I totally thought I had posted that here last week and really missed out on all of these prayers for her. We really appreciate it!!!

God's timing is perfect, so don't you worry about that. He's pretty good about laying what needs to be prayed about on someone's heart when it's needed.

Since my last post was completely depressing, I decided I should post something a little more fun and more indicative of a regular day for Lauren and her family...

Lauren was working on a research paper today with her Mom helping her and it wasn't going so well...Lisa didn't really know what she was doing enough to help her.

So they decided to let her kitten help instead...

Ha! And isn't she so cute!!!!


But, alas, the kitten got tired of reading all about C.S. Lewis and decided it was time for a nap.

And there is sweet Lauren - grinning as always.


They are such a delight to be around. Credits for these two pics go to her Mom - she texted them to me.

Ok, so I'm uncultured swine and wouldn't know Durer from Duran Duran. Still, it looks like a very cool museum and tour, and an amazing experience for the two of you.

Plus, now I know how to use paint-like stuff on the rolling thingy!

I lovet the pictures from the tour. I'm a complete history nut, and love tours that really set the time and place for visitors. The fact that it's self guided is even better.

All caught up. SO sorry to hear about the revenge of the berries. Nothing like having one of your favorite things take you down like that!

What a lovely lovely tour you and Anara had and your bunny is divine.

I am however most impressed with Tate's hat. that's nice!

The tour was so fun! Especially nice all tanked up on sausages and kraut!

As nice as it gets. Tate's such a naughty tater.

But the whole thing was a huge blow to her Mom - she does radiology for a living, so she can spot a bad xray a mile away. Please pray for her whole family as they try to make some decisions and digest all of this.



I feel bad posting and running...but Liesa had not seen this and I wanted to make sure you guys were aware of the latest.

Which is the LAST think Lisa needs right now!!! My heart just aches for that family!! I know they know deep abiding joy and love, but such hardships, so often!

I PROMISE!! Eventually, we WILL get to the Disney trip itself- it was such a long road there!!! Far longer than anyone else who just gets in a plane and takes off.

Perhaps someday you can go back- but honestly I was very surprised at how much we saw and got done in so short a time. We only really had like 2 and half days.

Mark, you nut! Your a lot of fun to read, with people like you and Great Biscuit, Liesa, and Jordy there is no way I'll ever be brave enough to write a TR, I just don't think have enough funny in me, maybe other things , but not enough funny to make it an interesting read.

Feeling somewhat guilty about leaving everyone behind in Mooseville, it was time to check back in. Nope, wasn’t going to happen that we’d venture out as a group of 6 for dinner. Instead, we were assured that they did NOT want to hit the:

with us- we were yet again on our own. But first, we were given a charge. A very important errand that took WAY longer than I thought it would. We were sent out to find some over the counter anti-puke formula. Would Germany have such a magic potion?? Would I have to find a doctor instead?? Magdalene had offered, as well as her parents, to help us find a clinic or physician in necessary, and seriously, if the kids, who were STILL throwing up on and off, were not done by the next morning, we would have definitely sought one out. Yes, it was slightly better, mostly because they were able to sleep, but not good enough for me to want to get back on a plane in a day and a half. I mean the world only has so many barf bags.

So, back out Anara and I went, first in search of a pharmacy, and then to dinner. Now finding English speakers is really not a problem; that part was pretty easy, but finding one who knew the meaning of “pharmacy” proved a little tougher. Had I known that I could have used the Russian word “Apteka”, it would have gotten me a lot further, a lot faster. Next time, I’ll know that the word is “Apoteka”, and reduce my wandering time by half. After a few tries we found one, who had several choices of herbal remedy, and having purchased one, we went on our merry way.

I would have loved for our walk to have been more of an adventure with the leisure of taking more pictures and seeing more things, but by this time, we were freezing our tooshies off. As evening came on, the mist picked up some and we were COLD!! So, instead we fast walked, sort of like Rope Drop stampeding to Toy Story Mania. Well, not quite that fast, but quick enough to work up some body heat, and to work up an appetite worthy of the German food we were about to consume. I’ll bet your dying to see where we went to eat like pigs, aren’t you?? Well, first I have to show you a few of the more scenic shots I did manage to take along our fast-walking way:

I’m sure this fountain has quite a story behind it, but I could not find any information about it, or its history. Regardless, we had a couple minutes of fun posing with the gigantic claws spilling over the sides!

Anara was particularly enamored with this little garden, and wanted to fiddle with the camera- despite becoming increasingly cranky for lack of sustenance and a chilled little frame. I had to crack up at how it turned out like I was posing like a Spiegel’s catalogue- I have no idea what attracted my attention.

And now, it was crunch time for finding the place we had chosen. Actually, Magdalene helped us HUGELY in the task of pre-choosing a place to nosh. She had come up with a list of 4 or 5 places, and we chose, in our lack of enthusiasm to endure traipsing around in nearly Arctic conditions, a place pretty close to our hotel. What we didn’t realize was that we were going the completely opposite way in finding the Apoteka. So, by the time we arrived here:

it was getting rather late.

We chose The Witch’s Little House- or Hexenhausel. Ok, I have to be frank here… this place freaked Anara out the entire time we were there. Here’s why:

All around the vast and quaintly wooded outside seating area there were witches on brooms hanging or perched in the trees. It totally reminded me of a German fairy tale set in the Black Forest like Hansel and Gretel. The restaurant’s indoor seating area was packed with not ONE empty table! OH NO!!!!!!! We were doomed to a freezing meal huddled together while gorging on these:

Now how’s that for some rich, 4 million calorie laden, plate o’ German fare?? Uh huh, that’s what I thought you’d say. I know my readers, and they know me- enough that they probably have already guessed that we ate about 1/3 of this food, and then took the rest back to make sure we left the Moose Hotel’s fridge fully krauted out.

Here are the descriptions from the menu:

I really had my eyes set on the apricot dumplings, but alas, a gastric explosion would have sent the witches flying out of the Hexenhausel, and a Nuremberg landmark would have been no longer.

Before we left, Anara needed to use the potty, and since I have taken Cruel Parenting 101, I sent her here:

All by herself. It was only about 30 feet away, but I sent her anyway, to face the witches all alone. Sue me. Someone had to wait for the check, and get our to-go boxes. She did come back safely, managing to outsmart any hairy-warted hags, and joined me for our brisk, cold walk home in the deepening twilight.

The day had been long and filled with wondrous sights, great food and lots of it, and enough barfing to make any epidemiologist quake in their lab coat. It was time to cozy down under my hideous chandelier, and dream of German pastries taunting me from inside bakery windows.

My stomach is about to burst, just looking at those pics! Poor Anara, I hope she didn't have nightmares sleeping in Mooseville after wandering around the enchanted forest! I hope everyone gets better quickly.

Oh my gosh Liesa, that food looks devine!
I normally don't like German food, or so I thought when I found out that most of what I've been served didn't even touch the surface of German foods! Or maybe it was the fact that I was pregnant and had major morning, afternoon and evening sickness at the time. When preggers I thought that cilantro tasted like soap, if that gives you any indicators of what my palate was tasting.
Now living in Texas and having many a salsa fresco with cilantro, I love it!
I also love it on my taco's, but it's not a staple for said food.
So no worries Magdalene, incase you and your sis come to visit me in Texas. We won't force you to eat cilantro, promise.

Now I can't wait to try all kinds of new foods in Germany, just reading the menu makes my mouth water. Uh oh! I'm drooling again Liesa

Of course looking at the beautiful pictures of Germany I'm falling more and more in love. Although, I could live without the witches while I'm eating. Bless little Anara's heart!

I spoke with Bekka today! She's a sweetheart, I love it when your kids answer the phone, they are so smart and very polite. I've raise my children to be polite as well, but of course at home they aren't so nice with me all the time. It's sooo refreshing to hear other children so wonderfully polite, considerate, and able to hold a conversation with an adult so well. Good job mom!
