Shaping up for 2.0

My insanity workout should be here tomorrow, so I'll start on Wed I think. Diet and exercise is going to kick my butt for 63 days, but I know it will be worth it at the end!

Let us know how that works out for you.

I work with two guys who do P90X. They love it and it seems to work really well. They both started "insanity" last week. Should be interesting to see the results. Good luck. :thumbsup2

I would like to join ya'll. I restarted the Southbeach today. Since thanksgiving i gained 10lbs. (thanksgiving, 7days at WDW with free dining, and christmas). I love the SB and go on it when i want to lose weight. Last year I lost 23 lbs and have about 20-30 more to lose. I totally agree about winter and hibernating. Now that the weather has warmed up a bit i can get out and walk. My 8yr daughter goes with me on her scooter and bugs me when we don't go. She is my motivation. She also reminded me last night to make some SF jello for dessert tonight. I also have a huge crock pot of vegetarian chili cooking for dinner.

Welcome! I just started this weight loss thing again too. Crawled back on the ol wagon so to speak. I found hearing other peoples stories to be great modivation. Even stories where some have had a bad day or two just help one to remember that they are not alone out there. :)

I am thinking of starting a blog to track my progress since not everyone has facebook.

As for the sig...I got in a fight on the transportation boards, as you might have seen in my FB status, so the sig is a bit of a commentary on all that :cool1:

edit: I should add that I know most ppl who do insanity have done other workouts. I'm out of shape pretty bad, but I've done drum corps before and if there's anything that kicks your butt VERY fast, it's drum corps. So I'm fairly confident that even tho it'll hurt, I'll complain, etc etc, I know I am mentally tough to handle it, and that's what really matters.

Well I no longer am getting in shape just to feel better and be healthier. I have signed up for the Wine and Dash Half Marathon in October. I am also thinking about the Muddy Buddy in Orlando again this year and I will be doing something for Marathon Weekend 2011. Not sure if it will be the Half or the Full quite yet.

Good for you! Let me know about the Muddy Buddy. I'd be interested.

Edit: Just checked the dates, I'm already booked to be in Vegas the date of the Orlando Muddy Buddy :( Bummer

I'm going to be down there at that time anyway. I would need to discuss it with the people with whom I am going.

Dave Parfitt also said he'd like to look into doing it again. I am thinking about starting a thread on the main podcast board about it.

Is anyone on here weight training to help with their weight loss? If not, you should consider it. It is a major component to fat loss. Just sayin' :thumbsup2

YUP! and I totally agree. Muscle burns calories! :thumbsup2

I do weights at the gym - upper one day, lower the other. Sometimes I do both on the same day. But not the same pasrt two days in a row.

Is it true that I burn more calories on the treadmill after I do weights?

Yes. Also after a weight workout you burn calories at rest while your muscles repair themselves. :thumbsup2

So cool! I am going to keep doing them.

(hhmmm... I don't suppose that means I can eat something yummy while I am at rest? No, I guess not!)

Yay! Another Southbeacher! Welcome Kathie!

Thanks for the tip about lifting weights, Paul! :yay:

I have been watching this post and I wanted to say that I have lost 25 pounds so far. How is everyone else doing with their weight loss? Congrats to all of us who are trying to shape up before the cruise!! :goodvibes

I haven't check in for a while now... I had a slight set back over the holidays - I gained a few pounds back during December, but I am back on the right track now.

I am still walking and I have tried to add some new changes to my walk. Due to the cold weather, my walking has moved indoors. We have a large Multipurpose room in our building at work that I am walking around in the mornings. Since January 1st, I have added hand weights a couple of days a week and on the off days for the weights I have added one round of climbing the stairs to the top floor in the tower section of our building at work. My hope is to increase the number of trips I make up and down the stairs.

I had a minor crash and burn - gained back 4.8 in 10 weeks. Got a little back on track by tracking what I ate 2 days one week, 3 days the next, and all 7 days last week. I have lost 4.4 of the 4.8. And that was all last week! So I'm being diligent this week to stay in my point range, get a little movement in, and get those fruits/veggies and milks in!

Unfortunately, my birthday dinner is Saturday night - and they are making my favorite - Mom's fried chicken and potato salad... :sad2: I'm saving points and will measure out portions.

Well, I've gained a bit from lots of indulgences from October through December. I've got to get myself back on track. The good news is that my setback is minor compared to the fact that I've maintained a fairly decent weight loss (and will get back to losing!) since November 18, 2008! So I'm both happy and annoyed with myself.

I'm sure you'll be back on track!
