I've got to share this. But I'm not sure why. I've had 2 incidents that are kind of sad...but in different ways.
First one. Sunday. This one has sort of happened before. Mom with kids with clearly little money (old out of style clothes, dirty clothes, unkept overall appearance, thin). You know what I mean. They each repeatedly come back to table for many samples of food. Sad, because that candy bar, or sweet item, or goodie is obviously something they can't afford. So their visits to my table are like a special trip to McDonalds.
Second one. Today. Young girl around 6 or 7 yrs old. Sadly obese for her age. (genetics? maybe?)

Comes right up to table & has hands immediately on cereal & granola bars before I could even say anything. I get her to stop, & ask where's your mom? I loudly call over to mom (who couldn't care less) "is your daughter allergic to any food"? Mom's reply - "no, she can have them". OK, mom was so far away....I highly doubt she even knew what her daughter was about to eat...nor how many samples she was taking or just ruined. Mom was quite large herself. Halfway back to mom, child drops 1/2 of samples on the floor. Sigh. While I'm picking them up, mom strolls over & says, I need some for the "baby" too. I glance up to the "baby" in the carriage. Maybe 3-4 yrs old. Ok, they are gone. Later, obese 6-7 yr old just shows up again alone...again hands all over food...and says "my dad wants some". Well dad instantly appears (yup, he's a large man too), & says, put those back, I don't want any.

I go to take them so I can throw in the trash...and the 6 yr old grabs them back & starts eatting. That poor child really has no one watching what she's eatting, or how much she's eatting, or cares. Her size was really very sad to see.
