hahahahahahaah! I can see any little one being freaked out by those witches! I would have been freaked out! :rotfl::lmao:Your meal look yummy! Sigh I miss German food!

On the architecture, I'm guessing from the Baroque period, but that's a total guess. I'd have to look at my art history books to really know.

That is some serious German food. I feel full just looking at it. :lmao:

I think I would have been a bit freaked out over the witches too, I don't blame your daughter. :rotfl: The food looks wonderful. Suddenly the peanut butter sandwich I have waiting for my lunch isn't looking quite so appetizing any longer.

i'll have to get back to for real replies in a bit, for now, TK, I was wondering specifically at the bay window structures. We saw quite a few, and somehow, "bay window" I think, sadly misses the mark on the real word. Anyone know??

:scared1: Those witches are spooky!! I don't blame DD for being freaked out!

That lamb in rosemary sauce on the menu sounds good!

Apoteka, like "apothecary"...cool!

What a fun restaurant. It really does make you think of Hansel and Gretel.

That second plate looks especially good to me. Mmmmmm.

Cruel parenting 101! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Those witches do look a little scary, but that food looks really really good. thanks for posting more interesting pictures of nuremberg. I know I said this before, but what a cool place!

Mark, you nut! :lmao: Your a lot of fun to read, with people like you and Great Biscuit, Liesa, and Jordy there is no way I'll ever be brave enough to write a TR, I just don't think have enough funny in me, maybe other things , but not enough funny to make it an interesting read.

We missed you! I would see you post from time to time on FB but didn't know where you had gone to on here. :confused3
Glad your back! :goodvibes

Liesa, can't wait to hear more from you about Germany. Especially about two special ladies we all know and love. :lovestruc

I've been off my funny game for a long time, Camille. It takes extra time to pull that out (at least for me) and I don't have a lot of that left anymore.

ANyway, I do hope to get a few posts up this week, as I'm anxious to get on with the Disney part- as I'm sure all of you are as well.

Okay, I, J, K, and L - all wonderful posts minus the whole puking from the berries thing. The sausages and kraut had me drooling!

LOVED the tour, your souvenir is incredible! How cool that they had it all set up like that instead of just buying a simple print that was already done.

Puking and berries just don't seem like they should belong to each other do they??

Yeah, it was sooooooo interactive- the tour- I loved that!

I have been both busy and tired since Albany !!!Tomorrow I will call Phil and ask him to upload the pix of Albany !! Plus I need to get some pix printed for scrap books at the houses etc !!I have not had the energy since my busy October to keep up with all the threads and my own TR so forgive me for anything I missed !!!! Love ya !!! Chat tomorrow when after I get my running around done and house chores is Dis day !!!

Oh goody, goody, goody!! Pix of you and Tracy!!

My stomach is about to burst, just looking at those pics! :rotfl2: Poor Anara, I hope she didn't have nightmares sleeping in Mooseville after wandering around the enchanted forest! I hope everyone gets better quickly.

My stomach almost did burst! I was so full!! If I had played it smart I'd have ordered ONE Of those, and then went in deep with the apricot dumplings!

Hi Liesa,
I think I've poked my head out of lurkdom before, but if not, hi there!:goodvibes

Your TR has been full of many ups and downs, poor puking children and husband, lovely German art and architecture. I cannot blame your daughter for being a bit frightened of those witches..... yeah, I think they would've freaked me out just a little.

I am thoroughly enjoying your report and we haven't even gotten to WDW yet! I will patiently wait for the next installment.popcorn::

Oh my gosh Liesa, that food looks devine!

Thanks!! I'd say we did ok ordering; it was just too much!

Now living in Texas and having many a salsa fresco with cilantro, I love it!
I also love it on my taco's, but it's not a staple for said food.

YUM!!! tacos with salsa fresco! simply the best food ever created!

Now I can't wait to try all kinds of new foods in Germany, just reading the menu makes my mouth water. :lovestruc Uh oh! I'm drooling again Liesa
Drooling.gif
, your posts have a way of doing that to us!

Truly we had some very good food this trip- the next post features a breakfast like only the Europeans can come up with! OH, and more pastries.....:rolleyes1

Of course looking at the beautiful pictures of Germany I'm falling more and more in love. Although, I could live without the witches while I'm eating. Bless little Anara's heart!

THey are actually sort of cute in a folksy sort of way. I think there must have been like 8 or so of them "hanging around".

I spoke with Bekka today! :goodvibes She's a sweetheart, I love it when your kids answer the phone, they are so smart and very polite. I've raise my children to be polite as well, but of course at home they aren't so nice with me all the time. It's sooo refreshing to hear other children so wonderfully polite, considerate, and able to hold a conversation with an adult so well. Good job mom! :thumbsup2

She's a very good girl, and can hold a nice conversation. I'm a proud mom of all my kids!

hahahahahahaah! I can see any little one being freaked out by those witches! I would have been freaked out! :rotfl::lmao:Your meal look yummy! Sigh I miss German food!

I saw another family of Germans come in here with 2 boys. I think it may be one of those Nuremberger landmarks for locals that has quite a following. Am I right, Magdalene?? The word that wholly defines this meal was RICH!

Great Witch Update !! The pix are great!!! The menu was in English???? The food looked great!!

Every menu we got was in English; just like anywhere else AMercans go, they stand out like warts on a witch's face. I think they picked us out immediately and assumed we were too uncultured to know a 2nd language. :lmao:

On the architecture, I'm guessing from the Baroque period, but that's a total guess. I'd have to look at my art history books to really know.

That is some serious German food. I feel full just looking at it. :lmao:

See comment below...

It was!! Although, I'd have preferred some speatzel (sp?) to more kraut- becuase everyone knows what THAT does!

I think I would have been a bit freaked out over the witches too, I don't blame your daughter. :rotfl: The food looks wonderful. Suddenly the peanut butter sandwich I have waiting for my lunch isn't looking quite so appetizing any longer.

Tasted GREAT! I"m sure with witches doing watch care the cooks made sure to do their very best. So how was your PB sandwich??

:scared1: Those witches are spooky!! I don't blame DD for being freaked out!

That lamb in rosemary sauce on the menu sounds good!

Hi Tink!! I think the spooky factor went way up when I hyped them up some. She enjoyed the mystery of them some I think in the end! We still talk about our scary meal at the Witch's Little House.

Apoteka, like "apothecary"...cool!

What a fun restaurant. It really does make you think of Hansel and Gretel.

That second plate looks especially good to me. Mmmmmm.

I was wondering if anyone would pick up on that!!!! Kudos, Glenn!! I made the connection there as well, and now, you know a word that I think will serve you well in most European or former CIS countries!! :thumbsup2

Yes, I needed some bread crumbs to trail behind me on the way out, I think!

Those dumpling like things were pretty good, except, I think the "sausage" in the middle actually had some liver mixed in. I like liver, but it just didn't seem right in this- at least I wasn't expecting that.

Cruel parenting 101! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Those witches do look a little scary, but that food looks really really good. thanks for posting more interesting pictures of nuremberg. I know I said this before, but what a cool place!

Hi Mary Ellen!! It was truly a memorable place- one we'd go back to WITH a reservation. Which we should have done, but dropped the ball on. Ah well, next time we'll know that the places Magdalene recommends will be the best ones that will need an ADR. :lmao:

More interesting pix coming up- we still have a day and a half to show you!

I think you actually have posted here once or twice!! But I think another :welcome: is in order!! Great that you keep coming back for more!!

Ups and downs is a GREAT way to describe this last round of travel for our family! But, taking the good with the bad is often the only way to get the good. And really, this waylay was good for those who were going to be sick anyway! Better here than on a plane!!

Glad you are enjoying yourself here! Come around often and make yourself comfy! We enjoy lots of company!

Great Update Liesa.

Now I'm reaching back to my Art History days in college (Which wasn't all that long ago. I've only been out of school for 3 years) But I believe that style of architecture is Gothic. I believe the Gothic style actually originates from Germany.

The Hexenhausel looked really cool. Some of those witch were pretty darn scary. I was waiting for you to say one of them invited Anara to come warm up in their Gingerbread House. :rotfl:

The pukers were really missing out:sick:

Your writing is hilarious!!! I also took the same parenting class. Eh, whatever works, right? ;)

Those witches are sooooo funny!!!

It might be.... I really need to go back and do some research. I did spend the morning lookinng for what those style of windos is called and came up with "bay windows" and even found a picture of this VERY window in my search. It'd be fun now to go back and look carefully at Cindy's castle and see if there are any of these on it!!!

:lmao::lmao::lmao: That would have been a good line- but had I said it there, she'd have had a potty accident on the way home for fear of the bathroom! :rotfl2:

Bribery works too. Reverse psychology isn't bad either in some cases. :lmao:

They were funny!! my photos were pretty bad, but I played with the photo editing on the computer and they really brightened up! I love them now!

If someone can tell me what this architectural form is called, I’d be very grateful:
It's called Ornatelookunvinderbuildin and it was quite common during the time that it was popular. (Which of course was during the century preceeding the one in which it was no longer popular.)

You're welcome.

Great update Liesa!

That food looked awesome!

Hi Tink!! I think the spooky factor went way up when I hyped them up some. She enjoyed the mystery of them some I think in the end! We still talk about our scary meal at the Witch's Little House.

Of course! It will be one of those random memories of the trip that you'll remember forever. :)

So, instead we fast walked, sort of like Rope Drop stampeding to Toy Story Mania. Well, not quite that fast, but quick enough to work up some body heat, and to work up an appetite worthy of the German food we were about to consume.

How many other places could you descibe the speed of your walk this way and have people understand. We understand. ::yes::

Those witches are a hoot. I am glad Anara came back from the bathroom Okay.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: guuud one! I needed that this morning! I miss the funny stuff every morning I used to get!

I knew you'd (of all my readers) especially appreciate my plate o' kraut!! Nothing like getting yerself all loaded up!

Of course! It will be one of those random memories of the trip that you'll remember forever. :)

Aren't those the best ones!!

Not many, Pat!! And since you've done that WITH me.... well, of course, you'd get it! :lmao:

They were very quaint, in a homespun sort of way. Never know what might be lurking in the bathroom of the Hexenhausel!!

I googled that pix too and came up with the same answer:rolleyes1:lmao:
As for the Kraut be grateful it was not DJay and Jordam eating it !!!!:scared1::rotfl2:
