Honest question. Is there really any difference in “sun tea” and regular iced tea?
Nope. Not really, although I have heard that making sun tea can harbor more bacteria than brewing tea with boiling water and pouring it over ice. My mom fried it when I was young (lots of sun in Florida) and we never had any health issues from it.

I love tea, but I am very sensitive to caffeine. So I brew a couple of glasses worth at a time on an occasional basis. I would not brew sun tea because I wouldn’t drink it all.

I have to limit caffeine, so I drink decaf tea/coffee. I forget sometimes that if I order an iced tea when I am out someone where that it isn't decaf, since that is all I buy/make at home.

My parents make sun tea all the time in the summer. I make a couple of times a summer. I love it and should make it more often. Today would have been a great day to make it!

We made it once for our kids about 30 years ago. These days, being diabetic, unsweet ice tea is my drink of choice when I eat in a restaurant, and sparkling water at home. Never was a huge iced tea fan, but I have learned to tolerate it. So no, we don't make it at home or drink iced tea at home.

Never liked the taste of tea regardless of it be iced tea/sweet tea/sun tea or however else you make it. Just always seemed to have a flavor I never cared for. Sweet tea is apparently a common name in the south for tea that has sugar in it.

Also can recall reading some articles about how there can issues with this product if it sits too long and/or never reaches a high enough temperature. Never made sun tea.

I always have a pitcher of iced tea in the fridge, however I brew it on the stove. My dad was big into sun tea when I was a kid, but there was a big push by Lipton regarding sun tea then. I actually found one of the commercials...

Never had it and never even heard of it, although probably unsurprising in the UK. Probably wouldn't choose to drink it either as iced tea in general isn't my thing.

My mother made it sometimes when I was a kid. Most of the time she just did regular brewed tea. She would do it on the stove. She would take a big pot, add water, sugar, tea bags all together and cook it. It was really good, although she did burn a pot or 2 when she forgot it was on the stove. I will never forget the smell of burning sugar and tea, LOL

I made sun tea for a while. It just tastes like mildewed tea to me. Not a clean, crisp flavor. I prefer brewed tea used for iced tea.

My mom used to make sun tea all summer long! I loved it and made it myself many times as an adult. I liked experimenting with different flavor combinations.

I haven't made any lately, though - I really should make a batch!

Blast from the past, as others have said. We made it for a few years but then the fascination went away. DH makes iced tea now; he puts the tea bags and cold water in a container just before going to bed at night, then takes it to work with him the next morning.
