Looks like its just going really sloooooow.

Just to make sure I understand - these are the 70's 80's and 90's right?

6 and 10 being 70's and the others being 80's 90's?

:goodvibes Oh man!!! I want the refurbs done NOWWW!! hahaha

I hope we get a refurbed room when we go in June! I think I may request 70's or 80's since they will be done when we go...I think :)

This should help clarify what buildings are in which decade ...

Hmm, now I see why the 70's are Bldgs. 6 & 10! I never understood that before, but it makes total sense when you realize the order that they are numbered in. (and I've looked at the map countless times before, just never realized that! LOL)

Okay people....I called POP and got the scoop. This is the order of the renovations.

60s era - started but not finished and not currently renovating this era (bldgs 4, 5)
70s era - 95-100% complete (bldgs 6, 10)
80s era - 95-100% complete (bldgs 7, 9)
90s era - starting now (bldg 8)
50s era - scheduled start date August 23, scheduled end date 1st week of November (bldgs 1, 2, 3)
60s era - phase 2 - finish the 60s building to start after the 50s is complete (bldgs 4,5)

She said they are doing one floor at a time and don't start another floor until the current one is complete. Because of the summer months being so "packed" they will be slowing down for the season. (if they were packed, why so many promotions????) She said this is the "contract", but things could slow down or speed up at any time.

So....I like the 50s building and they are starting those 1 week before I get there...UGH. She said if you want a renovated room, you can request it 10 days before you arrive - although I assume that is just a "request". So, now that I don't have to stress about Free Dining anymore, I guess I'll stress about Pop's renovations! We will stay in the 50s building regardless (it's our favorite) - but it would be nice to be in a renovated room.

Thanks for that great update! Any reason requests are 10 days in advance? I made my request when I made my reservation - does that count at all? Do I need to call POP directly.

No. You put in your request at the time of booking. 10 days prior to arrival you can "check in". This can be done online or by phone. If you want to request a renovated room, then you have to call. But, I'm sure it's just another "request".

Tammi's right.. just put the refurb request on your reservation.. calling won't increase or decrease your odds of getting it..

They'll be exactly the same if you just make your request at the time of reservation.

And WOW great schedule there Tammi -- altho I gotta say I am completely shocked at the LONG sked.

As for the promos.. they did the promos and now they're getting booked.. Previously they weren't booked ... I suspect they are kinda taken back by how many bookings the promo generated and hence the delay in the sked.

Well, now I am worried. We requested the 80's building because my son is a Rubik's cube lover and really wants to stay in that building. Plus we loved that location last time we were at Pop. Now that they are renovated I am guessing that our chances of getting our request are slimmer as people request the renovated rooms. We are a party of 7 so we have our rooms connecting/adjoining so I don't think we will have much luck getting a request at walk in as they will have to move two rooms, not just one. Oh well. We are going in late June so I expect it will be crowded!

Just arrived a few hours ago...in 90's building, facing the pool. The refurbed room is nice and pretty much what I was expecting (first value stay in 13 years). I can already tell that I will be tired of the long walk for my morning coffee in a day or so, but this decade is close to my heart! :) I took pics, which are not different from the ones we've all seen - but I'll still post them in the next couple of days. Cheers!

You must be reading my mind. I just said the same thing to my DH this morning. We requested the 80's because that is the area we like, not because of the renovations. We will also be there in June and I hope that we are not knocked out of that section because people are asking for refurbished rooms. Oh well... we will be in Disney, so I will be happy regardless, but I really want the 80's section. We also have a party of 7 and have asked for 2 rooms together. You could have written my post.

We actually requested 80's, 2 rooms together .... and got 90's, connecting rooms. They were able to get us in the general area, so that was a plus - and as I said, I'm okay with it. We're having fun! :)

Since we are booked in a preferred room...(actually, 2 rooms), the 70's (or part of it) is preferred, correct?

Also, I assume that when I check in online , there is a place where I can request our rooms an certain location? It's our first time staying at Pop and the kids are thrilled.:banana:

I was there last year and honestly didn't thing the room needed a refurb. So you should be fine.

You should just call disney reservations and have them not your reservation now.

Just back from a long weekend at Pop. We did not get a refurbed room as we were in building four. We did get floor 4, which does make a difference in the noise heard in the room. The location was great, nice view, not far from the bus/food court. The room was very, very clean but the beds were really squishy. I would have no problem staying in one of the old non-refurbed rooms again.

Also the buses were awesome. I don't think we waited more than five minutes for a bus during the whole stay. :thumbsup2

I wondered this too. If I do on-line check in, how do I get the request that I have had on there since the initial reservation? If we don't get it, is there someone to talk to or what?
Thanks!
