Hey guys,

I just got back from helping my neighbor shave her head. Her hair was falling out all over the place from her chemo so she decided that it was time to shave it all off. You don't think it should be a big deal, but it was pretty emotional. Her DD3 came into the kitchen while we were in the middle of it and started crying while looking at her mom. It was awful. But, I think now that this is over, it will be easier. I think this was the hardest part for her and her husband. Her DH told her that he didn't want to be there for the actual shaving. So, he was working in the garage.

Now it's time to decide on some hats....

Big  for you and her and her family. You are a good neighbor for helping her with this. Is she going to get a wig? My bff had a couple she wore when going out of the house. She just wore a scarf any other time.

She did order a wig, but it hasn't come in yet. She's just not sure if she'll want to do it or not. Right now, she's got a few hats and is having a woman in town make her some more.

Amy - all that drama and it is only the second day :scared1:
Yep only the second day..:scared:
WOW it's the second day of school and they are already acting like the year is half over.

Sorry for your Drama.. BUT :rotfl2: It makes a good READ.
I have a small group of friends that I email with every day. They say that they need to rint off and save what I have written to them every day.Its never boring around here...
Amy~ My what drama you had for the 2nd day! I suggest setting clothes out the night before to help with some of it. I learn my lesson last year! (my Mr. Easy Going decided to be Mr. NOT Easy going!)
We do set out clothes the night before and after a "few words of encouragement" she went back and put on the clothes we had agreed on.
Hi,CE!! Glad your back.
I'm down a full 5 lbs.!

Better still, my Big Pants are loose! :cheer2:

And best of all, I feel strong and energetic and nothing hurts! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
 :worship: WTG V!!
I plan on hanging by the pool ALL day and reading my new book ... Breaking Dawn! :beach:
Sounds wonderful and that book is awesome!
That's what I ended up getting and they were about that price. I'm glad to hear that they help. My doctor also told me not to wear flip flops. :rotfl2:
Watch out for the flip flops. My SIL will wear them and pay for it for days.
OMG Amy what a lot of drama so early in the morning am I glad the girls have to wear school uniform :rotfl2:

I'm home :yay: No more sleepless nights :yay: No more smelly nappies (diapers) :yay: But I will miss them and it's definite Emma is moving to NYC, they're looking at the Rye area
School uniforms would be nice.:cloud9: :Glad your back!

Well dd looked at the info on Careerstart and she is very interested. Her only complaint was she would miss her cat. Not her mom who gave her life, taught her right from wrong, nurtured her in her times of need, loved her unconditionally for all these years, nope just the cat. It has been a nice and uneventful day and my Db is not having the birthday party until after I get back. I can now get my dn something wonderful from WDW for his first birthday.

:rotfl2: I found that funny.

Uh

 Stein Mart & Dillards have fabulous hats.

Watch out for the flip flops. My SIL will wear them and pay for it for days.

I know :headache: , but that's all I wear now that I live in FL. So far it's not too bad and I'm hoping it won't get worse.

Jodi and Kate and some others your TR's have been moved to the completed TR board :confused3
I guess if it lays dormant for too long they consider it OVAH!

This must have been incredibly difficult for you both...and that poor baby :sad1: How brave of your friend to just go ahead and shave it off.

Interesting morning around my neck of the woods. #2 son was running through the house last night and he hurt his foot. DH and I thought he sprained his ankle, but #2 said he heard a crack. We iced it and elevated it. He could walk on it okay, but he said it hurt. He woke up this morning and it was all swollen and bruised. Not a good sign...and NOT his ankle, but the side of his foot. You couldn't even touch it without him gasping. Off to the ER. He was so worried about not being able to walk in WDW...fortunately, it's not broken. The bone is bruised. BUT, he should be fine by the 19th :thumbsup2

Jen, I hope you and Jon made it through the night at home and that his fever is down.

V, :thumbsup2

Oh Man.. Work interferring with "Dis-ing"

Really these...these...people have alot of nerve disturbing my Dis time:rolleyes1

THIS IS TRUE... Janet ONLY HAS 40 Posts... Compared to Dawn's 65..

Thanks Katt:rolleyes:

I'm not too sure if thats upstate or out towards long island, i'm leaning towards upstate which to me is as good as cananda ! If its not in the 5 boroughs of NYC (manhattan, brooklyn, bronx, queens or staten island) then I am clueless!

I google mapped it. It is near Westchester....if that helps you. That's a pretty swanky neighborhood if I remember correctly.

Oh, no.

Jo, I just drove by Rye late the other night. It's not far from the city and looks like a decent suburban area, but of course I haven't lived or stayed there. ;)

Jodi-must have missed the multi-quote button, but that must have been hard. I'll throw my $.02 out there - my cousin has universal alopecia (no hair anywhere, eyebrows, lashes, etc.) and she hated the wigs - she thought they were too itchy. She wears really beautiful scarves everywhere, except for a truly formal occasion - she was a bridesmaid this winter and didn't want to stand out in the pictures, for example.

My friend here who has breast cancer bought herself a pink go-go wig- decided she might as well have fun with it. :upsidedow

At any rate, there are plenty of options - it just depends on how comfortable she would be not looking "normal."

Woody's filling went well. We're under a severe thunderstorm warning, so that's fun. I think we're taking my dad out for dinner in a little bit. We'll have to get up a lot earlier tomorrow morning than we did the last few days. :thumbsup2

Kids :rotfl2:

What does he/she do that they will be in NY?
It's my sisters job (BIL is a teacher) she is an HR Director for a company in London and their NY office is having trouble so she's going to the rescue, huge package $ wise too!

I guess if it lays dormant for too long they consider it OVAH!
I guess :confused3

Phew :rotfl2:

:thumbsup2 So how far is it for you to drive, you know like when I visit her??? :goodvibes

Okay, so after talking with my DH this morning, I guess the situation is a bit different. He refuses to tell his mom about his "procedure". So, she doesn't know that his dad was planning on keeping the girls???

I'm not quite sure how they were going to get around telling her when the time came though. I mean, what explanation was FIL going to give when he told her that they had to spend the night at our house?? I don't get it.

So, she made these plans without even knowing about our plans. I can sorta understand why DH doesn't want to tell her. She's a major worrywart and will keep harping on how he feels for weeks upon end. But it sorta makes us change our plans.

So, this is now the idea my DH came up with. Instead of having my mom drive down for such a small period of time, he says he's just going to drive over to the surgery center himself that morning. Then, after DD7 gets on the bus, I can have a friend drive me and DD4 over. It's actually very close to our house, so that wouldn't be a problem. But, then he'll be by himself while waiting before the procedure, which I don't feel good about....

I don't know... I'm going to wait until I talk to my mom. See what she says. Maybe she'll insist on coming down....
Hmm...........well, keep the guilt story anyway just in case, but sounds like grandma would have stayed if she knew the story (and Daran's mom is like that---she worries about his dental visits...)

Advice: you need a backup plan for kids..cause whenever you REALLY can't go to school and pick them up, something WILL happen!

Ab asked me if she could take Max to college with her (in 3 years mind you.... ). I said NO!
The cat..........maybe! A fence jumping goat---probably!

ok a orthodontist vent moment.......CE, I almost called you at 1, but you're not in my cell phone. BA was at cheer camp....10-8:30............at 11:30, she calls me (I have been at work for 30 minutes), her dang Herbst appliance fell out....again.............I drive 40 minutes to see her whilst calling her ortho..........they don't have doctors in today...........so I say I'll bring her in tomorrow.........and then I leave her there............just now, they said, the dentists are both at a meeting tomorrow and suggest she wait till Wed when the decide to work again.
I respond "So Dr. Woods' dental advice is for my 11 yo child to not eat for the next 6 days???"
....so they are getting an assistant to come in tomorrow am and look at it.........she can't fix it cause she's not a dentist.  Sometimes I hate small towns--only practice here.

Wait, TE...cheer camp is ten and a half hours????????

i meant his ankle........haven't heard from Jen.:confused3

Yes, this is "fun day" for her youth squad---they are working on their competition routine but also making posters, painting water bottles, playing games, etc............her youth squad is 13 girls aged 4-11 so its a cute group. :goodvibes
She didn't want to leave for braces repair anyway.

His ankle is better...amazing what ice will do. And he thought is was totally cool to be able to see all his bones on the x-ray, so something good came out of his day.

That's a really long day, no matter how much fun it's supposed to be. I hope she has a great time and can get her braces fixed soon. I really don't like orthodontists  It's a generalization, I know, but I've only met one I like.

I know everyone has problems with their in-laws but DH's dad passed away 9 years ago and his mom 3. He misses them so badly that I'd put up with some of their carp if they were still around.
The good ole saying: You don't know what you've got, until it's gone. I hear the pain.

I've started going back to the gym but also have recently gotten planter fasciitis. My shoe really hurt my foot so the doctor told me to get shoes with support and support socks. Doesn't that make me sound old! :headache:
I have that in my left heal! It is such a pain! Did he give you exercises to do too? Before I get up, I need to flex my foot upward and down and around, pulling the muscles and nerves from their frozen state. I also need to make sure to wear shoes with arch support around the house at all times. I bout myself a pair of lime green FIT FLOPS and they have been awesome! I have a physical Therapist neighbor/friends who said if I don't get some relief by fall we can do some kind of shots...:scared: Is it in just one of your feet?

Jo and CE ~ Are you both welcomed to piles of laundry and housework?

I'm down a full 5 lbs.! :woohoo: :yay:

Better still, my Big Pants are loose! :cheer2:
Yipee!

Hey guys,

I just got back from helping my neighbor shave her head.
What a great friend you are! I am sure she truly appreciated your help.

TE:  for ortho troubles. Arghhh!

CE and JO: Glad you're home! Oh, and Rye is gorgeous. Nice area. My BIL lived there a few years ago. I think it's only about 5 hours to MA from there, so CE's probably just a bit more than that! :thumbsup2

Janet: Sorry you have to work! ;)

Hi everyone else!

---------
I made turkey meatballs for dinner. Gotta go make the pasta in a minute. We're about to get more storms here! I'm so tired of the warnings. Skeery!
Hopefully Jen and Jon are doing ok today. Haven't heard from her today. :confused3

I think me and the kiddos will watch a movie tonight. I have Jungle Book 2 taped from last night. We watched Troy instead! (it's censored)

MEL:banana:

Good question
Well today is my first day of vacation! I don't go back to Barbieville until Sept. 2! :woohoo:

Wait, I thought you were quitting, ugh, I have no clue what's going on around here:sad2:
