I am curious how people dress for formal night on the Wonder in Alaska. Given the winter coats, layers, etc. packing for the trip will involve a lot of stuff and I am wondering what I can avoid bringing. Thanks!

Based on our 2022 Alaskan Cruise, which was in May, people will be dressed anywhere from full on formal wear to casual on formal and semi-formal night. I don't do the dress up, since I'm very uncomfortable in formal wear so I was in shorts and a polo shirt on those two nights, which my dressed in nice pants and top.

We packed a lot of cold weather clothing that we didn't end up wearing and except for the day at the glacier, we didn't need the cold weather clothing. I spent most of the cruise in shorts and a t-shirt, since the temp was between 67 and 74 degrees on the port days of our cruise. According to some of the tour guides, the week before, it was cold, with a mix of snow and rain, so, you just have to be prepared for just about any type of weather.

I was on an Alaska sailing at the beginning of the month, so hopefully I am able to provide some help. 1) I was surprised by how many people were wearing formal wear given the need to bring so many different outfits on an Alaskan cruise. 2) Out of all of the 7 night sailings (usually more people dress-up on longer sailings) that I have been on, the Alaska formal night had by far the fewest amount of people dressed formally. So in summary, there were more people than I expected but not as many as usual.

I will concur with one of the previous posters that Alaska has been my most casual cruise of the ones i have done. There were a lot of sweatshirts at dinner throughout the cruise.

Formal and semi formal nights on DCL are completely optional so you can dress casually every night if you want. I just bring one dressier top and wear it to the dress up nights with my black pants, and do the same for Palo since we pack light.

I don't think I saw a single person in very formal wear on our cruise this year. I did see several people is dressy casual, as well as several people in their every day clothes.

Alaska is tough to pack for. By the time I get my thermal underwear, ski parkas, gloves, raingear, boots, etc. into my bag, there isn't a lot of room for formal wear.
