It's been some time since my last visit...are the safes key or combination?

I do....let me see if I can get them to download.....We spent our 1st anniversary at POR...We also got married at Cocoa Beach and honeymooned at WL :) Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

This room was in the Mansion section.

Thanks. It looks pretty. Can't wait to be there. :thumbsup2

We were there in Dec and we struggled with this question. After a 15 day trip I have to ask, will you eat in the food court often or do you plan to dine mainly parks/other resorts?

.. Snip ..

That question is really making me rethink my room choice. The only reason why I really want close to the main building it to refill my resort mug without having to trek miles.

I'm now thinking of actually asking for Building 38. I have a king room reservation. I can ask for a king bed and a river view, and it will probably be easier than getting a king bed in a preferred building. Plus, it's really close to the North Depot and it's also not far from the hot tub :)

I don't plan on eating at the main restaurant, so 38 might just be perfect.

I have only read through page 23 and am loving all the info. My AMAZING father is taking myself, husband and brother along with all five grand kids to POR june1-7. The kids are all between 5and 7. We will be getting a scooter for grandpa and a double stroller for extra help. Our reservations are for Royal Rooms. Are there any suggestions or other information that might help make this as perfect as possible? Thanks!

Hey venom, i don't have enough posts to pm either. As we are scheduled to arrive in one month, four rooms, royal rooms, river view, i was wondering if you would be do kind as to pm me whatever info you are sharing at this point so we can make an informed choice? Thanks in advance!

I wish someone would just say what the issue was. We are staying there for part of our trip. I don't post here much but an answer would be appreciated. Many are worried now.

I fully understand what you are saying, but the person who posted the hints to the problem last week has chosen to deal with it personally by direct PMs until they get a chance to write up a full trip report upon their return. I suspect in hindsight that this may have generated more worry and concern than either posting the full details or not posting anything at all in the first place, but it's done now and I am going to respect his wishes rather than "spilling the beans" on his trip report as that choice is up to him not me.

All I will say is that while the situation he encountered was not very nice and it did require a room-change (and it was not bedbugs), it has now been dealt with and it would NOT deter me from booking at POR again (or any other Disney resort come to that). It is not something that is specific to any particular resort, and it was just bad luck that it happened as it did.

Just bought my airfare on Wednesday. I am so glad I did because it went up by $150 a ticket on Friday. Only 228 days and 23 hours until our flight takes off. I cannot wait
! I am so looking forward to staying at POR. For the first time we are going to spend our first day, not at the parks, but exploring the resort and going to DTD for dinner. Of course I might have to change the plans and add Friday to the tickets, LOL.

After a day of recooperation and one more day of leisure in the parks. I will go back to work on Monday. But I will and promise to continue to support this thread and help anyone who may need it. I spoke with the resort manager and they are well aware they tell me and did quarantine my room I was in. They will be looking into other rooms around it for signs of the problem and will take care of it accordingly.

Will the guest that PMed me and told me about the room 9534 or parterre river room please pm me back I have info for you.

That is great news. Sounds like they are proactive an appropriately taking care of it. Makes me much more comfortable about deciding to stay.

I read recently about VIP cleaning. Can anyone tell me about this? My DD and I have bad dust allergies. How does one get this? Can you request a new filter in the AC? Is there a charge for this? What exactly do they do?

Thank you Andre!
We are going to be staying at POR for the first time. I did send a PM to him and hopefully will be able to find out the issue before we go. I realize things happen everywhere... I appreciate all you! These pages have been board has been wonderful while planning our vacation. :)

Pops the elephant in the room into a cupboard and wondered if anyone can tell me about hiring a Sea Raycer?

Last year my daughter, 22, hired one from the beach at Fort Wilderness and thought it was great. We are staying at POFQ in May and I wondered if anyone could tell me about hiring one from Riverside and where and indeed how far you can go from the Marina.

Thanks in advance.

You can request in advance that your room is deep cleaned for alergy reasons, etc. There is no extra charge for that. I don't know whether that includes AC filter changing though, but I would guess not.

You can go as far down the river as you like, all the way to Downtown Disney or Old Key West if you wish. Speed is limited to around 5-7mph, which is slightly slower than the Bay Lake rental boats. For full details and prices please see www.portorleans.org/rentals.php.

We'll do the same I think. Having tried Dinner a few weeks ago it'll be nice to see what Lunch is like. I wonder whether they'll gradually phase the roses out and just get people to use their RFID MagicBands when they are launched? (You do know that the roses essentially just contain a MagicBand?)

Andre

Yeah I figured it was the same thing. I like the rose idea though and hope they keep it. Will be at POR in 8 days! I am so excited... We tried the Caribbean last time and hated it so back to POR we go!

What did you hate about CBR? What do you love about POR in comparison? I am still trying to decide which mod we want to stay at in August...

Hi we are going on sat 16th ,I am a little worried about the situation .On a differant note does anyone know how much a cab to narcossees would be.We have reservations on sat and not sure how to get there the fastest /easiest. I am still looking forward to our trip but the posts about a "problem'' at the resort have definately put a damper on it. Regardless this thread has been so helpful in planning.Thank you Nan - aylarosie

We taxied in June from CBR to WL and it was $16. It was much quicker and well worth it. We are planning to do it again in October for WL breakfast. I know there is a link on the boards for estimating taxi prices. We called from the room and they sent me a text when the driver was close.

One family in one room had an issue, which we've been told will be fully documented in a forthcoming trip report. They were moved, and the problem has apparently been rectified. It did not (again, as far as we know) affect any of the other 2,047 rooms at POR.

So please don't let it worry you too much, I'm sure you will be fine and you'll have a great time.

Or, to put it another way... in unrelated news, someone was mugged in Miami last week so I'm now seriously considering not travelling to Florida in August after all. [OK, that last bit was meant as a humorous interjection, for those folks who don't pick up so well on my wry British irony :) ]
