Afternoon friends---I wanted to check in and see how everyone's day is going. The meeting at school went all day, so I am behind on everything around here.
It was very rough, as we had photos shown to us, which is sooo hard. This child's living condition wasn't fit for sewer rats. We were able to get ahold of an aunt to take her, who after a social worker and background check passed with flying colors. The aunt was furious, and so upset with herself for never seeing what was happening. There will be counsling for all of them.
Thanks for letting me vent! This is one of those days where a glass of wine will be in order, and you try and remember all the training we have had to leave our work behind. (always easier said then done!!) It does make you hug your own a lot harder!!

I am really worried about Alexis, it isn't like Sheryl to not check in and let us know how things are going.

Count me in as another one with a crush on Mr. Ramsay...I love his temper...grrrrr, lol;)

Nancy--I am so glad that you were able to get placement in a nursing home close by, and with a family member working there as well. You my dear are an amazing person, as is Gail. What a lucky Aunt to have such wonderful neices in her corner. Please know that you all continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. I wish I was closer to lend a hand to you all through this transition.

Kathy--How did Sammie make out today? She was the first thing that Ross asked about when we headed home from school today! Give her a pat from us!!

oooo those "fake" chicken and dumplings look good and something that Ross would love to make. He loves to cook too. He will be a great roommate to have in college I swear!!

Lauren--Let us know how A makes out in the game tonight if it goes on!! Wish I was closer to sit with you and cheer him on!

I hope I didn't miss anyone. I am off to iron for tomorrow, swap laundry and make lunches for tomorrow as well. I will try to check back in later this evening. Have a good afternoon ladies.:)

I am sorry your day was rough...I am glad the child is in good hands now.

I am glad that you guys like Gordon as well...I was thinking I was a bit more off the wall! ;)

I will definitely sign in with a bball update.

Thanks for the reminder. I have to go iron Tom's clothes. I never ironed for him in the beginning...then Nancy made me feel guilty! :rotfl: :lmao: JK, Nancy. Thank God he doesn't have to get dressed up everyday...dockers and polos are easy to iron. I am horrible at it and burn myself all the time. :confused3

Anyone else excited about Hell's Kitchen? I think I have a crush of Chef Ramsay...is that crazy?

I love Chef Ramsay! Buddy cannot stand the yelling and won't watch him but that only makes it easier for me to drool...over the food , of course :rolleyes1
QUOTE]

I LOVE him and have a crush as well! I'm telling you we are twins!!

Count me in on LOVING Hell's kitchen!!! Greg likes it as much as me, so its a fun one for us to watch together..unlike " The Hills" ..i am alone on that one :rotfl:

Wendie- :grouphug::grouphug: God Bless you and the strong people who advocate for thee poor babies. I just don't understand how anyone could harm such a precious gift and why people do not move Heaven and Earth to give their children the best that they can :sad1:

Lauren- don't let me make you guilty, I am up to my elbows in wash and ironing and if you came to my house I would be a little embarrassed, I have mineaux (sp?) flying around everywhere

I am worried about Alexis as well. Sheryl generally checks in somewhere.

Nancy- Glad to hear things worked out for the best with your aunt.

I love Hell’s Kitchen! Can’t wait for the show tonight.

Kathy- Sammie is a cutie! Glad she is better now.

Nucpharm- RR is one of my favorite Food Network chefs.

FormrCastMbr- The fake dumplings are good. As typical with an 11 yr old he has now changed his mind and wants grilled hot dogs instead. Good luck to your son on his game tonight.

Glynis- The chicken sounds good. I’ll have to add that to my “try” list.

Wendie- I’ve always said Tyler is going to make some very lucky woman a great husband. He keeps his room clean and loves to cook.

AimeeDyan- For a quick chicken stir fry I just throw some chicken in the wok, add some stir fry veggies, and either teriyaki or soy sauce depending on our mood.

As mentioned before my *chef* has changed his mind about what he wants for dinner so tonight will be hot dogs with chili and cole slaw and I’m thinking of throwing together a peach cobbler real quick.

Lauren -- Good luck to Andrew! I hope they get the game in.

Nancy -- I'm glad things worked out for the best with your aunt. As others have said, you and your sister are wonderful people to care for her so well.

Wendie -- You deserve that glass of wine. I know I wouldn't have the strength to do your job, but I am glad that there are people like you who do.

I am trying my new fondue pot tonight. At Beck's suggestion, I picked up some chicken apple sausages, plus I'll make broccoli, french green beans, bread (of course) and baked potatoes.

Sorry for using screen names instead of actual names. I promise to learn names soon.

No worries...its hard. I am going to add my name to my signature...it will be easier for you...;)

Thanks for the well wishes for my son. It is starting to drizzle so who know what is going to happen.

Thanks!

I was going to post when Becky posted her pics. WHen I made her fondue, we had some type of dried sausage. I was a little leary (sp) at first but it was really good. I am sure the chicken apple is great!

Thanks - I went and got it!

I hope you like it. It was the best stir fry that I have ever made. I think I'm gonna have to make it again soon! I took a pic that day but it was so hot the steam was blurrying the shot.

Hey Y'all,

Sorry to cause some of you to worry about my girl! Alexis is feeling better! She ate a little for breakfast & lunch only complaining of pain after she ate. Her temp has gone down too. She's just a little clingy today & has kept me from dis-ing!

I have no idea what's for dinner.

Nancy, Glad to hear you're Aunt is doing better. The nursing home close by sounds good.

Wendie, There is a place in Heaven for you & all the other people in your field! I don't know how y'all handle it, but thank God y'all are there to help those children!

Wendie - God Bless You. I admire your strength to be able to deal with such difficult situations.

Sammie did great today, she's really surprising everyone!!:thumbsup2

Sheryl - Glad to hear that Alexis is getting better. I know she got some Nana TLC today.:goodvibes

I told Alan right from the start that I would never iron for him! He can either do it for himself, or be satisfied with the dryer and a spray bottle. Usually, I can get the clothes out of the dryer and hung up before wrinkles set in. What I miss, a few moments in the dryer takes care of it!

After trying to chat.....jumping into conversations with no luck I do believe it is this board everyone talks about when they say the "big clique" thread.

Sad but true.

Don't worry about that! You'll catch on quickly! As for me, when I signed up for the DIS years ago, it was just to ask some questions about Disneyland. I wasn't planning on making it a habit. So, I just used my real name. Who knew that I would find a whole new family! I thank my lucky stars every night for the wonderful people that I've "met" here! Alan does too! He can see that you guys keep me sane and happy! He even asks about y'all. He loves to see all the food porn, and never questions when I ask him to pray for someone.

I'm sorry that you feel that way! It is completely unintentional. We love to have new people. Don't leave!!! Give us another chance. Would it help if we introduced ourselves?

I'm Glynis, a SAHM to 4 kids (wonderful most of the time, but they have their moments). I'm a relative newbie in the kitchen, but I'm learning and enjoying every minute of it! I've been to WDW 1 time (hope to do it again, but airfare from Utah is killer!!), and to DL too many times to count. My husband jokes that I'd live there if I could. Little does he know that when he retires, we are going to take up residence on Main Street U.S.A!

So, tell us a bit about yourself. Your likes and dislikes!

Everyone is welcome to post here. We are not a clique. Sometimes this thread moves a little fast and it is impossible to respond to every post! Heck, half the time nobody says anything about the dinner pictures that I take the time to upload and post. I don't take it personally! I hope that you will stick around and share some recipes with us. :)

WFD tonight...leftover chicken from last night's oven barbequed chicken sliced on baguettes with lettuce, onions, tomatoes...maybe some cheese and/or bacon. Yes, it is junk food in front of the TV night! Bring on American Idol, ha ha!

Aimee, I make my mac and cheese differently every time. Sometimes I oven bake it, sometimes I just make it on the stovetop. If you let me know whoch method is most appealing to you I will post a recipe.

Liamsaunt Just so you know I check everyday for your pictures as I'm envious of how wonderful they look.:worship:

Hello peeps! How is everyone doing?

Kathy I love the picture of Sammie. I am so glad she is doing so well. I so hate it when the furry kids get sick. Hershey, a couple of years ago got into something and was very sick. The vet though he had pancreatiitis not a good prognosis turns out he didn't have that but some mystery illness. He was only down for a couple of days but it sure made us sad.

Nancy i'm so glad your aunt is getting the care she needs. Hopefully your cousin will "see the light".

NEVERENOUGHWDW Sorry you feel left out. Yes this thread sometimes does move fast, but it is not intentional. It's is never has been anyones intention to leave anyone out.

I've no idea what I should be cooking for dinner. I really should go any look.
