want quick service food you will not get a seat, need to mobile order an hour in advance. Did the glow party, tons of non guests in the party. The Polynesian feels like an extension of the magic Kingdom, not a hotel.

This year at Grand Floridian we noticed an uptick of non guests during the fireworks hour too. So the problem is everywhere but Polynesian has it the worst.
Agree. It’s been spread relentlessly on social media that the deluxe resorts, their recreation, food, and by extension even the pools, can be used as day resorts for free by non registered guests. I see at as a security concern for my family, let alone the bummer that you’re paying full bill to share with whoever walked in. :/ I think society had social boundaries in the past, you didn’t go crash all day at a hotel if you weren’t staying there, maybe walked around after if you had a dining reservation (unless you were a teenager for fun). Now it’s encouraged socially on tik tok to take advantage of it.

Anyone know if cases or packages of bottled water still available at Moana Mercantile?
No I have been stuck buying the larger bottles.

When leaving TS restaurants I have been offered ice water to go and take it.

I also get the ice from ice machine in resorts. When I fill my glass in the room to the top with ice and then add water the water bottle lasts longer. I also prefer iced water so it’s a win win.

In the tower ice is near the elevator. Other buildings near elevator as well just not sure which floor/s.

I’ll be at poly next week. 2 nights at CL in Hawaii and 2 nights Premium View Duo Studio one night,

I have done the tower twice with dh. Dd wanted to try but hard to get a good rate , oddly April was cheaper.

Any info looking for let me know. Last stay in cl was Dec and Tower April TPV and May Std deluxe studios.

I won’t lie I’m not thrilled about doing a duo but dd just gave me a beautiful granddaughter in April and wants to try the water side of the tower so here we go.

Looking forward to Pogmosas, the oasis pool, a dolewhip , waialulu, and a good view from the tower 🤞🏻

Oh got the water view in cl with BB cheaper than resort view with AP. Ice cream for desserts? Hope it’s still there.

*1st time at the same resort 4 trips in a row. I love all of the options for rooms and food! 🥰

Thank you. Was thinking about possibly bringing a filtered water pitcher but not sure. I like to use the electrolyte/flavor packs in the heat, so the Brita filtered water bottle won't work.

Sounds wonderful! CL ice cream was still there in June. My DH may have had one every night in a to-go cup with coffee and Kahlua 😋
