Hi gang!! Been a crazy week and it's getting late so I'm just here for a bit.
So Michael got a NEW cast on Tuesday. He went for his 1 week follow up x-rays, etc. and we're already on our 2nd cast

. Monday at daycare he was in the sandbox

(that I told him to stay out of) catching bugs

and when he let a handful of sand go, the bug that he caught was no where to be found.
Guess where it was hiding...
Yup...in his cast. You'd have thought he had ants in his pants...err...cast...the way he was squirming around. The doc came in, Michael told him about the bug and was saying I know it's in there, I can feel his shell

...so immediately they got the saw and cut the cast off...the one I never got a picture of him in...
So now he has a new cast - still up to the armpit, but it glows in the dark. Kind of cool I guess.
OH - guess who I got a call from today? The head of the Emergency Department. One of the hospital employees I deal with on the jobsite went to the Vice President of the hospital and told him about our ER visit and the VP went to the ED Director gave her my number and told her to call me. She was mortified at the things I was telling her and couldn't apologize enough.
I told her that I appreciated her apology but the reason for my complaint is more to prevent this from happening to other people. I volunteered at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for nearly 5 years - on the hospital board, the Family Advisory Board, the Children's Hospital Parent Council, The VON Network...I said I was well versed in patient rights and family centered care and that I was lucky to have known people like (big shout out

) Rachel that told me about putting ice on Michael's arm. I reminded her of the demographic of our area and asked her what would be the outcome if it had been someone else's little boy who'd been discharged for the weekend with no splint, no sling, no directions to ice the arm and what if that same little boy had gotten an infection from the wood chips not being cleaned out before they wrapped him up? I told her that the Orthopeadic (sp?) surgeon had already noticed a difference in Michael's xrays from Friday to Monday, so what if it had been another patient who didn't have the advantage of the advice we did and whose parents didn't know that they could speak up?
Well, she was going to be speaking with every single staff member that had contact with Michael (and us) that day, starting with the idiot who was going to send him home and the one who got pissed when I asked her to clean the arm before she wrapped it - they were on duty today.

Score one for the little people! Ok, off my soap box.
And speaking of drama...I just finished Twilight. OMG - I couldn't put it down!! I don't know why but I just had to keep reading...
Now, sadly, I have nothing to read at the beach tomorrow though

. I'll have to order the others. So thank you all for recommending it. And it's all your fault that my haircut Tuesday night came out wayyy too short!

I had the whole salon talking about this book and the guy that cuts my hair (Jerome) and I got on to the subject of vampires. Well, he got all worked up and excited talking about how sexy vampires are and Barnabus was his first crush, blah blah blah...before I knew it - my hair was GONE

Back to square one again in my quest to grow my hair out...
I'm not too sure if thats upstate or out towards long island, i'm leaning towards upstate which to me is as good as cananda ! If its not in the 5 boroughs of NYC (manhattan, brooklyn, bronx, queens or staten island) then I am clueless!
I used to go to Rye a lot as a kid - Playland baby!! No body mentioned Playland that I saw - it's an amusement park and a beach all in one. Had a ton of good memories there...Rye's nice. Or - it used to be - it's been years since I've been there, but it's not too far outside the city that I recall.
This must have been incredibly difficult for you both...and that poor baby. How brave of your friend to just go ahead and shave it off.
My sentiments exactly Kate - Jodi you're a great friend.
Interesting morning around my neck of the woods. #2 son was running through the house last night and he hurt his foot. DH and I thought he sprained his ankle, but #2 said he heard a crack.

We iced it and elevated it. He could walk on it okay, but he said it hurt. He woke up this morning and it was all swollen and bruised. Not a good sign...and NOT his ankle, but the side of his foot. You couldn't even touch it without him gasping. Off to the ER. He was so worried about not being able to walk in WDW...fortunately, it's not broken. The bone is bruised. BUT, he should be fine by the 19th
PHEW - for a minute there I was like, "NO - NOT YOU TOO!!"
Jen, I hope you and Jon made it through the night at home and that his fever is down.
I must've missed this - Jen hope you guys are ok!
Hush now. I've seen your picture. And if you can hide behind an 11 year old girl while at the pool, you're not big at all.

Thank you - I tried telling her that last year!
V - Way to go on the 5 lbs!! 2 thumbs up! I was down 2.6 last night at WW. Sure - I get ready to quit and NOW I start losing. Although Tony said (and he's probably right), "You'll only be up 2 lbs next week".
My treadmill arrived on Tuesday - Tony's going to put it together on Saturday WOOOO HOOOOO
Well Fockers...I'm beat - going to bed. Have a great Friday everyone!!
