Tell me your thoughts about "The Secret"

But, I find myself doubting that I will get this new position. A little voice in my head keeps saying, "You're not going to get it anyway, don't get your hopes up."

You don't have to get THIS job. This may not even be the one for YOU. There are plenty out there.

Keep visualising everything you want in your right job. Since you will be getting your degree soon, it doesn't even have to be the right "forever" job, as your circumstances may change in 6 months. :cool1:

Make a list of the kind of people you want to work with. (Like the gals at work already.) Say it has to be as emotionally fulfilling as the Volunteer Coordinator/Educator job AND not as emotionally draining. You want the work to be gratifying, challenging, in your right, chosen field, making around $____ per week/month for about ___ amount of hours.

Make sure you know your bottom line of what you will NOT accept, deal breakers, (or how would the Universe/God know what NOT to send? And most importantly: What you want instead. You've alrready given examples of the kinds of work and people you want, becasue it was already given to you, in spurts at different times. :woohoo: You now, get to refine your dreams & wishes.

Visualize yourself saying when you get home from work, "I love my job so much because today I got to..." Really feel how happy you'd be working at a job that had all the things you want.

Make sure you do it in all three modalities: visualise it, hear what you'd be saying to others, what people would be saying to you at work, and feel how wonderful. It has to be in all three modalities, so it can go out to the Universe and be manifested back in all three modalities.

At the end your visualisations, always close with this affirmation:

This or something better now manifests for me,
for the highest good of ALL concerned.

When you close with this affirmation, and you say "this or something better," you are affirming you do not believe in scarcity. When you say, for the highest good of ALL concerned," you are saying, there is a bigger picture here and you might not know all that is involved, and you understand, this one thing you are looking at, may not be right for you, and may be better for someone else. There is no need to clutch onto this one, because you believe in a greater power in the Universe, and want to work with it/God, so that everyone is properly taken care of.

When God/the Universe hears you want to take care of others too, in your affirmation, you will be rewarded. God/the Universe wants to take care of YOU too. You are a beloved child of the Universe/God. You deserve better too. Would you really want to take a job (or item) from someone else, that wasn't meant for you? that could help someone more at this time.

It affirms that you do not believe in scarcity. You have faith.

IF, this job doesn't come to you, you know it's because it's not the right one for you - not because you didn't deserve it. ::yes::

Here are excerpts from Shakti Gawain's Creative Visualization. It gives an overview in the beginning and starting on page 22, gives some visualisation & affirmation techniques. :thumbsup2

Creative Visualization

Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it! :dance3: :yay:  :cheer2:

Here's a great technique for sending your visualization/affirmation out into the Universe after you've done the work I suggested 2 posts ago. (You want to have done the work of having the goal clearly in your mind before sending it off.) :goodvibes

This is from Creative Visualization by Shakti Gawain.

Pink Bubble Meditation Technique

• Sit or lie down comfortably, close your eyes and breathe deeply, slowly, and naturally. Gradually relax and feel this meditation taking you deeper and deeper.

• Imagine something that you would like to manifest. Imagine it as though it already happened.

• Picture it as clearly as possibly in your mind. Hear it, feel it, or sense it.
Now in your mind’s eye surround your fantasy with a pink bubble; put your goal inside the bubble. Pink is the color associated with the heart, and if this color vibrations surrounds whatever you visualize, it bring to you only that which is in perfect affinity with your being.

• Now let go of your bubble and imagine it floating off into the universe, still containing your vision. This symbolizes that you are emotionally "letting go” of it, turning it over to the higher power of the Universe to bring it to you.

Now it’s free to float around the universe, attracting and gathering energy for it’s manifestation.

You can do this process one time and let go of it completely, or you can do it regularly for a while. If you want to do it regularly, I recommend doing so every morning when you wake up, and again at night before going to sleep.

:goodvibes

Imzadi- THANK YOU. Thank you for reminding me that the whole of my future does not depend on THIS job. Thank you for reminding me that someone else might need this job. That helps me keep things in perspective. I haven't got a chance to read thebook excerpt, but I am going to try the pink bubble meditation before I leave for work this morning and tonight before I go to bed!!!

I am also going to work out on paper what I want in a new job, as well as what I won't accept. Great ideas!!

I really needed a boost, and I am SO glad this thread is here.

Imzadi- thank you again, this really is going to help and I already feel better.

I am a firm believer in the Secret. :)

I use it regularly for parking spaces, as weird as that sounds. Before I leave to my destination, I envision a CLOSE parking spot, a car backing out of it, and envision my car pulling into the spot.

Sure enough, it has happened EVERYTIME I have envisioned it.

Many other things have happened to make me a huge believer in it. I have a vision board and things have already started coming true!!

this is very interesting stuff....I am going to have to check into some of the books....
I love the idea of a vision board. DH and I do goal boards every new years.

Secret fan here. It has changed our life around for the better. It works!

I loooove this thread. Love it - love it - love it!!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I've been working on positive thinking since March... I've been a very negative person, so this is a challenge but I feel I am MUCH better and I really like that about myself!:thumbsup2

Are there any message boards any of you frequent dedicated to this line of thinking?

Just got A New Earth in the mail today. Decided to start with that one - my BFF also got it and we're going to do Oprah's book study. I also got a book on Tantra, which DH is super excited about! I already read the first part and I think I'm going to like it.

Lot's of self-analysis and growth going on around here!

Congratulations! The first point of power is in recognising and acknowledging who you are. :goodvibes
We can't change what we're will not acknowledge. :)

It reminds me of a powerful quote by author, Maya Angelou, who is also one of Oprah's mentors.

Forgiving Ourselves

"I don't know if I continue, even today, always liking myself. But what I learned to do many years ago was to forgive myself. It is very important for every human being to forgive herself or himself because if you live, you will make mistakes - it is inevitable. But once you do and you see the mistake, then you forgive yourself and say, 'Well, if I'd have known better I'd have done better,' that's all. So you say to people who you think you may have injured, 'I'm sorry,' and then you say to yourself, 'I'm sorry.' If we all hold on to the mistake, we can't see our own glory in the mirror because we have the mistake between our faces and the mirror; we can't see what we're capable of being. You can ask forgiveness of others, but in the end the real forgiveness is in one's own self. I think that young men and women are so caught by the way they see themselves. Now mind you. When a larger society sees them as unattractive, as threats, as too black or too white or too poor or too fat or too thin or too sexual or too asexual, that's rough. But you can overcome that. The real difficulty is to overcome how you think about yourself. If we don't have that we never grow, we never learn, and sure as hell we should never teach."
~ Maya Angelou

Add this in with Louise Hay's first of her "12 Commandments: on How to Love Yourself" and you've got something powerful going.

1. STOP ALL CRITICISM.
Criticism never changes a thing. Refuse to criticize yourself. Accept yourself exactly as you are. Everybody changes. When you criticize yourself, your changes are negative. When you approve of yourself, your changes are positive.

Louise says on one of her tapes, that if you only do Commandment #1 (above), the other 11 commandments pretty much happen by themselves.

I posted the full 12 Commandments on How to Love Yourself back on page 6: HERE :)

I also got a book on Tantra, which DH is super excited about! I already read the first part and I think I'm going to like it.

Hmm, we're going to need details & follow-up here. There can never be too much info. ;) :rotfl:

I do this too, for parking spaces & hailing a cab in NYC. I call them "simple Jedi mind tricks" :thumbsup2 as, once you get the hang of it, these are so easy to do. :car:

Guys, I need some help.

About 3 weeks ago, I sent in a resume for a new job. It's a position with the county health dept. for a "Peer Counselor," - I would be providing education and support to new/expectant parents about breastfeeding.

Right now I am a bank teller. I do not dislike my job. I really like the girls I work with (small branch, have been there 1 year). But, it isn't what I want to do. Not working is NOT an option, financially- we're getting back on our feet still from when I was jobless for a year AND pregnant!! (Got extremely sick during pregnancy, was on home health care). So, I have to work.

But, I find myself doubting that I will get this new position. A little voice in my head keeps saying, "You're not going to get it anyway, don't get your hopes up."

And even though I like my coworkers, and don't mind my job, this new position would be more gratifying, and more along the lines of something I would choose as a career (I am 2 credits away from my Bachelor's- long story, but before banking I worked as a Volunteer Coordinator/Educator for a sexual assault response team: LOVED it, but it was too far away, on call 24/7, and very emotionally draining).

So, thoughts? Help? Positive affirmations? Ideas? I'll take anything I can get. I would really love a change right now: it's sort of perfect timing. Thanks! :)

Thank you so much for sharing!! I am in nearly the same situation. I have a job that is fine, great even but not challenging or a place to grow. Sunday I heard about a job opening and have since sent my resume. At first it felt so right and does have all the "perfect" aspects but even though most of the time I can visualize myself in the position negative thoughts keep sneaking up on me.

AMAZING! This reminds me of the Trolly strap from "The Power of Intention"! I love the similarity and the difference!

I am so grateful to have found all of you delightful positive people!
Hey!! I am beginning to attract positive into my life!!
:wizard:

good morning! I had a rough night- lots of bad dreams (ya know the kind where you try to wake yourself up because they're so bad??) I don't really remember what they were about but I had an overwhelming urge to call my dh and speak with him- wouldn't ya know he didn't answer his cell?? So I sat on my bed, closed my eyes, breathed deeply and had a little conversation with myself. Truthfully, it was very relaxing and soothing. It's going to be a great day- I can tell!!
