I'm not sure if this is an appropriate forum or not... but we usually do a grocery stop at the Super Target off of 417 when we go to WDW. In January we're going to be there for DS's birthday and I'd like to pre-order and pick up a cake. We don't have Super Targets in our area, so I don't know where to look for pictures of what is available. Any ideas? I didn't find anything on target.com.

I did find that Publix has an online gallery of their available cakes, so I might just go with them if I can't see what Target has to offer. Any other bakeries around the area that I should check out?

We've done Disney cakes before for my birthday once and DS's first birthday and they just weren't all that fantastic for the price, so I'm thinking this is the way I want to go tor this one.

TIA!

I've had good luck with other Publix baked goods, if that helps.

I have had great luck with Super Target cakes. They used to bake them fresh, but the last two years were frozen fresh, if you know what I mean. Still good, i have to say. They have the usual ones that Wal-mart has, but they definitely taste better. my son loves Thomas and we had a Thomas cake for four years in a row. After the second year, the lady in the bakery said didn't you get this cake last year? And of course I said yes. She said I will make this one special so you can tell the difference in your pictures and started laughing. She made an awesome cake that we can definitely tell which year was which and the same with the next year. they definitely go out of their way, i thought.

I'm not sure where you could look, but our Supertarget usually has a good selection of pre-made/decorated cakes in stock that you can just pick out when you get there and have the message written on it while you wait. They are very good and the whipped frosting on them if you get that, is scrumptious!

I live in Florida and shop at Publix. It's not a birthday for anyone I know unless the cake comes from Publix. Yummmmmmy. They do a buttercream frosting and a whipped cream frosting. The whipped is delish!!!!!!!!!!

You won't go wrong with a publix cake!

Thanks everyone - I think I'm leaning towards Publix then!

Now if they only had several options with Mickey. I'm not nuts about the "Malt Shop" one that they show on their site. They have a cool pirate ship and some fun Pooh ones, but I asked DS "Pooh, Mickey, or Pirates?" last night, and he said "Mickey" so there you go. I may go with more generic and try to find a cute Mickey topper. There is a Dora one with her hill and I think it looks kind of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse-ish...so I'm considering that one and then I'd pull off the Dora stuff and put on some Mickey and friends figures (if I can find some...not the official MMC ones of course). They also have a Disney Princess castle cake that I could pull the girly stuff off of and add Mickey for the Magic Kingdom.

Thansk again!

another vote for publix! we always order the birthday cakes from there!

Be sure to ask at the counter and see if they can do anything else. My sister's Publix is awesome and will work with the customer. She had them make this incredible Thomas the Tank cake for my DS when we visited over the summer. They might be happy to make the substitutions for you.

Thanks Soccerchick! I'll make a call to the Publix next week and ask about options and ideas.

Just call them. I am having them make my Wedding cake. They are great to work with. If you just email them a pic they will do almost anything.

Lowie - now that's a testament to the Publix cakes...I'm sure your DH would get a discount...any of us budget-boarders passing up a discount carries a lot of weight in my book :thumbsup2

Disneyprincessbelle - thanks for the tip to e-mail a picture of an idea. Congrats on your upcoming wedding! :lovestruc
