Waiting List Opinion

I'm waiting for an ROFR right now for OKW for 280 points. When I called about the waiting list just in case I did not get it, I was told that they needed a credit card that htey could put 500.00 on if they found the right one. Does anyone think that I should take the chance and get on the list just in case they ROFR me, or wait it out and then be at the bottom of the list. If I ask for the same thing then maybe they will buy up my resale and I will end up paying the same thing. What do yo think?:yo-yo: I feel like I'm on a yo-yo

That's pretty standard procedure. When you buy direct, they ask that you put at least $500 down to start the paperwork moving.

In the case of these add-ons, I'm sure it's to simplify the process so that they don't have to go chasing people around when the points become available.

You wouldn't actually be committed to the points until you've signed the paperwork, and even they you have a few days to change your mind by law. It would be worth confirming that the $500 is a REFUNDABLE deposit, but I don't see how it could be otherwise.

EDIT: I should add that I wholeheartedly agree with Carol's post below. If you have the funds to go resale, don't immediately bail and assume your only choice is to pay $89 through DVC. If this offer falls-through, find another resale and offer a couple dollars more per point.

Why take a chance? As you mentioned, you could be working against yourself. Patience might still be a virtue, LOL!

FWIW, my opinion is to wait and see how the ROFR turns out. I don't think there are as many people waiting for OKW points thru Disney as there may be for the other three sold out resorts. Good chance you could get lucky! Hope so.

Best wishes -

Thanks for the input. The way the Disney rep made it sound, is that I would be entering into a contract immediately if she found the points. I'm not sure there is a grace period.

II have an April use year at BWV currently waiting on ROFR. I'm also on the waitlist for a BWV resale with a Feb use year. I did confirm with my guide that the $500 is completely refundable, just like if you bought new, since with all timeshare purchases there is a grace period to change your mind. You won't be notified about the $500 being charged until AFTER the points have been found, and by the time your guide calls you, the $500 will have been posted to your card. I decided it's worth it to hedge my bets and see what happens. If I make it through (I doubt it though) then I'll take myself off the waitlist. If I don't, I'll still look for a resale, and then up my offer on a new one, all while waiting for the waitlist to come through. Now, if the waitlist comes through while I'm waiting on ROFR than I'm basically up the tree.
