POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

Does anyone know how long these refurbs tend to take? We are planning to stay in February and I would assume that all rooms would be completed by then. Has anyone heard a date as to when it should be all done???

Is it weird that I don't care so much about getting a refurbed room as much as I care about getting the location ( bld 3 or 4 lake view) we desire?! I'm sure they are nice but I just don't like the area the ones that are done are in!:sad2:
Im sure I must be the only one right?! :rotfl:
No I'm the same way. I'd rather be close to my coffee pot. LOL than have a flat screen tv that I never watch. I'm okay as long as the room is clean. after all, all I do is sleep there. but good luck to others that want one. wish you luck. :cool1:
No, you're not the only one. For this upcoming trip, we REQUESTED a preferred first floor room facing the Hippy Dippy Pool. My preference would be to open the door and fall into the pool!:rotfl2: We want to be right in the middle of all the goings-on. If it happens to be refurbed by the time we get their in June, so be it. The location is more important for us than a refurb. I'm hoping everyone who is looking for a quiet refurb gets one and leaves our requested area to us. If I want peace, quiet and no crowds, I wouldn't be going to WDW. I want fun and craziness and that normally does not relate to QUIET!
Everyone have fun!!!
Got back last night from a stay at Pop. We requested ground floor, facing lake, 50's or 60's, and got all 3 requests, in building 3. Not refurbished, but location was more important for us. I did not notice any work going on during a walk around the resort, but may have missed it.
:thumbsup2 We totally agree ... location is more important to us than a refurbished room. We're heading back in 10 days and have requested one of our favorite locations - top floor, 50's, facing the lake.

I'm hoping the rooms are all done by the end of September. But my request is more important we got it last year and I want it again. 60's building lake view. I don't care what floor. Last year we had a beautiful view of a big tree but it was away from the pool but still close.

We stayed in rooms 4326 and 4327 Sat night May 1. This was a preferred location 60's building (I think). Neither room was refurbed, but we loved the location. I didn't think the rooms looked they needed any work - the carpet was stained in a couple of places, though.

Exactly where we request! Great minds think alike!

Quite honestly, the current rooms have larger credenzas with more drawers than the new ones so I'd rather have an older room. And more than that, I like the bldg 2 top floor with a lake view room! We can see the fireworks at night there and it is very quiet from the pools!:surfweb::thumbsup2 This will be our 4th straight year at Pop.

Any dates that I've heard for this completion are clearly not going to be met .. Originally I was being told that late May or early June would see all the buildings complete.

For reasons I cannot tell ya, it's WAY slower than that. My new target based on the rate they're going is end of August..

But hey - they could slow down or speed up.. who knows.

Well, that's a sure way to get our curiosity going!! ;) Then again, you know what they say about curiosity....but it sounds interesting. :thumbsup2

Just got back yesterday. We were on the first floor of Building 7 - 80's. They were working on the 4th floor when we got there. They started on the 3rd floor around Thursday, April 29 as they had packed up at least some of the rooms on that floor. (A light was left on and the curtains open and I could see the linens packed in large bags and all the room stuff stacked on the one bed. It looked like they had a large container in there as well to put those items in.) The next day there was a sheet of paper on the windows. I never did go and look to see what it said, but I'm assuming it is either a work permit or a schedule check list.

Also, one elevator was closed the whole time for construction purposes. There was a large sign by it saying so. Plus, when I saw it open, it was completely lined (floor & walls) with boards. On the last day we heard our first construction noise (some light banging) mid morning, not sure if it could be heard earlier in the week as we were always out of the room by 8:30.

Sorry no pictures. I kept thinking I should go explore the construction areas with my camera, but I was on vacation and park time got priority ;)

Now the question is whether anyone else would be put into our room or if we were the last there before it gets refurbed.

with Disney it's always a guessing game. LOL! maybe they will get finish by the time I come end of October, but if they don't that's alright too. after all I'm at Disney and that's the important part.:yay:

Can someone tell me when the refurb is supposed to be done? We really need that curtain in the bathroom with a girl niece having to stay with a boy
QUOTE]

OK, we stayed at POP in a non refurbed room and the bathroom itself had a door on it that opened and closed. I used the bathroom to get dressed in. Not sure why everyone needs the privacy curtain for the vanity area when you can just simply go into the bathroom.

Here's the only reason the curtain really matters to us -- to save time.
If we had to wait for each of us to shower AND dress in the bathroom, we'd be waiting twice as long. Having the sink area as a dressing room allows someone to be showering while someone else is dressing.
For me, it's not a big deal, we're a family; but my kids are really hitting the "privacy" age, so they care. :confused3
I'm bringing my own curtain and tension rod in case we don't get an updated room, but I'm really hoping for a refurb!! :thumbsup2

Hahaha.. actually when said "I cannot tell ya" -- that meant cause I have no flipping idea! :)

Just seems to be going slower than previous refurbs at other values.. but then my sense of time may be off too..

As for when it will all be done?? Who knows at this point.

Another advantage of the curtain is light. I'm always the first one up in my family. I take a shower and shave before anyone else gets up. The curtain keeps the room from lighting up, allowing others to sleep a little longer.

I read a report that using two 3M Command hooks (those stick on removable ones) work great with less packing space. Just thought I'd share.

Hi everyone....

I just didn't feel like reading all the posts - I got through 1/2 of them. Sorry if this question has been asked.

I saw that the buildings "should" be done this year. What buildings are done - does anyone know? I always stay in the 50's or 60's buildings (preferably the 50's) and I'm hoping they will be done. Any insight is appreciated!

Hi Knox! I found something else to do now that I got my Free Dining! Miss all your knowledge! (p.s. the use of my credit card is still available!)

Looks like Buildings 6, 8, 9 completely done.

Building 7 started - maybe done by now.

Building 10 not started yet (according to a poster on another thread).

Looks like its just going really sloooooow.
