Sorry Gaston, They are MUCH More Interesting Than You!*6/8* NEW Trip Report Link p154

Love the early morning MK fun. Claire loves barnstormer. I wish it was a longer ride though.
I have no desire to get near the soak area. Kids looked totally drenched there when we were there too.
I loved Via Napoli. We had lunch too and it as so delicious. A new must do for us.

The new meet and greet with Minnie and Daisy looks ADORABLE. Oh my goodness. Yall really lucked out with no waits that morning! :thumbsup2

It was so adorable. I loved it and I kept blinking my eyes thinking - how can we possibly have the whole pass to ourselves? So lucky! :thumbsup2

Lunch looks yummy! Via Napoli is fantastic.

I really, really enjoyed that pizza - so good. I have been wishing I could have another ever since I posted the picture! :rotfl:

Great update! :thumbsup2 Looks like y'all were really getting a lot done this day.

This was one of our longest days. We actually just stayed in Epcot for the rest of the day - one of us much longer than they other - but we'll get to that soon enough.

I love the new queue for the Barnstormer. I think it's so cute! And the characters are so cute in their circus outfits. I was so excited to see them on our trip. They really have some yummy treats in the Big Top Souvenirs tent!

The Barnstormer queue was really cute. The characters were awesome and the treats in the Big Top tent were far too tempting!

YUM....lunch at Via Napoli!

I think that may have been my favorite lunch of the trip because we actually did a lot of lunch eating at the kiosks and they don't count!

I really like all the circus theming with the water play area and the Great Goofini.

It was really cute back there. We really enjoyed getting to see it with minimal crowds.

LOVE the pictures of you and Cynthia with Minnie and Daisy! They are so cute in their new costumes!

Their costumes were adorable and it was such a cute meet and great area. Smart planning!

Sounds like a lovely lunch! And those Mickey wine stoppers may have to go on my wish list. ::yes::

Lunch was super yummy. I could eat that pizza every day of the week. So good.

I love those wine stoppers. I have the silver one and a different mickey one that I bought in June (which I never posted a picture of)

The splash area in New Fantasyland does look like it will DRENCH you!!! But I love all of the bright fun colors in that area!

It was such a cute area. Little kids must go CRAZY back there. I can only imagine what fun they have.

Love the various photobucket edits of Epcot! :goodvibes

I think I may have gone a little overboard, but the sky in all my pictures was so grey and I couldn't edit it blue. So I used photobucket! ;)

Your lunch at VN looks really good!

So good. I loved that pizza. I think I may have to stop there in June. Seeing those pictures is too darn tempting.

OK - More replies tomorrow. sorry I am slacking a bit tonight!

Clean bathroom, huh? That won't last long.. I promise. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Great update, MaryEllen. LOVE the photopass pictures of you and Cynthia in the big tent! Very cute...especially with Minnie.

I have to say I miss Body Wars and that area; I wish they would do something with it.

Skinnygirl wine? Seriously? What will they come up with next?

Your lunch looks very yummy.

I haven't tried the wine, but I love the SkinnyGirl Margarita! It is sweetened with organic agave and doesn't taste so sweet and fake. Your body tends to use the natural sweeteners differently, so as not to promote as much belly fat when you stay away from the processed sugars and flours. Okay, now I'm laughing at myself - obviously the drink was processed to get it into the bottles! :lmao:

Loved the update! Really fun pics - of course you know what they say about the DISmeets - no photo = it didn't happen! :goodvibes

Love all the details photos, esp of the carved pumkins, i've never noticed yet i've been 3 times when they've been there.

I've never been on Dumbo either, one for the future when i've got small people with me no doubt.

Great updates Mary Ellen and Cynthia!

I appreciate all of the pictures of the circus area. I fear that it will be a long while before I spend any time there. You know, I never stepped foot in Mickeystoontown and I know that none of my guys will be interested in checking out the Fantasyland expansion.

I haven't been on Barnstormer or the Great Goofini, but I have heard that it compares to Flight of the Hippogriff in Harrypotterland. One of the favorite things I have read is that the (FoTH) coaster was so short the person writing the trip report tried to hold her breath for the entire ride (she didn't make it). Do you think the breath-holding challenge would work on the GG?

I agree with you about the lighting in the meet & greet area. HORRID!

The treats in the dump shop looked amazing though!

I was worried when you said you were leaving at 10:30 and had a reservation in EPCOT in an hour. Sounds like you didn't do too bad making it, just a smidge late. I love the MK to EPCOT mono!

Everything at Via looked awesome! Every time I see a review it makes me want to check it out.

Cynthia, you had me wondering if Disney figured out a way to adjust the lighting so that only their cameras took decent pictures, forcing you to buy the photopass picture....but it looks like your camera adjusted for the later pictures.

It'd be neat if they'd put some of those more obscure characters in the meet 'n greet: Horace Horsecollar, Clara Cluck, Hyacinth Hippo, Lambert Lion, and of course Strongman Pete! That I'd like to see!

I can't wait for that mine train. :hyper:

Those apples are delicious. You must try one but they are definitely meant for sharing.

I love candy apples, especially when the apple is good quality and nice and crunchy. Yummmmmmmmmmmmm!

I found the meet and greet to always have low crowds when we were there at thanksgiving. Sort of strange. It is a neat meet and greet.

Really? That is sort of strange. Do you think people just don't know its there? I hope the crowds stay low for June then. I'd love to get a picture with all my nephews in there.

Your nephews will love the great goofini. Jeremy could ride that thing all day.

It should be one ride that all of them can enjoy together. Right now there are a lot of rides most of them won't do. Anything that's even close to a thrill ride the younger two won't ride. Makes not splitting up almost impossible.

I have never been to food and wine. It is on our bucket list. Looking forward to hearing about your seminars.

F&W is so amazing. Way better than I thought it would be. I can't wait to go again next year. The seminars were both really fun.

I love the pictures with Minnie and Daisy. We were disappointed that area wasn't open when we were there.

You couldn't have missed it by very much. That's too bad. We really did enjoy visiting and it was nice that we literally had the whole place to ourselves. Very VIPish.

IYour VN lunch looks delicious! Looking forward to going back there in May :)

I really loved that pizza and I might have to do a lunch ADR there in June. If not June, definitely next October.

I love the view you have on Barnstormer, it's pretty neat being able to see Space Mountain in one direction and Fantasyland in the other. And you definitely have to take your nephews on it! ::yes::

I never thought about that - but it really is. Goofini has a great vantage point and the view up there is so fun. I will definitely try to get on the nephews on it - right after I trap my Space Mountain FP. :thumbsup2

ISounds like you two had a bit of a time crunch issue. Hope once the festival seminar began you were able slow down a bit and relax.

We totally relaxed the rest of the day. We went into the Disney time warp where the minutes just start to fly by and you have no concept of what time it is. I love that.

IThe pizzas at Via Napoli are so good and splitting one is more than enough food for 2 people! Seeing your photos of the place makes me wish I were dining there right now. :goodvibes

It really is the perfect pizza for two people. I know Denny would love that pizza and ever since I posted that picture I have been wanting another one. :rolleyes1

I need to go to the new Fantasyland.

You definitely do! Do you have any upcoming trips planned?

Via Napoli. Yummy food and sights :rotfl:

That pizza was so darn good. I know I keep saying that - but it really was. Plus, Via is such a pretty restaurant. I love it in there. So bright and cheery!

It cracks me up how you write one thing (like "I didn't take any pictures in Via Napoli"), find out that your pictures disprove it ("Oh, I guess I did take more pictures. And my food pictures, of course."), but you just forge ahead! :rotfl2:

Haha! :rotfl2: When I say I didn't take any pictures I mean the usual twenty per stop. Two restaurant pictures and two food pictures doesn't really count, does it. :rolleyes1 (Actually - I really didn't think I took any with my real camera - that finding two sort of surprised me).

Interesting meet and greet area -- I'm not sure about Daisy as a fortune teller. :confused3

It was a really cool area. I kind of thought the fortune teller thing was cute. I wonder how Daisy felt about it. I'll have to ask her next time.

I'd sure like to try some pizza from Via Napoli someday.

That pizza was SO good! Yum!

Cute area, but from what I hear you can really get soaked here. So bring extra clothes if you decide to check it out. That goes for you adults, too!
Really! I mean, the splash pad areas are a fun idea for the kids, but this thing is ridiculous. It is a well themed play area, but I don't think it would be possible to get any wetter if you jumped in a pool with your clothes on. :lmao:

Everything looked really yummy, but I was more interested in healthy food in the form of lunch, although those candy apples did catch my eye.
Um... healthy... apple a day... come on now. :rolleyes1

At this point it was about 10:30 and we needed to hightail it out of the MK for our 11:30 lunch date at Via in Epcot. So we caught the train!
Oh... Via, as in Via Napoli??? Yeah, forget about those stupid candy apples. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

I remember the first time I rode the monorail from Epcot to the transportation center and back again. I thought it was SO awesome!
One of my favorite Disney rides! :rotfl:

Then I took pictures of all the wine bottles. I have a fixation with pretty bottles that contain alcohol. I am sure that is a question on a "Are you an alcoholic?" questionnaire somewhere.
Is that before or after the question that asks about how many bottles of rum are in your hotel room? :confused3

Actually, after Dumbo I am fairly sure we took a bio break, hence the Casey Jr splash area pics as you have to basically walk through or around it to get to the restroom
Um... definitely around.

There was a merchandise kiosk there that sold beach towels. Smart!
Smart indeed. Certainly no coincidence. :rotfl:

In addition to all the treats in the bakery case, the dump shop also had these, I am sure I’ll get hit up for a Goofy Glacier on our next family trip
They taste great on a warm afternoon. :thumbsup2

And took a really bad shot of my slice of the yummy pizza
I'm just impressed you captured a picture of it. Mine never survives long enough.

That’s an ice tea in case anyone is wondering. Our plan for after the seminar called for checking out Food and Wine Kiosks so we didn't want to get started too early.
Hey, we're not here to judge. I'm just disappointed that there isn't a good wine pairing suggestion for the meal you had... :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

I really love the new Storybook Circus area! I love the Minnie/Daisy meet and greet area, it's adorable, and I love the outfits they are wearing! :thumbsup2

Your Epcot pics are awesome, I love all the photobucket edits! :cool1:

I really have to go to the F&W festival center someday, it looks like it has cool stuff in there! We never, ever go in! I think we're always in too much of a hurry to get right to the booths! :rotfl:

Yum, Via Napoli, I love that place, everything is always so yummy!

Great addition to MaryEllen's update. I really wish I had known those Meet and Greets were there...we totally missed them.

Your lunch looks yummy.

Sorry you forgot to get a picture of your DIS meet.

Thanks Kathy! Another reason to go back and get more pictures on the next trip! Lunch was very very yummy, it is a must do for next Dec. We did at least get a pic with John and Melissa at the larger meet so they are not totally MIA, just not at our lovely lunch for four.

Love the early morning MK fun. Claire loves barnstormer. I wish it was a longer ride though.
I have no desire to get near the soak area. Kids looked totally drenched there when we were there too.
I loved Via Napoli. We had lunch too and it as so delicious. A new must do for us.

Totally drenched, a bit surprised they made it quite as wet as they did. Honestly I think you should get 2 loops on Barnstormer, that would make it about right. Via :thumbsup2

:lmao:

Hook, line and sinker! :rotfl:

Loved the update! Really fun pics - of course you know what they say about the DISmeets - no photo = it didn't happen! :goodvibes

Good thing we met them one other time and do have proof. Or at least have proof that Melissa was there, I think John sat out the group photo.

Love all the details photos, esp of the carved pumkins, i've never noticed yet i've been 3 times when they've been there.

I've never been on Dumbo either, one for the future when i've got small people with me no doubt.

I loved those pumpkins. I seriously could have gone around and taken a picture of each one. I probably did over the course of the trip.

Hmmn, are you trying to tell us something Claire?

First come House, then comes ???

Great updates Mary Ellen and Cynthia!

I appreciate all of the pictures of the circus area. I fear that it will be a long while before I spend any time there. You know, I never stepped foot in Mickeystoontown and I know that none of my guys will be interested in checking out the Fantasyland expansion.

I can probably drag mine into Storybook Circus once and I know they want to see Little mermaid and BOG though it may not happen in Dec, not sure if their cousins are as interested and certainly the menu at BOG won't work for a couple of them which makes me sad since it might mean I don't get to go. You might try to get the boys at least into Gaston's. Really great theming and fun food items, I think it's a great QS option.

They are very comparable rides at every level. I couldn't hold my breath long enough on either though. Of the 2, I'd take Barnstormer I think.

Especially given that we took the train, and went by the festival center, we did well. It was the only time rushed all day, it slows WAAAAYYYY down from here.

In a good way.

Cynthia, you had me wondering if Disney figured out a way to adjust the lighting so that only their cameras took decent pictures, forcing you to buy the photopass picture....but it looks like your camera adjusted for the later pictures.

:rotfl: I was a bit shocked at how bad the PP pics were, wasn't my camera after all.

It'd be neat if they'd put some of those more obscure characters in the meet 'n greet: Horace Horsecollar, Clara Cluck, Hyacinth Hippo, Lambert Lion, and of course Strongman Pete! That I'd like to see!

I can't wait for that mine train. :hyper:

Wouldn't that be the coolest with those obscure characters? I would love it! How about some kind of animatronic show, ala country bear jamboree with them, in a circus setting? I could get into that too. I'm excited for the mine train as well. I know it won't be a thrill ride but I hope it's top notch on the theming, the rest of new FL certainly is.

Really! I mean, the splash pad areas are a fun idea for the kids, but this thing is ridiculous. It is a well themed play area, but I don't think it would be possible to get any wetter if you jumped in a pool with your clothes on. :lmao:

Yep, that's exactly it. So for those who bring their kids to the parks in swimsuits, they will be set! LOL! Actually when the boys were 4/5 we would have them just wear swimsuits and a T. Boys board shorts are a wonderful thing, girls just don't have it as easy.

Is that before or after the question that asks about how many bottles of rum are in your hotel room? :confused3

:rotfl:

Hey, we're not here to judge. I'm just disappointed that there isn't a good wine pairing suggestion for the meal you had... :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

patience, patience

I really love the new Storybook Circus area! I love the Minnie/Daisy meet and greet area, it's adorable, and I love the outfits they are wearing! :thumbsup2

They did a great job with the area, now if they just fix the lighting, all will be well!

There was some neat stuff in there. It's all a bit hidden and spread out and so I'm glad we were in there more than once to see what was there, though even then I know I missed things. I will say, other than all the wine for sale, most if not all of the merchandise in there was available at other locations, either the F&W merch kiosks or Mousegears or the Port of Entry store. Much more at Port of Entry and the Kiosks then mousegears though.

I may try Via Napoli, iit looks pretty good.

Looks like I may go back to WDW this Sept! I got two pins in my inbox today:cool1: One was for free dining, the other was for a 35% room discount!:thumbsup2 The free dining was until March, but the discount is good until the end of Sept! Now I have some decsions to make.

Hi ladies!

I just read your report thus far all in one go...loving it, as always.

I'm so sorry, though, to hear about Tracy. Mary Ellen, that really was a beautiful tribute.

I've never been on Barnstormer/Goofini before, either...never seemed worth waiting in line, but based on your pics, it does look pretty darn cute...I might have to give it a try next time. I did get the chance to see the Storybook Circus area in August, and I loved the theming, but considering it was very hot and I was very pregnant, I didn't explore much! (Though it still wasn't quite hot enough for me to brave the soak-your-pants-off area -- who in their right mind would want to walk around that wet?(

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

Love the new Circus theme... Look how pretty those colors look in your photos...:thumbsup2

Goofini has a cute theme... but it's very short... they should send you around twice...

I love those new costumes on the characters... especially Minnie... too cute...

& that snack counter has that sweet sugary smell coming off of it... adds to the circusy atmosphere...

Via Napoli is really good... pretty atmosphere..., good food... just good stuff...

Skinny Girl Wine... :scratchin hmm not so sure about that... Do they water it down? An avg 4 oz pour of wine is about 90 calories... That's really not so bad...:confused3

Mary Ellen... I lost a bit of coffee over your "talking pictures of pretty bottles containing alcohol..." so what does it mean if I enjoy looking at the pictures of pretty bottles containing alcohol?...

Beautiful tribute to Tracy. Great job, Mary Ellen.

Thanks so much for the compliment and for taking the time to watch! I really appreciate it!

It's not a Disney attraction unless you get sprayed with water somehow.

You got that right! Poncho alert! Oh - wait - you don't do ponchos! :rotfl:

Front row...nice!

Considering it was us and two other people waiting for the ride, it is was pretty easy to get front row. But if we had to wrestle for it, we would have. :rotfl:

Yeah, I never understood why that track is so short.:confused3

They have the exact same ride at Dutch Wonderland (well, the same style). I guess they make it short they don't scare the crap out of little kids. :rotfl:

I love riding that loop at night. Even when I don't have park tickets, it feels like an attraction. :thumbsup2

It really does. There is something very cool about circling through Epcot!

You'd think they would have big plans for this area. Seems like a waste of a prime location.

It is a great location, but I guess they don't mind using it just for festival centers. Oh well - it would be fun if there was some cool attraction in there.

Pick one up for Julie next time, ok? Thanks. :thumbsup2

::yes::

OKie Dokey!

Also, watch out for blurry vision.

YEs - alcohol should come with that warning! ::yes::

Of course it tastes like crap. That's how you stay skinny. :rotfl2:

Exactly. I mean what do you do to wine to make it skinny other than dilute it. No thanks.

Yeah - maybe I need to get my blood pressure checked. :rotfl:

Via Napoli is great. I want to get back there again.

I really enjoyed my lunch there. So yummy. Need to take Denny there for sure.

I had the caprese salad to start

IMG_0984.jpg

Wow - this looks SO good right now. You also got great pictures of the trains. I forgot about the whole ride thing, but I remembered how ticked you were AND I remember those days so well. Well, not ticked, but you know - annoyed that a base had been left uncovered. I get that.

I still can’t believe we didn't get a picture of the 4 of us, totally lame. It was, again, a really yummy lunch and so much fun to see and catch up with Melissa and John. This is the 2nd time I've been to Via and I've loved it every time. While it’s been for lunch so far, I am fairly sure this will be a dinner reservation on our next family trip, it is definitely becoming a must do for me!

I wanted a picture and thought about asking, but after the girl's trip when I felt like I annoyed the hell out of everyone with my camera, I decided not to ask. I was hoping someone else would bring it up!

Once again great pics ladies! I LOVED all the pictures of the treats!:thumbsup2

Looking at the pictures now I realize those treats really did look good! At the time, with no real breakfast, they didn't. I guess that's actually a good thing. :rotfl2:

My kids LOVED Goofy's barnstormer - they went on it about 10 times during our trip (ask MaryAz, her kids did it with them at MNSSHP).

That's great! I bet all four girls had a blast riding that. I would have enjoyed riding with them as well, although maybe not ten times. :rotfl:

I like the displays too - First Aid, Second Aid!
And the line DOES get that long that you need those shade/umbrella thingies. We had to stand under them one day in October.

Yeah - that line was REALLY long in June. I bet those shade things do nothing in the summer heat. But they are cute!

When we went into the tent we had only a short wait for Goofy and Donald, but it was too long to wait for Minnie and Daisy, so we skipped them.

I don't blame you. I would definitely go to whoever had the shortest line. Goofy and Donald actually had people in their line when we visited.

Your Via Napoli meal looks so good!! I have to eat there next time for sure! Too bad no group pictures! I've done that before too.

That meal was really enjoyable. That's like a perfect lunch spot. Can't wait to eat there again.

ETA: I forgot - I've seen and tasted a Skinny Girl wine before and someone else had a SG mix for something - don't waste your money.

I ordered some type of SG cocktail and I finished it in about 3 sips. That was the end of that bright idea. It tasted good, but I guess I need a much larger drink. ::yes::

RE: Wilderness Lodge at 7 months - would it be impossible to get Christmas/NY time at 7 months?

VWL is the smallest DVC resort ( a little smaller than BC), but I see no harm in trying for it. Pick a backup resort that you want to stay at and waitlist there. I have a feeling its like BC and BWV for F&W. People make the reservation just incase, but end up canceling. Go for it.

Great updates! Too bad the lighting at the Meet and Greet was bad, Minnie and Daisy look cute in their circus costumes! I love the Barnstormer, it is such a cute roller coaster, the new theming looks fun too.

Aren't they adorable? I do hope they increase the back light a little in there. I would love to get some pictures of my nephews in June. The coaster was really cute. Very basic design with a great theme!

Awesome lunch at Via Napoli, I really want to try it there next time.

You should - that pizza was amazing. I really enjoyed our lunch there. Perfect!

Caprese salad is one of my favorites! It looks delicious :)

OMG - that picture - WOW - that looks so good right now (of course I am already hungry for lunch) :rotfl:

Please forgive me for taking so long with replies. I have a lot going on right now. I am still trying to finish that stupid online driving class and then I have a soccer video to finish by next weekend that is taking FOR - EVER! It's time for the Woodstock show rehearsals again - this year I'm Joan Baez and Janis Joplin (not). And I have to make shadow boxes for the senior soccer players.

I vow to respond to every post - It's just taking a little longer than usual.

I have now read this update three times and keep meaning to comment and something always happens. Customer walks in, dogs need out, etc. Just something. So here we go, going to comment today!
I loved the Barnstormer! I had never been on it before. It's cute, the theming is really great.
I watched that water play area from a distance. Maybe on a scorching hot day, early enough that I could dry easily...
Your character pics are adorable!
Ironically (since I don't drink any) I love alcohol bottles, the make for great pictures. :rotfl:
Aaaaand another post about food. All you Disers are posting about food and I'm reading them all today and here stuck at work and I'm getting very hungry!
*Wendy digs in her purse for some chocolate or something to satiate her drooling*

Great update! We love VN ... it's very close to real Italian food. :thumbsup2

I remember that picture of the REAL Italian pizza that you posted and it looked pretty similar, so good to know Via has your endorsement.

I love all the pictures of the new areas. There was only a small part open we we went and I am so looking forward to explore it all. We are under 40 days now and I cannot wait! ;)

Wow - under 40 days - that is so awesome. You must be very excited!!!!!! :cool1:

Yay for getting to ride the "new" Goofini! Mary Ellen, I kinda like the old name too but I can see why they felt the need to change it up.

Yeah - Goofini goes with the whole circus vibe, where barnstomer just sounds like you're on a farm. :scratchin

I enjoyed looking at all of the water play area pictures. All of that was still under construction when we were there in May. You can totally tell that you'd get soaked if you attempted to walk through that area.

It was a really cool area and is hot as it is in June you might want to get soaked. I might too! I'm sure you'll enjoy visiting the area on your next trip!

Yummy looking lunch you two had a Via Napoli. Our dinner there was fantastic. So much so that we are going back in May.

I don't blame you at all for going back. I really love the food and the atmosphere there. It was really a fun meal and I can't wait to go back.

Great updates ladies. I might have to add this restaurant to the list.

You really should. It's pretty darn yummy. I also think its a good deal if you have the TIW card.

[/QUOTE]

Love the Dumbo & Fantasyland pics. Barnstormer was DS17 favorite ride when he was little. Would love to see all 6' 3" of him on it in June for his graduation trip!

:welcome: back Stranger! :cool1: So glad to see you back on the boards. It's been a long time. Yeah for a graduation trip for your son! Yeah - I'm not sure if all 6'3" of him would fit in Goofini and on Dumbo!

When are you going in June? I will be there from the 8th - 15th.

Looks like you had a fabulous ladies trip.

Love your trip reports! So happy to find time to DIS again!

We had a blast in October. SO. MUCH. FUN. We are already planning our next ladies trip which will be in 2014. We are on the every 18 month plan. So glad you found some time to DIS again.

I love your pictures from the Goofini and with the fab 5 characters! That eggplant salad looks delicious!

Thanks! We had a blast over in Storybook Circus. It was really fun and so NOT crowded. Double bonus!

I love eggplant and I was still in the healthy eating mode since it was the beginning of my trip, so that salad hit the spot!

Cynthia. They had storybook circus merchandise when we were there in November. There were shirts.

Good to know. Afterall, the Disney marketing can't be complete until there is food, drink, and cool, irresistable T-shirts.

Your appetizer looked delicious. We need to eat there. Tom loves pizza so I know he would like it.

Great update!

The food at Via was really, really good and Cynthia's app does look amazing. I have been drooling over it all morning. :rotfl: Definitely schedule a meal there for one of your upcoming trips. :thumbsup2
