Hi All,

BBQ chicken was a nice taste of summer! Finger licking good as they say.

Today, I finalized the menu for my parents 50 anniversary bash this coming Saturday. We are having: cheese and fruit display, passed hor'deurves (scallops & bacon, crab stuffed mushrooms, terryaki beef skewers, cocktail franks in a blanket, mini pizza bagels, and crostinis with garlic, plum tomatoes, calamata olives, basil and fresh mozz.) Dinner will be garden salads, entrees of baked stuffed shrimp, or stuffed chicken breast served with baked potatoes, and glazed carrots. Dessert is yellow cake with chocolate mousse filling and vanilla ice cream.

I ordered cut hydrangea centerpieces. I am getting excited, all this planning and it is almost here...I love a good party!

After trying to chat.....jumping into conversations with no luck I do believe it is this board everyone talks about when they say the "big clique" thread.

Sad but true.
As owner of this thread, I am extremely saddened to read this. We are not a clique. Like another poster said, this thread does move fast. But we welcome everyone. We are really just a group like to cook and share our recipes. We welcome everyone.

Oh that's not fair...I drop in here every blue moon --and add nothing to the mix--tho I DO steal recipes!!!! Just butt in as I did about Sammie..and I am acknowledged. It's true what has been said--it is tough to keep up sometimes with who said what and mention those that pop up here and there..don't take it personally. If I had a dime for every thread here on the Dis where I give my 2 -cents worth and nobody says boo--I'd be hauling it to the bank!

:thumbsup2

Oh and BTW
I am impressed that getting 'together' here has inspired you all to cook and share notes. Whatever it takes to pump up the enthusiasm I am all over it! Love the pictures that make me wish I had exactly THOSE ingredients at the time I am seeing it!

Me--tonight--I had Pizza

Ann - that all sounds incredible! You guys are going to make some great memories. All this talk about your parent's 50th makes me realize that my parent's 50th is coming up in about 6 years. Guess we should start looking forward to it!

And we're awfully glad that you are persistent! We love having you join in!

I told Alan right from the start that I would never iron for him! He can either do it for himself, or be satisfied with the dryer and a spray bottle. Usually, I can get the clothes out of the dryer and hung up before wrinkles set in. What I miss, a few moments in the dryer takes care of it!

See, we've never even done laundry together since we got married. We are responsible for our own stuff - washing, drying, ironing, putting up. He irons almost daily. I purposely buy stuff that doesn't have to be ironed often =)

I'm sorry you feel that way =( I don't feel like it's a clique, I couldn't even tell you everyone that posts on here regularly - there is a wide assortment of people popping in and out to add recipes and dinner ideas. I hope you'll stick around and share recipe ideas if you feel up to it.

Aimee, I make my mac and cheese differently every time. Sometimes I oven bake it, sometimes I just make it on the stovetop. If you let me know whoch method is most appealing to you I will post a recipe.

Hmmm. I think an oven one would be a nice change! Thanks! :flower3:

That sounds delicious!! Are you doing all the cooking yourself?

We ended up getting Taco Cabana (Taco Tuesday) instead - I realized on the way home that I didn't have any veggies for stir fry NOR did I thaw the chicken. Will have it tomorrow night instead! =)

I'm sorry you feel that way. I think we are very welcoming to new posters.

We keep telling her & Laura to audition for the Next Food Network Star!;)

And I am so embarrassed by that!

Have a great time!! I know you have been spending a lot of time planning.

Wow, I can't believe you feel this way. Your post kinda came from left field, no? Not sure why you felt the need to say what you did...but I feel the need to respond. Sad but true.

I remember that you posted and joined a conversation here not too long ago about wine and it seemed like you fit right in. Maybe its the fact that you just started Nutrisystem and haven't been able to contribute to this thread much? :confused3

Yes, we chat but all are welcome...lots of new posters are here sharing recipes, stories and support. I am really sorry you feel this way.

Hope everyone is having a good night...:) I am off to watch Chef Ramsay...

Oh, for Andrew's bball update:

A played all but 1 inning tonight...they lost 8-5...and he struck out 3 times...:sad1: No real action for him. he played mostly left field, 1 inning right field and 1 at 2nd. Thanks for all your well wishes!

Tonight it's leftover chicken provencal stoup and bread.

WFD at your house?

ETA: If you guys recall, I used to have a personal trainer. She had a baby last fall and I quit the personal training studio (NO ONE was as good a trainer for me as she was and it was a lot of money to fork out to not get the same quality of training). Anyway, I spent some money and bought the things I would need to work out at home.

Never happened. Apparently I don't have the discipline. There are way too many distractions here at home.

Long story short, I have joined The Rush. It is an awesome place and believe it or not, they have some accessible machines!! That sold me!!

Anyway, I just had to tell someone. I'm really excited.

Good morning,

Tacos here.

Lindsay, Congrats on your new find. :thumbsup2 I have a hard time working out at home. If I don't get it done in the AM...I don't get it done.

Have a great day all!

I've got a nasty cold. So I'm marinating some country style ribs that DH can throw on the grill and I'll make the spicy slaw and baked beans.

Have a great day all!

Good Monring all,

Haven't been around in a while and just caught up on all the posts (phew!) lots going on!

Last night for dinner was Haddock with onions, butter flavor cooking spray, black pepper, and a pinch of garlic powder, put it all in a cast iron pan and cooked it on the woodstove. Made Rice Pilaf and staemed broccoli to go with it.
Over the weekend I made the chicken enchilada recipe on this board, yum! Boyfriend didn't seem to care for it, so I was FORCED to eat all the leftovers myself.

Tonight is pork sirloin cutlets marinating in a cheriaki (sp) sauce, to be cooked on the grill. Still not sure what I am going to be having with it. Any ideas?

Prayers and good wishes to all

Morning all--didn't make the RR recipe last night--will try again tonight. DH came home from work with a major headache and the only thing that sounded good to him was pasta--so I threw a little spaghetti together

NEVERENOUGHWDW--sorry you feel that way. Never thought this thread was clique-ish. We love new people, cuz that means new recipes and menu ideas to share

Glynis--you are a woman after my own heart--I don't iron either, good thing I don't work in the business world, and that DH has wrinkle free uniforms toi wear in the plant

A quick morning check in....I am starting to get a bit down as my mother's b-day is Friday, so if I seem a bit off you all know why.

Lindsay--Good for you!! I always say I will join a gym, but never do...I do enjoy my treadmill a lot, though like Lauren, unless I jump on in the morning it doesn't get done.

Kathy--you poor thing, if it isn't one thing it is another for you!! Get some rest! I think a cuddle on the couch under a blanket with your sweet sammie is in order for you today!!

Laurie--I loved as a kid when my parents would cook meals on the woodstove. It was that pioneer feel I guess, along with something out of the norm during the long Maine winters.

Ann-your party sounds Fab!! Your parents will be in awe. Keep us posted on all of it, we love this stuff around here!!!

Nancy--How are things going today for everyone?

Sheryl--I am glad to see you checked in, and happy to hear that Alexis is feeling a bit better, how is she this morning? Give her a hug from me please!

Aimee--How are things going at your church, any better? Please know that you and your congregation our in my prayers.

Lauren--Sorry that A's team lost...did he have fun though? The season is just starting lots of time to win!! I always tell Ross that as long as you learned something from the game then you are doing OK. (he is getting to the age now though where he knows that is a crock of you know what, that mothers say, lol)

Ross has late karate tonight so supper will be something with the ground turkey I have out.......along with stuffing and a veggie....WOW other then stuffing who knows what we are eating, lol!!

Have a good day friends! :)

Time sure flies, it will be here before you know it. We did a slide show, and looking at all those old pictures seem like yesterday!

That sounds delicious!! Are you doing all the cooking yourself?
Fortunately no, it is at a nice restaurant called the Lafayette House in Foxboro, Ma.. We are having 80 people, 40 are just immediate...my brothers and their families. It is nice that we can all just be waited on and enjoy the night...and no clean up!!!!!

I'm sorry you feel that way. I think we are very welcoming to new posters.

Have a great time!! I know you have been spending a lot of time planning.

I have felt welcome, since I butted in! I hope my parents enjoy it, I know I will.

You have more discipline than me. Goodluck!

WFD- no cooking for me! Luke and I are eating at DP, Ron has to work.

That's awesome news, Lindsay! I loathe spending $$$ at those kind of places, but I'm the same way regarding exercise & self-discipline. Laundry & cleaning house suddenly become priority! And a big :thumbsup2 to that facility for having accessible machines. It's something that hadn't crossed my mind, but the need is soooo obvious. Now if I can keep my motivation going to keep up my walking routine......

A pleasant spring good morning to everyone else! Not much to contribute lately, but still lurking!

I do have one request. Anyone have a good, easy recipe for fish tacos? I tried one for the first time last summer in Gulf Shores, and I suddenly have a craving for them again.

I have no idea what's for dinner tonight. :sad2: I forgot to take something out to thaw last night. And I am soooooo sad, my grill wouldn't work last night!:headache: I hope it is just out of gas, I had it started and came back to put the chicken on and it was out. With doing WW I am planning on doing lots of grilling this year.

Maybe I'll just make a turkey burger for dinner.

Sorry for using screen names instead of actual names. I promise to learn names soon.

Oh don't worry about that. When I first starting to reply I tried cutting and pasting because I can't spell but that was a disaster. Then I kept a list of names but Risa laughed at me, so now I just hope for the best. I still get mixed up but no one seems to mind :goodvibes

Sorry to cause some of you to worry about my girl! Alexis is feeling better! She ate a little for breakfast & lunch only complaining of pain after she ate. Her temp has gone down too. She's just a little clingy today & has kept me from dis-ing!

I'm glad she is feeling better. That must have been awful.

I'm sorry that you feel this way. I have not seen you post for a while but I honestly did not think much of it. Some folks post often and some pop in and out. Like everyone else I try to keep up but life gets in the way, the thread moves quickly and I know that I miss a lot. I always figured that happened to everyone who stops in.

Heck, half the time nobody says anything about the dinner pictures that I take the time to upload and post. I don't take it personally!

Oh please don't stop posting those pics though! I think that there are times when they are the closest to a restaurant I am going to get for a while!

Today, I finalized the menu for my parents 50 anniversary bash this coming Saturday.

I remember when you started the planning, it has gone by quickly hasn't it? I love a party and while it is fun to plan and then get ready for one, you miss so much while you attend to your guests. This is a special occasion and it is important to share all of it wiht your parents. Take pictures!

See, we've never even done laundry together since we got married. We are responsible for our own stuff - washing, drying, ironing, putting up. He irons almost daily. I purposely buy stuff that doesn't have to be ironed often =)

I can't figure out how you get done what you do, never mind ironing

I've got a nasty cold. So I'm marinating some country style ribs that DH can throw on the grill and I'll make the spicy slaw and baked beans.

Have a great day all!

Get some rest, you are worn out over the past few weeks

Rough first game for him :sad1:. I used to feel so baly when Kim or Debbie struck out. They were both strong players but they always took that hard.

I am planning stuffed peppers tonight with mashed potatoes and brocolli, I think. I use pasta instead of rice so I will mix some of the "smart pasta" in to up the fiber and lower the points.

Myu Aunt should be discharged today if all goes well. Gail said she is crotchety this morning and I guess she ripped my cousin a new ear yesterday. She was fine with me but she still has some issues so I'm glad that Pat was able to get her into the facility where she works. It is my town as well so that makes it much easier for me to visit. on a catty note (and I am a catty gal) the PCA asked me if my cousin was my my mother :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Have a great day All, and please know that your prayers ad good wishes for my Aunt are appreciated more than you know. They helped a great deal. :grouphug::grouphug:
