Shaping up for 2.0

I am open to keeping it up. Darn Holiday Sweets - I will be glad when all temptations are gone.

I am going to try to concentrate on colorful vegetables!

January through May is a perfect time to get back on track. Nov and Dec are always trouble! Deb and I are both gunning for healthy bodies by 2.0. It's going to feel great!

I haven't visited in a while, but wanted to give an update:

I have continued my walking and despite a slight setback after my October trip to Texas & WDW where I gained 5lbs, I can officially announce as of a week ago, I lost those 5lbs and an additional 2lbs.

My best news is this week, I weighed in two mornings in a row, I have lost an additional 10lbs making my Total Weight loss since June 1st of 38lbs.

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Signature is updated to post new milestone......:wish35

Tracy,
I think you have inspired me. I am traveling 1/27 until 2/4. I plan on walking during those times and continuing after returning home. I had a great time at Rainforest (Our favorite LOL). Looking forward to seeing you again on the cruise. I am booking onboard the Jan 31 cruise. I'll try to post daily on Facebook also. I lost my job the day we got back from our Dec Cruise so I have lots of time.
Melissa

I want to lose 75 lbs by the cruise....will it happen?

I am going to start the South Beach Diet soon....I wanna start it before April.

I am already doing the C25K program. Going to start doing fat burning pilates soon too.

I would like to join in on this thread if that's alright? I akipped around this thread and read several posts ( too many to read all of them ) and I really like the support that you all give one and other. Now since I did not read the whole thread is there any requirements or rules, such as weelly weigh ins or do you just post your progress as you go along? Thanks!

Two pounds per week would be do-able. But can you keep it off? I did well last summer into early fall with slow and steady weight loss. Then I stopped paying attention and punds crept back on!

If you want to start diet before April, well, NOW is before April.
But watch out for going on a "diet". Better would be to develope good eating and fitness habits that will be with you for the rest of your life.

Good luck. We are all doing it together.

Are you going on the podcast cruise?
As far as I know, that is the only "requirement" and I am sure that is not a hard and fast rule.

I don't think we have any rules, no weigh-ins or reporting requirements.

We lend support and cheer each other on.
Admit to setbacks and accept encouragement from others.

Welcome!

I don't know if I can keep it off, but I sure as heck can try! I took the first step and bought myself a scale. I have never owned one, so I never really knew when the pounds were creeping back on. I have lost 60 lbs before using just the South Beach Diet, but then I got pregnant. It is hard to keep weight off during the winter isn't it! I swear our bodies go into hibernation mode and storing!

Yep, it isn't really a diet, it is a way of life! I definitely will treat myself once in a while though! As far as why not start the way of life now, I have alot of food that is not South Beach friendly that needs to get out of the house and I don't want to throw it away..so I will be eating it, gotta save my pennies!:thumbsup2

Aaawww... come on, what is more important, the pennies or your health? But I know what you mean. Hard to get rid of food that has already been purchased. Have to make the right decisions at the grocery store.

This food that is not "South Beach friendly", is it healthy, at least? We are not talking about Cheetos, are we? (I love Cheetos. This is why I must never buy Cheetos!!!)

Yes, I totally agree about hibernation mold. Makes "being good" sometimes dificult.

About the treats - here is a scary thing I read recently. If you are "good" with your food all week and allow yourself an extra 500 calorie "treat" every weekend, you could easily gain ten pounds or more every year. Year after year, and yup, that's how the pounds add up. Even when you were eating "good" all week. How distressing!

That math is skewed towards total couch-potato syndrome... 500 calories x 52 weeks / by 3500 calories in 1 pound = 7 pound gain at the most. And chances are, if you are actually "good" the whole year, those 7 pounds wouldn't show up.

And I prefer the 80# in one summer approach to weight gain - best summer of my life! :lmao:

Yuppers going on the PCC it will be my first cruise ever. I need to shed the pounds for health reasons and the PCC just seems like a good target time for the first part of the goal. I need to set a goal I guess but this time I would like to just try make healthier food choices and do more exercise because I barely do any. I would like to focus on that instead of the main focus being on how much weight I can lose how fast like I always do . I lost 47 pounds not long ago and gained back every single pound. I don't eat alot it's what I eat. I am not a sweets person. Could live without chocolate, chips, cake all that but step away from my cheese and mayo!!! That has got to change!:guilty:

Eek..don't tell me that!

Jaime, you lost me on the math, but I am guessing a 7 pound gain is a good thing. Wow that must have been an awesome summer....what summer was this?

Well, the pennies and my health are equally important ;). I gotta save the pennies to get out of debt to get on PCC 2.0! And no I don't have anything really bad. Just a lot of carbs. Like Cheerios, Crackers, Noodles, Lean Cuisines. These are all not so South Beach Diet friendly. It seems that if I grab a sleeve of saltines they magically disappear! :rotfl:

Oh, my! I can't imagine losing all the weight then gaining it all back! How discouraging.

But that is close to what I did. I have never "gone on a diet". Last summer was the first time I consciously set about to tame my eating. We had a contest with three us us at work. In 12 weeks, I had lost 4.5% of my weight. The winner lost 9%. Then I stopped paying attention and weight started to go back on. Well, I learned my lesson. What I eat and how much I move really does make a difference!

Let's keep encouraging each other to stay on track.
We will all have a grand and fit time on the cruise!

What if you gained seven pounds every year for the next seven year? Would you want to weigh fifty pounds more than you do today?!

It would indeed be interesting to hear about Jaime's "best summer ever"!

Hey, don't knock Cheerios! They are my everyday breakfast, with half a banana.

As I said, I have never "dieted". I want to be able to eat most "everything". Nothing blacklisted. I just need to eat less of everything!

And, yes, out of debt before the Podcast Cruise! I hope people are not going into debt to go on the cruise.

And now for my new good health habit. I am going to get some sleep!

Sounds great! Now to set some type of goal to work towards...not sure what is reasonable anymore.

Well cheerios are bad for me, but everyone has different body chemistry. I like being able to eat alot and just having items blacklisted. I don't like portion control and feeling hungry! It is all about Low GI foods for me.

I went into debt to go on the last one, but the friendships I made were priceless! :grouphug:!!

I need to start getting my 8 hours of sleep....I don't know when that will start! I still have to watch last nights American Idol!:happytv:

Hope you got some sleep Lyn!

My insanity workout should be here tomorrow, so I'll start on Wed I think. Diet and exercise is going to kick my butt for 63 days, but I know it will be worth it at the end!
