Direct Add On Now 25 pt Min on all Resorts!

Let’s discuss: what does it mean to be a “moderate” resort?

I’d say that would be lower room square footage, less convenient transportation, less amenities (no restaurant, only food court), less cost, and typically exterior corridors for room entry.

Some DVC resorts have some “moderate” aspects such as exterior corridors but they have higher square footage. I don’t believe that LSL would categorize as overall moderate
Moderates don’t have patios/balconies, right? If LSL has a lazy river, they’re calling it deluxe regardless of the other amenities.

If they roll LSL in with the cabins, I wonder how the 1BR point chart between the two looks.

I keep thinking that a 50 point CFW contact gets you a week every third year, and the dues would not be that bad on 50 points....

I will have to see if the 7 month availability gets better than it is now when more are sold.
I read this and was like, hmmm, maybe I should look into this.

Yep crazy high dues and you have to pay for a golf cart on top of it and you have to lug your laundry to the laundry room.

Then, just as quickly back to nope, just nope. They really should have put a washer/dryer in these cabins. The dues are what they are and the golf cart I understand, but why oh why no washer/dryer in the cabins. My most recent stay in studios and having to use the laundry rooms has really turned me off to this. Maybe they have a better setup than what I experienced.

You got it easy at RIV!!

Nice A/C.

Now try lugging your clothes to the W/D next to the main pool by OKW in August. I think it was hotter in there then it was in the lighthouse sauna!!

HHI is not great either.

I think Kidani (other than the long hallways) is the best for studio stayers with Community Hall right across the hall.

Back on target yes 1 bedrooms need in room laundry!!!

That sounds rough. I'm not lugging laundry any further than I did at RIV and AKL.

RIV wasn't terrible, but it was busy (probably because of when I went). At Kidani, 2 of the 3 washing machines were out of order. There was an 800 number to call because apparently the washing machines and dryers are run by a third party contractor (I never talked to the front desk but overheard someone else complaining and the front desk saying there wasn't really anything they could do because it's run by a third party). I actually called the 800 number, and got an automated message telling me I needed to call a different 800 number. Then I gave up.

I love the laundry rooms, VGF 1 has the best, they all have these TVs that are usually stuck on some bizarre program like some pimple doctor? I usually grab a drink do a load of laundry and watch some useless television for 30 minutes.

That is the way to do it! Maybe if I had not been doing such short stays at each resort (4/3 night split stay), I could have approached the laundry room with that sort of relaxed and laid back approach. I like it.

I predict that they will make LL a moderate point resort matching the cabins , however to make that work they need to have a much larger resort ( near SSR in size) - So my theory is that they always intended to combine LL (600) and the cabins (360) in the trust, and then they would even out the maintenance fees. Then they could have 300 moderate cash rooms as well.

I do not see adding more deluxe cash rooms when they seem to do better selling value and moderate cash rooms.

But , they do not share occupancy on cash rooms anymore so who knows? Maybe they are booking up WL now?
They don't need more moderate hotel rooms. I think they have trouble filling the ones they have already during many parts of the year.

Were you at Jambo or Kidani? Kidani you could have had a nice couch in front of the tv in community hall.

Sorry the washers were not working.

Unfortunately all of the studio W/D are done by a third party unlike the 1 BR and above that are done by Disney maintenance.

I was at Kidani. It wasn't terrible. There was only one working, but, as I recall, it wasn't long until the load was done and I could put our clothes in. But, once the load was done, I opened it up, and there weren't any clothes in it! I was like, what?!?! Then, I remember my own kids and how I could easily see them coming in there and starting an empty load, and sort of laughed at it. I did notice that the community hall was close, but we never ended up venturing in there. IF I do a studio again with a need to do laundry, I think I'll just need to remember I need to approach it with a little more patience.

I tried that at VGC but the TV was off.
They finally brought a Remote and dropped that off.
No batteries.
Another call and receive batteries and the TV still wouldn't turn on.
Luckily I was on the first floor so I ended up just walking back to my room which then led to another problem.
I couldn't get into my room.
I kept trying my card and there were no lights. (The card worked perfectly fine to get into the laundry room mind you)
Go to the front desk and another key card is issued.
Same thing.
Go back to the front desk and inform them and they are going to send maintenance to look at my lock.
Get back to my room and push on the door and it opens up without any card.

So I always am up early so that is when I do the laundry.
When I went I did the same thing I do at every room and that is to unlock the door with my MB or Key and turn the handle so that I can gently close the door without it banging and waking someone up.
Apparently this time it did not latch/lock after I released the door handle and I didn't think to check if it was locked.

I ended going back to the Front Desk to tell them everything was ok and to cancel maintance.
Well I've gotten into the shower at this point and here comes maintance knocking on the door to fix the lock that is apparently working just fine and let the door slam like 99.8% of the people do.
DS and SO were still sleeping but not anymore!!
SO opens the door and I have to yell that the door was working and we had reported it to cancel them coming.

Needless to say I'm not a fan of studio laundry lol and much prefer the 1 bedrooms with in room laundry!!

Ok so a lot of this sounds like you attempted to do laundry pre coffee.

I’m surprised you got maintenance at VGF - I stayed there right after they switched from the individual bottles to the shampoo on the wall. And housekeeping must’ve mixed up the conditioner and the shampoo and put them both in the same bottle. I went down and asked if they could swap it out and they told me they sure will as soon as I check out. Of course, that was the beginning of my stay. I asked if they could do it sooner and they instructed me that we don’t get housekeeping with DVC. Oh what a flagship……

So not only did doing my own laundry in a laundromat remind me of my dorm days, I was basically using a three in one shampoo like my dorm days.

Yes definitely pre coffee!! lol

This was the other "Flagship" Villas at Grand Californian
I have only stayed in the one bedrooms at VGF so no laundry stories there lol

When you went down to inform them about the toiletries was that in the DVC lobby or the main one?
Such a shame that they didn't even offer you the disposable ones that used to be provided or something else.

Geez what is with the vgf cm's. Dont feel bad they told me that if we dont call the bell man at least 20 mins before 11 am, we would have to transport all of our stuff with no help

Well, that just means your $K is higher than ours was. I don't think ours ever hit four figures, though it might have. (FTR, a Dooney bag would have been under $K in the last 5-10 years, easily.)

It was also the case that we were pretty well matched when it came to buying stuff and our incomes were comparable. So, there wasn't really ever much reason for resentment.
Isn't "$K" four figures by definition? K means a thousand (1K=1,000, 5K =5,0000, etc). I took your $K reference to mean some number of thousands. Is there another use for K I am unaware of?
Curious.

This is something I would use on DH and then get a "do whatever you want" from him.
