I don't.... where did you hear this stat?

They probably spend 40% of their day watching people milk the system on the canceled ADR threads.... :rotfl2::rotfl2:

This was my personal record today.... Dr. Appt., bus pass purchase for Bek, bank to activate new card, to school to pay Bek's school bill, pick Zach up from school, TKD, and lunch on the run.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Yeah, SOME of us have more important things to do like stalk the ADR hogs. :rotfl2:

I know for one thing 99.9% of Torontonians spend their days stuck in rush hour!!! :rotfl2:

Hmmmm.... Torontonians. I like that! We'll get to do the rush hour thing tomorrow on our way out of town for weekend camping. I can't wait.

sadly, I think it's true. Between 2 & 6 I spend my time shuttling kids from one place to the next...right now I"m enjoying a slight reprieve.

I live in a small town where most things are with in 15 miles so I can only imagine how much longer it must take if you live in/near a big city.

Sux, don't it?

Actually, we live in a great neighborhood where nothing I really need is further than about 5 miles away. Even Bek's school is a 15 minues drive. That part I appreciate!

OK, question for all of you...

Is this normal- Do most Americans REALLY spend about 40% of their day IN the car??!!! If so, just shoot me now.
That's why I love living here. When DH and I lived in New York we lived 17 miles away from work but it took us 45 minutes to get there. Here we live about 10 miles from work and it takes us 12 to 15 min to get to work. Of course the 70 mph speed limit helps. :lmao:

The Daily Slog must be awful. My DH tried to take the bus or Max train whenever he could when we lived here, and it really worked well- esp. as we only had one car. We'll have to see what needs to happen once he gets a job. Guess it will depend on how far away that job ends up being. Regardless, unless he works in Washington State, there won't be any 70 MPH in his future. :upsidedow

Hi just checking in !!Another busy but good day !!I live within walking distance of work , but don't but it is great to know I could !! Judy has a 20 minute drive ( for me it would be 40 minutes ):rotfl2: Our street looks like Liessa old neighbor hood as it is in the slooooooooow process of being repaved :lmao:

Am getting so close to Disney I will be there in 14 days !!!!:woohoo::yay::woohoo:

Wow on that update! I am going to have to think of some new adjectives for this roller coaster! So glad you were able to get something to help Mike with his stomach issue and how wonderful your time with your hosts sounded.

My guess is Crystal Palace

Bekka - glad to see you here and am glad you are getting settled in! :thumbsup2

Maroo has been tweeting - she made it to WDW and decided to go to the MNSSHP tonight!

First, I LOVE the costume Maroo.

Hey Kathy!!! Man, I've missed you around here- hurry back for reals!

Yes, that was his mom. She pretty much gave him free reign of the aisle for the entire flight. That has its good and bad points- keeps the kid quiet, but isn't so convenient for the other passengers who'd like to keep booger fingers off their food.

:cloud9:Thanks, Leisa. You made my day. I'm all caught up now...I guess checkin once in awhile kept me from getting too far behind. I skimmed some of the chit chat I have to admit. But now I should be able to keep up with no problem.

14 DAYS! 14 DAYS!!! Until one VERY intertesting trip, indeed!

I really need to do MUCH better at making a commitment to NOT be in the car as much! It makes me crazy!

I wish it hadn't have been such a roller coaster, but truth is that is exactly HOW it happened. If there hadn't been drama, this would have been a pretty boring TR. :lmao:

Glad the links were helpful to bring you up to speed. We've all been known to <gasp> skim once in a while. I'm not worried!! :goodvibes Welcome back!

HEY! That is important!

LOL :rotfl2:

Sadly, true for alot of people, I think. I like Cherie, live in a small place, so I can group my errands and do them on one or two days. Funny though, yesterday I had about 5 errands, and I was gone for 3 hrs - I don't even have kids to pick up!

I spend 40% of my time reading TRs and looking for cheap flights!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the update! She did what every good DISer would do! Did she wear her costume?

Busy day!

HEY! That is important!

LOL :rotfl2:

I wish the day had included:

A spin in the Alpha Quadrant
A flight on Soarin'
A few hand crafted margs at The Cave
And some pyrotechniques to top it off.

That's how I would rather "busy" myself!

Of course, I could throw in some "important work" of monitoring the stacking of redundant and unecessary stacking of ADRs, too. :rotfl2:

I guess, I once this initial "set up" evens out, I will get better at planning my days and I will be less tired.

YOu'll know when that's happened because I will then be able to devote my usual 40% of my time to TRs and travel plans. :lmao:

Camille, I am sorry!! I hadn't realized that you were the first to guess the right answer!! :flower3:

Liesa, I am looking forward to letter D then!! Not only will it bring a new update but also a new game! Which reminds me: How are you going to go about the game we played with our answers to what was going to happen during your trip? Will you allocate points as you go along during your TR or will there be one big count at the end?

Did you see my guess as to your signature on Glenn's thread (or was it somewhere else???)

Many of my friends spend at least 40% of their day in their car. Joe takes me to work since it is on his way to work but in total, he spends probably 20% or more of his day in the car. :sad2:

I enjoyed your last update. Love the toilet poster too. :thumbsup2

One of the students from UT took it upon himself to come to the University of Texas with an AK47 and shot it at people several times before killing himself. My son's girlfriend lives in the building right across the street from where all this happened. I PRAISE GOD he didn't hit anyone or kill anyone-this in and of itself is a total miracle, I think we can all attest to that. I am sad he felt he needed to take these measures to solve what ever he had going on in his head, I can't imagine what his family is going through. All of this along with my son off to college this year (A&M) it just hit a little too close to home for my comfort, it also hit me all at once how really out of control I am to these things.

Oh my goodness!!!!!!!! I had to re-read your first few sentences because when you said he came in with an AK47 and shot around I immediately assumed there were deaths. PRAISE THE LORD that no one died! That is TRULY a miracle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How incredibly sad about that young man though. What a tragedy. How tortured in life he must have been to go to that extent. And his poor family and friends.

Many hugs to you in this difficult time. It's so hard to let go and out of your control. I don't look forward to those days!

I spend 0% of my day in a car. ;) I LOVE WALKING AND THE SUBWAY!!!! I don't miss that running around in the car here and there...ugh.

And just when you think you completed all your errands you realize you need one more thing at Target. :headache::headache::headache: Of course, that happens here too, but it's so much easier - anytime I go out I pass by the stores I need, so I can pick-it up easily anytime. Ahhhhh, I love it.

I'll get off my day dreaming now...!

Well, we are going camping this weekend and leaving about 3:00, so I am going to be off untl Monday again. Gotta enjoy nature before the dreaded rains hit again. I wanted to do an update last night, but we've been watching a WONDERFUL BBC series called Wives and Daughters. Maybe you've heard of it, or seen it.

Anyway, an update after the weekend is coming... with a new letter.

The Master Predictor will be scored AS WE GO ALONG. During the TR as you say. Should be fun!

No, I didn't see that yet. But I told him that you'd all have to play again and have that whole conversation again in a bit on THIS thread. LOL! So remember waht you said. ;)

Anyway, Bek's alarm didn't go off, so I'm off to spend the first 10%of my day in the car. :headache:

Have a great time camping (something I've not done since I was 11 and won't do again :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:). Don't you hate when those alarms "don't go off."

Safe travels.

Carpooling- LOVE that idea! Especiallly if it's on the way anyways. Does it hinder you though from getting errands done during your lunch hour? Does it end up adding MORE time to your torture in the car overall?

I would love to live in a place where everything I needed is truly within walking distance. Our community is just not set up so you can quickly run up to the store, or park, or fitness center. It's all so far!! My nearest mass transit station is about 3 miles away, and it's great for going to East Portland, it would take me 3 or 4 times as long to get there. I just dont have that kind of time!

She didn't say if she wore her costume or not. She tweeted this morning that she is at GKTW.

Maybe she'll get us a FB post...

WE will! I have a fair amount to do today yet to get ready. Bags of clothes, and the last minute food things to put in and making sure trash is out, dishes done, and of course spending some time in the car picking kids up. :rolleyes1

where are you camping? Heading for the coast? I'm very jealous! I feel the need to get out of town but it won't be happening any time soon.

I haven't heard of that series...what's it about...is it a period piece?

We're going to a great little Forest Service campground just ont he other side of Mt. Hood called Forest Creek Forest Camp. Pretty primitive with only a fire pit, pit toilets and a table. No hookups. BUT, the best thing of all is the creek that the kids LOVE to play in and around. It has salamanders to catch, and one time we actually found a piece of a REAL wagon's wheel from the Oregon Trail!! It was REALLY cool!!

The coast would have been nice, but Mike was already up on the mountain (since Tuesday) and we thought why not just meet him up there.

Wanna join us?? We' d LOVE to have you!! I really mean \it! Even if just for the day Saturday!!! PM me if you think you can make it!!

Wives and daughters is VERY much like Pride and Prejudice, and in fact was even produced by Sue Birtwistle who produced P&P. I would rank it as good as Sense and Sensibilities; not quite as good as P&P, but really well done nonetheless. WE waited for several weeks for it, as it had many holds on it at the library. It's a 4 episode series.

that is soooo tempting! But, I don't think I could pull if off...stupid
football.:headache: Mt. Hood is gorgeous..my uncle and aunt recently moved up there where she manages a resort hotel.

I'm going to add Wives and daughters to my netflix...it sounds like something I'd love!
