and they don't put the zip code on

Don't they key in each package when you come to the counter? Bummer..I have the best Post Office..each and every zipcode gets punched in.

Put that extra money you saved in a slush fund til the packages are delivered..I think you'll be happy.
I know what you mean about "they just sound like I need to". I'm insuring something I sold last night. It went for far more than it should have, and the insurance is cheap..so I'm sprining for it.

I just want to add my 2 cents to the DC and Paypal. I've used Paypal for years and never had a chargeback, until this week. As a Seller not only do you have to show DC, but you must only ship to confirmed addresses and within 7 days of the person paying with Paypal.

I have to say I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT MY CHARGEBACK  (it was for more than a few $$)! Oh, I feel better now. That's been inside me for 3 days! I did all the right things and the person received his package 6 days from date of payment. He is claiming that it was an unauthorized charge and he knew nothing about it. I sent all the info to Paypal and am waiting for them to make the "final decision". The one problem with this is that if he used a credit card he can do a chargeback with that company and there is nothing Paypal can do about it!

I used to considered not using DC, but my customers would e-mail me constantly about "Where's my stuff!" that I just added the price to my handling charge. Now after I ship the first thing I do is e-mail the customer the DC# and usually never hear from them again until feedback is left.

I hope you can get the shippers assistant to work. When I used it I had the same problem with it freezing up until I downloaded Acrobat 5. It seems to be the only one that works.

:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc YEA!!!!!!!!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I finally got shipper's assistant to work!!!!!!!!! It just suddenly started working right, when I decided I would try JUST one more time!

It locked up on me about 4 times yesterday. So, C.Ann, try again, maybe there was a problem yesterday with the program. I believe we were probably trying about the same time.

Thanks for everyone's help.

They still have to prove you were at fault to their cc..and you have the DC. Although if they are saying unautorized, that may open a whole new ballgame..are they saying someone stole their cc?

I agree, if DC is free, or the people are paying (and as I mentioned earlier I want it on high selling stuff even if I pay, unless they have insured it, since if the item was over $250 you also have to have a signature.) you should get it. But if you are selling items under $4-5, or even under $10..it is not worth IMO paying the .55 (or even the .13 plus time and paper and ink) each time out of your own profit. That could add up to big bucks, that I would rather have in my pocket...and could use in case I ever had a chargeback. As you said it's the first time for you in years..if you had pocketed that .55, that might have more than covered you: )

Hope this works out to your advantage...person doesn't sound very nice.

DMRick,

I know what you mean, I would not be paying for DC out of my pocket. I have enough expenses as it is! Like I said earlier, one of the main reasons I require it is because of customer e-mails. I didn't have enough time in the day to answer them all. The online stamp program I use makes it easy to send automated personalized e-mails with the DC# and link to the post office DC page.

They still have to prove you were at fault to their cc..and you have the DC. Although if they are saying unautorized, that may open a whole new ballgame..are they saying someone stole their cc?

I've heard it is like pulling teeth getting the chargeback reversed through a credit card company. Though I don't know how it can be considered unauthorized when their addy was confirmed with Paypal! Paypal doesn't give you much information. They just sent me an e-mail that said they were reviewing the transaction because of an "unauthorized charge" and to send what I could to prove I was covered under the Seller's Protection Policy. I've thought about it and if Paypal can't get my money back, I will go to his credit card company. Another new experience for me!

Right before the chargeback I was reading a thread on the e-Bay community boards about them and the one post that stuck out in my mind was "it will happen to you eventually" this was from someone who got burned on big time $$$$! And then it happened. I do have a reserve set aside for things like this, you can't be to careful.

Well - I shipped all but two packages this morning without the DC - guess we'll see what happens.. There wasn't anything expensive, so if push came to shove and someone absolutely demanded a refund or whatever, I would just pay it and be done with it..

Delivery confirmation did NOT cut down on my emails asking "Where's my item?" though.. Even with the tracking number, the buyers were either too lazy to check for themselves or felt it was easier to ask me.. Some people are not going to be happy no matter WHAT you do..

I have about $6.05 more in my pocket right now than I would have if I put the DC on everything I shipped today so I'll just put that money away in an "emergency eBay grumblers fund.." :)

I really need to get listing again though.. I barely have ANYTHING up - been too busy the past few days.. I'd like to do some tonight, but I'm too tired to think straight.. Had an awful day at work and almost handed in my resignation right after lunch.. I think for tonight I may just "visit" on the DIS boards till I'm ready to turn in...................;)

Well my slush/didn't get item fund is being purged. I just made ressie's for September LOL. I used the 15% off code from SW that was posted earlier today, got two nights for the $20.03 (and one for $49.90) and still have to decide where to spend the other 4. Mary's special at the Radison looks good..might give that a try.

No, no, NOOOOO!!

You need to go down in December - when I'm there!!

Are any of you guys having any difficulty reaching the boards? None of my links work - I have to go in through the www.wdwinfo.com home page.

I mailed out my first 5 packages today!! :D :D (double yay!) Went very smoothly for DH - the PO guy basically said, "Let me guess - your wife's doing eBay and sending you to the PO to mail everything"!! LOL!!

So far, so good. Waiting on 3 bidders to pay........

December is really my busiest time on eBay..we don't come up for air LOL. We usually go to Dis again in January.

Geesh, it's not like we couldn't almost walk to each others houses LOL. Pick a date, and we'll go have lunch at JJ's.

I just listed my first item, and I have several questions.

#1 if it doesn't sell, do I still pay the listing fee?

#2 I think I remember reading that you still pay for the initial listing fee, but if it gets relisted then somewhere you don't have to pay the listing fee if it doesn't sell. Is that right? And how do you go about it, do you contact them somehow, or does it just get credited.

#3 How do you do checkout? I went thru listing it, and I don't remember that coming up as an option.

#4 can you post a checkout accepting only MO and cashiers checks?

#5 when does the listing fee get charged to your account?

Thanks a bunch! I still am trying to read through all the posts on this thread. Sorry if these have been asked before.

Yes

#2 I think I remember reading that you still pay for the initial listing fee, but if it gets relisted then somewhere you don't have to pay the listing fee if it doesn't sell. Is that right? And how do you go about it, do you contact them somehow, or does it just get credited.

Scene 1) You pay for the first listing. It doesn't sell. You pay for the second listing, it doesn't sell.

Scene 2) You pay for the first listing. It doesn' t sell. You pay for the second listing, it sells, so your first listing fee is credited (you still pay for the second listing).

This is just your straight listing fee. Not your buy it now fee, or your 10 day fee, or your gallery fee. You pay them always, and no refunds.

#3 How do you do checkout? I went thru listing it, and I don't remember that coming up as an option.

I use Vendio, but I bleieve it's right on the form you fill it. It is on Vendio.

#4 no answere..sorry

#5 when does the listing fee get charged to your account?

Immediately. When it sells the end of auction fee also posts imeediately.

#4 can you post a checkout accepting only MO and cashiers checks?

I'm pretty sure you can because I had this experience with a seller last week on an item my son wanted. Kind of ticked me because I prefer to pay and to be paid by PayPal.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't post those payment options, but - judging from my own experiences since starting in late March, the more payment options you offer, the more bids you will receive.. Although I now take Paypal credit cards (and LOTS of people prefer to pay that way) I have cashed LOADS of personal checks as well and never had a problem..

Good luck with your beginning ventures!!! :)

Hurray, someone placed a bid! I am very excited about that, and I plan on doing some more on Friday. I am waiting to do Paypal. I want to earn the money first so I can go and open a new checking account so I can use that for my paypal and not our regular account.

Another question. I was reading the paypal page, but I still am a little confused. how does it exactly work. I have read that people "sweep" out their paypal account, what does that mean, and how do you do it?

thanks!

I think all of the DISer's that ebay, should put in their ebay item description that they DIS! I would feel more comfortable doing business with a DISer!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc (I know...crazy suggestion, but it sounded good to me! ;) )

I have read that people "sweep" out their paypal account,

It means we empty it. I go into my account and tell it to remove the money into my checking account.

Would someone mind giving me the particulars on shipping Media Mail? I have never done it and would like to try it.

Thanks in advance!

I added the html script for the watch list that tells if anyone is watching your item - pretty cool.

I have 8 items that I listed yesterday and no bids yet. I won't get to frustrated because my items last week got bids toward the end. I do have some watchers though.

I don't think my listing prices are out of line. Maybe it's my low feedback- it's all positive but I only have 5 so far. Still waiting for some to leave feedback (that's the reason I tell my DH I have been buying - to get more feedback)

How is everyone else doing this week?
