I was remembering myself, and I guess I didn't comment here. Leisa, it will get better. I remember being dazed and confused at Taco Bell - I couldn't figure out the menu - overwhelmed to the point of tears sometimes at stores, because there were too many choices, and driving on the wrong side of the road many times. Then, slowly it all made sense again! Praying for you.
I do know it will get better- it's like running a 5K, and that first 5-8 minutes being harder than the dickens. Somehow you find your stride and things get easier; your breathing evens out, your guts become all re-arranged so that it doesn't hurt AS much, and you begin to ignore the burning in your legs. We'll "find our stride" in living here again; it will just take time.
Yay! Bekka is here! So nice to hear from you, sweetie! I hope school is going well, with minimum "culture shock" for you. Thanks for checking in!
Leisa, once again, this leg of your journey wasn't without it's own brand of drama! I'm glad hubby got the meds working before you had to leave. As for the C, I thought maybe it was from
Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, but I looked up the pic, and I see I'm wrong so someone else will have to be right.
Okay, can't keep my eyes open
good night!
Drama will continue for days- right up until I get on my plane to Orlando. So keep your seatbelt fastened and your Cipro handy.
I"m certain D is going to be easier- and everyone who gets that one right will get a point!
New job is wonderful, still new, so I still have to learn things. But I have wonderful colleagues who make it really easy to fit in! One colleague is going to run the same 10k race as I will next Sunday and she invited me to come along to the celebratory meal she and her friends have planned for that evening.

Besides that, I have lived in Nuremberg before, so I still have quite a lot of friends her and it is great to be able to see them regularly again, as well as my parents who recently moved here. So all is well! I guess life is really keeping me busy in a very good way at the moment and that's one reason for not having so much time to spend on the DIS.
I"m SO glad your new job is going so well!! Kind and generous colleagues can really make a BIG difference!
GOOD luck on your race Sunday!! Someday that 10K will be mine!
I am looking forward to your photopass pictures!! Did you get any fun ones? I really loved some of the special ones Katharina and I got.
I got a few that turned out really, really well! But honestly, I didn't use PP that much, in fact, I think I only got about 30 pictures total. And none with any of the goofy poses like being surprised by a cartoon Stitch. But 2 in particular came out really well, of just being good pictures of me- a rare commodity!
I think sometimes it just needs some time to register things, could have happened to me, but not to Katharina. She spots everything immediately!!
I remember in high school I had taken a trip to San Francisco and did a little shopping at Sax 5th. I accidently left a BRAND NEW pair of pumps in the room and my mother was FUMING!!! (So was I, and sad too!) Ever since then, I have a paranoia complex about checking and re-checking- and then checking again.
I did some looking around, but could not come up with anything - I think I will do it like Rosie and let Marv get the points. It is a game where the first one gets all the points anyway, isn't it??
Next round (D) EVERYONE who gets it gets a point- I want to mix it up so that there's some rounds where speed counts, and others where research will pay off.
That's wonderful that you got to meet her! Even though I live here, I love it, when people tell me how much they enjoyed visting Nuremberg or Berlin!
She was a very kind and well-spoken lady. It was fun to let her talk and remember her homeland.
I haven't spent much time on the TR board but how happy I was to discover your trip report in progress!!! Oh my - I am sooo laughing - because I sooo relate!! I can't believe you tossed the Albeni - those always come in hospitality gift baskets -cheap sugar- lol. Not to mention I spent a good part of the past two weeks at the Kazakh Embassy getting visas for friends - the egg stamp - oh my belly hurts stop!

Oh and yes nearly forgot - the box of Ciproflaxin sits waiting in my drawer as I type for such unlovely emergencies. Hope your husband recovered quickly!
I'm totally glad you found me too! I was cleaning up my inbox the other day and ran across an old letter from you! I actually almost PMd you to invite you on over, but thought that might be presumptuous.
Yeah, Albeni's are right up there with 3 Muskateers for me- too sweet. My kids even say that those ones hurt their teeth. But they are dearly loved by most everyone else in Asia, arent' they??
OH NOT the Kazakh Embassy!! NOT the oval-shaped, magical stamp to somewhere!

Truly, looking back it's a comical story to add to our repertoire!!
AS you well know- EVERY traveler to Mid-Asia knows the secret biological weapon of Cipro! A must in every cabinet and ditty bag! Right up there with toilet paper and candy to hand out to kids. (Every day is trick or treat in Asia!)
He did- mostly.
