Ways to maximize savings when purchasing direct DVC contract.. (credit card rewards etc)

We jumped on the decision to buy direct because of credit card rewards. The benefits of owning direct didn't close the price gap between resale and direct for us, but hitting a new card bonus definitely did. Otherwise we would would have purchased resale, which now is only a $500 benefit to Disney.

However, I don't doubt for a second they're looking into saving money on credit fees, but I think the change is probably going to be around paying dues with credit. The true cost of our contracts aren't the purchase price- it's dues. I can't imagine they're happy paying credit companies year after year like that.
I’m 99% sure our dues cover the fees, so I don’t think they care too much about it for the dues.

Speaking of dues and credit card rewards, I did a test dues payment of $100 on our Chase Sapphire Reserve and that is paying 4x the points, treating it as a hotel payment.

Not sure yet if it's better to do 10+% off gift cards in the future again or start racking up Chase UR points. I love getting those dgc on a discount but 900 pts dues at 4x is a good chunk of potential miles.

They are not paying the swipe fee on due. Members are. It gets added in the dues. It's part of a line item

oh thank you for that information! I value chase / hyatt points at $0.02 per point, so $.08 per is not bad without the hassle of gift cards

It does, but that is also only possible for pre-payment of any remaining balance. So by collecting the balance early vs. collecting 1/12th every month, DVCMC can earn interest on the paid Dues. Presumably, those come close to a push.

(And I know not all credit card payments are full-year at the beginning, but for those that are...)
