I don't see any issues with people wanting to wait to go to Disney. Disney (or any other trip) is not cheap. Why go if there is uncertainty? I would hate to spend a ton of money and then end up not seeing the things I wanted to see or ending up in lines to try to fix my magic band or trying to plan months in advance for my ride times.

There is so much to see and do in the world and if you are not comfortable spending a ton of money at Disney right now then I totally agree. There are a lot of just as nice places and experiences out there.

Anyway, it's interesting to take a peek outside of the DIS boards every once in a while and see what the rest of the world is thinking.

I'm not surprised that someone neutral like you are would be scouring the internet and posting something that reports the earth shattering news that some people are not happy with FP+.

If I didn't know better I would think that you are part of that group of some people.

You DO realize not everyone has an up to date phone to make changes on a slow bus. (Which was the example given)

I think people expressing concern for off-site guests are letting their compassion show here. I for one, appreciate that some here think of more than themselves.

This has the potential for negative impact on the casual day guest. After all, not everyone spends hours here learning all the tricks and new systems. They deserve just as much fun as we do.

I have friends and family who just.......show up for the day. Lets hope eventually they feel special too.

I happen to have a circle of friends who don't all have smart phones or other devices. I don't have one myself, although my husband does. It's also pretty uncertain what kind of availability there will be for last-minute changes, especially for headliners.

My friends and family also visit Disney on limited budgets, some with families larger than five, trying to fit as much fun as they can in a day or two at the parks, or saving for a "once in a lifetime" visit. They learned how to use the legacy FP system by talking to friends and family. They will learn the FP+ system, but they won't be able to squeeze as much out of their limited time and money. For my family and theirs, the ease of traveling with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins is also important and will be affected. Sharing a condo was part of that experience, along with riding things together.

There was a counterpoint provided though because they did mention Disney's defense of the FP+ system.

The reporter also was wrong when he said that if anyone had been to Disney in the last 20 years, they would know what a Fastpass is. First, Fastpass hasnt been around that long and second as we all know not EVERYBODY who has been to Disney knows what a Fastpass is. A bit of hyperbole there on ACTUAL facts. Then below in the article, they say Fastpass has been around for 15 years. Very sloppy reporting to trot out as some kind of support

I think it was an astute observation. You could have named that link anything you wanted but you chose to name it with something with a negative connotation. Of course, you have no position on this.

The piece didnt go out on the streets of Cincinnati and interview people. It used Theme Park Insider as the source of its "some fans" that do not like the new FP+ system. Their source was another Disney fan website. It wouldnt even surprise me if they looked on the DIS as well. They didnt present the "rest of the world". They used the Disney fan community as their primary source.

Also, I've already experienced FP+ and the magic bands and it was fine.

Notice, too, who started with the insulting comments. My initial response was purely factual, but he responded with the sarcastic "astute observation" remark and conveniently omitted from his quote my statement that that story was not suggesting that going to WDW was a waste of money.

Also notice that another poster made essentially the same observation that I did, and he didn't jump all over that one.

there is only tiering in two parks Epcot and DHS. So far during the tests they have not been running out of FPs a lot. Thats may change once DHS goes all FP+. TSM will probably be gone quick. Off site guests are essentially doing the same thing as before they still have to go the parks to get their FP+ just you get them all at one place instead of going to each ride. Not every on site guest will book them in advance especially because many don't read these websites and many don't do a lot of planning. I understand everyone is not going to like it disney knows that as well, they can't please everyone that's not possible.

If you are planning a trip right now, you have no way of knowing whether tiering will be in place at MK and AK during your trip. That's one of the uncertainties that would bother me if I was planning a trip.

For those of you sweating FP+ you should only be concerned with any FP if it is going to be crowded during your trip. I have hardly ever used a FP other than when it was busy. TSM was the only attraction I bothered to get a FP for in Feb of 2010. Only wait time over 20 minutes in any park because it almost seemed all of Disney went straight there first thing in the morning for whatever reason. So if you are there in the low crowd times don't waste your time stressing. You won't need them and why Disney uses them during these periods is beyond me. They aren't necessary unless there is a new popular attraction.

Even during the low crowd times of the year, the headliners can be 30 to 45 minute wait times in the afternoon. Personally, I'd rather use FP and wait 5 minutes instead of 30 to ride Space Mountain or Rock n Roller Coaster or Soarin
