I shipped a box to POR in August through UPS and it arrived fine. I was able to ship back home through UPS from the concierge desk. Cost about $20 each way for a medium box with light/ medium weight.

BTW, it was my town in MI that had the bedbugs at the library. The library right near the school I teach at.

I'm in Holland :wave2: and my son's defensive coach for hockey lives in your area :) His kids go to Mattawan.

Small world! I'm from Holland but live in Allegan now. We love POR and just visited last month for a week :)

Hi all! I was just looking at some maps of the room locations at POR trying to debate what room locations would be best for us. Are there any maps that tell which rooms are connecting rooms? We already know we need AB since we are a family of five but we are traveling with my parents and would like connecting rooms. Mom can't do stairs so we need first floor. Looking at the maps, it doesn't appear that there are that many standard rooms at AB so I'm thinking we might have to bump up to garden view to improve our chances of connecting rooms. We're looking for our cheapest option since we spend so little time in our rooms but we really want the connecting rooms so the kids can visit, sleep, and spread out into Grandma and Pa's room, LOL! Any idea if this info is out there anywhere?

I posted this a while back but it got buried and I am still debating what to do. Would we increase our chances of connecting rooms if we bumped up to garden view? Is there I map of connecting rooms anywhere that I could view? Thanks!

It was answered. There is no connecting-room map as such, but since about 50% of the rooms in all categories are connecting (with the exception of King-to-King), changing room categories would make no difference to your chances. Just request what you want and hopefully you'll be OK (see www.portorleans.org/room-requests.php for suggestions on how to make requests). Don't forget to ask for CONNECTING rather than just adjoining rooms though.

Thanks so much! I must have missed the original response. I do apologize!:thumbsup2 I guess we will put in our requests and hope for the best!

Good luck requesting connecting rooms on your original reseervation reqquests. Took us about 6 calls to get it right. They kept insisting that adjoining and connecting were the same. I kept saying adjoining means next to, connecting have a door connecting them. Just double check them bc they said they would change it but didn't.

I am going to do BOG for lunch.....I think the RFID rose sounds awesome!

We'll do the same I think. Having tried Dinner a few weeks ago it'll be nice to see what Lunch is like. I wonder whether they'll gradually phase the roses out and just get people to use their RFID MagicBands when they are launched? (You do know that the roses essentially just contain a MagicBand?)

Andre- happy to check this out for you while we're here. I'll be in touch!

Thanks. I am hoping I got all the details right, but I'm just not 100% sure about which corners of those central blocks have ice machines, stairways, both, or neither, especially on the parking lot sides of the buildings. And I really thought I'd noted down everything I could. :(

If you do spot any errors where my map does not fit with what's there in real life, just let me know the room number closest to the location and what's actually there. Thanks!

Andre

"As your group is five people you will definitely be in Alligator Bayou. Personally I'd suggest paying the extra $10/night for a Garden View room just to avoid the possibility of looking out over a parking lot, but it's up to you, even the parking lot views are not ugly. Buildings 16 and 17 are the best to request for easy access to the main areas without actually making a Preferred Location booking, and to be honest the rooms there are pretty-much as close as many of the preferred ones anyway. See www.portorleans.org/room-requests.php for more ideas."

Thanks Andre!!! I knew you would know the answer! Karla

I posted on the main board, before I found this one, so I'll ask my question here and hope some of you pros can help....sorry if I am beating a dead horse....

Would I be better off using the south depot or one of the other depots in the mornings to avoid the most crowded buses?

I am debating which building I should request....16, 37 or 38.

Also, I am curious to see Venom's report on the room situation he encountered....I have had two room issues at POR....
1. 4 years ago, bugs were coming in the room from under the door and one (we assume) bit my DS in a rather sensitive place while he slept on the trundle! There had been very heavy rains before our arrival and the staff said it was driving all manner of insects looking for refuge...they moved us to a second story room to help escape some of the critters.
2. Last year, I was stripping the sheets off the bed on the regular sheet change day and noticed that there was what appeared to be urine on the mattress cover, not a stain, but it just hadn't been changed from the last guest...YUCK! It was in the center and high up on the cover....like where an infant or young child may have slept between parents. I called and informed management and they took care of it and were very apologetic.

6 days and we check in. Im so excited, just finished the last of the clothing I was making today, almost completely packed except for toiletries, I just can't wait to be there. we stayed at POR last February and were happy to get a good rate to return this year. SO excited!

I think the horse may not quite be dead yet, but it's probably on its knees by now... if you do a search in this thread alone for the word "bus" you'll get 97 separate results (98 now I guess :) ).

I guess the short answer is that there is no definitive answer. The slightly longer answer is that it varies a lot, especially between different parks and days. Some people favour the South Depot, but for buses which visit the South Depot last (e.g. often the Magic Kingdom) it might be better to use one of the outer stops. However during the early morning, they often run separate buses anyway. I'd try both and see how you get on.

I have to admit, now that I know Venoms issue....im scared!!!! I googled the issue and found many similar complaints (not just at POR....I get it, it can happen anywhere) but I also read that if its in 1 room....it's in more. And that is what has me worried.

We stayed at CBR in June and sent 2 boxes to the resort. They were waiting for us when we checked in and bell services brought them to our room. Went we left we used our prepaid shipping labels for one box, couldn't find the other label and they weighed it and shipped it for us. Our prepaid labels were defiantly cheaper but Disney's shipping wasn't horribly priced. We checked in on a Saturday and I think I shipped on the Monday before we left. They arrived on Thursday. We are trying POR this October and am not sure if we will ship since we received incredible flight prices for first class and we are allowed 2 bags each.

Thanks for your replies! I'm assuming I can take my USPS Priority box to Concierge?

Thanks! I didn't know you could search within a thread :thanks:

On a total whim this morning I changed our current reservations for April 6-9 from CBR to POR. Cannot wait as this will be our first stay at POR. We stayed at POFQ in 2011 and loved the whole resort.
