Springtime is the Best Time- Flower & Garden, a taste of Dapper Days and Earth Day -April 2024- Side Trip to Epic Opening Day

"Scalpel... Scalpel... Oh, for the love of... someone wake Mary up again!"

:rotfl2:

She'll get that back. :)

Yes she will. That wonderful tan on her legs that end at her socks..

Huh! I've never heard of that, before. Probably a good idea.

I think it worked well for those first few days. I know we enjoyed it.

I will always get that. Such a time saver!

This was a first for me and we ended up not using it at all.

But a good tired, yes? :)

Of course.

I don't remember that either, although it's been longer for me since I've been to Uni.

So, now you know.

That seems very Disney-ish to me. The words on the portal, I mean.

I think they took some hints from Disney for this park.

That is! I've never seen that.

It was like a powder maybe?

Nope. I don't follow any. Well... there's a Disdad who passed away a few years ago, so I started following his DD. She's got tons of followers now and was just interviewed by People magazine. But I follow her for her dad, and not really because she's an influencer. (I'm not even sure if that's the right word.)

I follow a few, but I'm not familiar with the person you mentioned. This photo has Tim Tracker and Molly and Alan from Mammoth Club. We ended up seeing Molly and Alan a few times in passing.

So could you see any of the area from this side of the portal? Or does the view only open up once you're through?

You really couldn't see much until you passed through this particular portal. I'll have to go back and look if you could see anything from the other portals.

I'm okay with that.

I was okay with it on this particular day too.

I did for many years. :)

And now you have evolved even more.

That was a fun coincidence; hopefully she took really good care of her!

She did but I felt they were rushing us out too.

I knew I could do it just fine, knowing what to expect and what they looked like. I was glad I did because one was completely clotted off with a clot like 5" long inside it. I ended up with a seroma that had to be drained off. :( Mine didn't hurt at all coming out, just gotta remember to clip the sutures.

What is a seroma? It doesn't sound good.

Danielle said two people pulled them out at the same time, one on each side of her.

I have to say we were pretty grossed out by the small bits that were coming out of the drains. We had to squeeze them out. 🤮

I love this portal concept. Super cool!

I like it too.

Pretty! I heard the prices for the hotel rooms is hideously high right now.

I can believe that.

She must look fun when she goes to the beach.
This was a first for me and we ended up not using it at all.
Oops!
Well... it's a timesaver when the park attendance isn't restricted.

Nope. Don't know them.

How is your trip prep going? Are you ready? What exciting things do you have planned
I've got my suitcase out and piles around it, LOL, but I'm close to ready! We are doing a tour of Whitney Plantation, New Orleans School of Cooking, and a river cruise on the Natchez. Of course lots of good eats and drinks, too, in particular have to go to the Carousel Bar! We're bringing my cousin and his wife who have only been once and didn't do anything but Bourbon Street, so I want to show them everything else. :)

Your Epic day is off to a great start!! I spy Molly in your influencer picture! Excited to see more.

And now you have evolved even more.
Very different work for sure now.
She did but I felt they were rushing us out too.
Was she admitted to the floor or was this outpatient? Most of our ladies stayed all day long for this.

It's a collection of fluid that builds up in a space with no outlet and usually have to be drained.

Yep, little clots are pretty common. :)

Epic looks awesome. I have had no desire to go to Universal as I am not a roller coaster person and I get motion sickness with screens but I really want to go to Epic. It looks like a lot of choke points though.

Her tan lines are interesting. I think any CM that works outside has interesting tan lines.

Oops!
Well... it's a timesaver when the park attendance isn't restricted

I can believe that after visiting the other Universal parks without it.

I like that. It's like the world opens up to you. :)

I think that's what they were going for.

Same!

This all sounds so fun.

You will be showing them a great time. There is so much more to New Orleans than just Bourbon Street.

You are correct. We saw her and Alan a few times in passing that day.

Very different work for sure now.

And very challenging. Your knowledge continues to grow.

This was outpatient. We were out of there before 12.

It's a collection of fluid that builds up in a space with no outlet and usually have to be drained.

That does not sound good at all. Danielle had another appointment today and will be cleared next week. She was told she can even ride the rides and get wet.

Yep, little clots are pretty common. :)
She was told that but they're still gross.

Epic looks awesome.

It really was.

I have had no desire to go to Universal as I am not a roller coaster person and I get motion sickness with screens but I really want to go to Epic.

The only desire I had to go was to see all the Harry Potter Stuff. I get motion sickness very easy too and there are so many attractions that messed with me in the Uni parks. I didn't have any real issues in Epic but I didn't ride the 2 I knew would get me.

It looks like a lot of choke points though.

I think at crowded times it would be.

More Epic Adventure on Opening Day.
Once we finished Yoshi's Adventure we headed into Donkey Kong territory. Our Express pass didn't cover Mine Cart Madness so we wanted to ride before it got too crowded. We kept seeing reports on how long people were waiting during the previews.

I have to say there was such a fun vibe when you crossed into DK territory. The music made you want to dance. It's the drum heavy music from the game, I think. It's a very cool area too. A & A founds lots of places to use their bands. We also played on the drum game some too. You have to try to keep the beat with the music. The drum lights up when you need to hit it and several people are playing together. I'm sorry I didn't get any pictures.

As you can see it wasn't very crowded. We got into the single rider line for Mine Cart to save some time. I really enjoyed the ride. I wish we had gone back later and rode it again. The cart is attached to an arm so it looks like you're suspended and jumping the track. I got a picture of the entrance, some of the ride showing the suspended look and the test cart.

We made our way back through the Super Mario area and caught a character greet with Toadstool. He is so cute.

A & A played with their bracelets some and then we headed to Mario Kart-Bowser's Challenge. This was a ride on the Express pass and as we entered we asked the Team Member if the wait was long and should we use the EP. He said it wasn't bad & to save it for later in the day if the lines got long. Good thing we listened to him. If we had used the EP we would not have gotten a refund later in the day. I know we waited a bit, but it wasn't bad. Such a cute ride and I loved the competition. My kids like playing Marion Kart but I haven't ever really played it but did enjoy this ride. I know they would have loved it.

Lots of stairs as you entered.

The Man.

Here we are ready to ride. The headgear wasn't a good fit for everyone. If I'm remembering right, we had some googles that attached to the headgear with projections on them. I think they used magnets and were given to you as you got into the ride.

This was another ride I would have liked to have ridden again. We did some shopping here before we left. I didn't buy anything but I looked real hard. I wanted to get something for Dominic here, he loves Super Mario. A & A got some items. Robin's sister collects popcorn buckets. I think she got one from each portal except Dark Universe. As much as we enjoyed this portal we never made it back inside it. We did return to do some shopping at the store right outside the portal entrance.

Up next will be a different portal. Which one?

I’m enjoying your Epic adventure. I did buy EP for Andi and I. I have been watching many threads and I think we will need it. Andi despises long waits so I think it was a good purchase. It is the 1x per ride that have EP.
I’m debating riding mine kart because of my back. I have heard it is really jerky.
This area will be lost on me. Andi and Jack play Mario games but I honestly don’t know anything about it.

I think it is a good purchase. The only reason it ended up not being good for us was the lower attendance. If I were to go back it would want it.

I was warned that it was jerky too, but I don't remember having any real issues.

This area will be lost on me. Andi and Jack play Mario games but I honestly don’t know anything about it.

Many years ago, when I was a cool Mom I played Zelda and Super Mario 3 with Brent. The better the graphics got the more it messed with my equilibrium and the more kids we had the less time I had to play.

I think this Land would be completely lost on me. I've never played it, nor did any of my kids, I don't think. I do know though that sometimes the rides can still be fun, but I doubt there'd be a theming "connection" there for me.

My brother and I spent A TON of time as kids playing Donkey Kong Country on our Super Nintendo, so this land gives me all the feels!! The Mine Cart levels of the game were some of our most challenging and I remember the absolute insane level of our excitement the first time one of us beat it for the first time. I hope someday I can get him to Epic, so we can ride together!
