Up and the crack of dawn...to check out. A sadness to the most magical vacation ever. Oh well, the flight doesn't leave til 6 and Tiffany will be here at 4. We'll check out, zip to the monorail resorts and that'll be it until 2005.
We call the front desk and lickity split they send someone to bring our bags and tired bodies to Custom House. We check out and then slip over to the bus stop for the Magic Kingdom. True Disney magic and 4 mins later the bus comes. We get off and hop on the monorail to the Contemporary and are duly impressed. Here's a quick observation from somebody who didn't stay there. We arrived at breakfast time and Chef Mickey's was packed and spilling out to the concourse...and the concourse Steak House was open but almost empty. I know Chef's has Mickey there but for the waiting times I'd choose the Steak House. My observation, don't kill me.
The monorail for GF comes and off we go. Another observation...we felt like we needed a credit check just to walk in. What a beautiful hotel but to me (again, no flames) it felt like Biff, Skippy and the Gang from the yacht club were waiting. Don't get me wrong, it was fantabulous; just not my style.
We take the monorail back to the Magic Kingdom (the Poly didn't look inviting but maybe its because we saw the entire back garbage area) and we were getting anxious to get back and hop a ride or two before the flight.
Splash Mountain, Pirates and people watching and back to the hotel in time for Tiffany to pick us up. I can't say enough good about Tiffany because right at 4 he pulls up and we're off... in the middle of one last parting shot of Florida rain.
The security line at the airport really needs a Fast Pass. We were there for 30 mins and I had to take off my shoes, change, belt, wallet and still set off the alarm. DD had to remove her sandals. Just as we get to our gate the thunder and lightning show starts and the airport closes. Uh oh...we have a connecting flight in Salt Lake City. The weather doesn't care and in fact lightning strikes the runway right in front of DW who is now a bit nervous. An hour later the storm leaves and we board.
Its a 4 hour flight to SLC but with the cramped seating and 4000 screaming teens aboard its a 20 hour flight I swear. We land at SLC and because our flight was late we had to literally run clear across the state to the next gate. Who'd a thunk SLC had such a big airport? We arrive just as they announce boarding and again, its cramped with a group of kids behind us lamenting how scared they are all the way back to Seattle. On top of that the audio system didn't work very well so the TV was a no go. 14 hours (ok 90 mins) later we land in Seattle and home.
It was a great vacation, a great time in spite of the cramped seating on the planes and we are already planning for THE TRIP--PART 2
