Official Dancing With the Stars - Fall 2019

DWTS intentionality recruits "celebrities" who can't dance, plus ringers Should the ringers be embarrassed too? I still say it's always been a popularity contest Master P may have stuck around longer if he had made a genuine effort and was more likable. Just my two cents...

I have watched since the first season. Even then there was drama over who won. It was between a General Hospital actress and John O'Hurley (best known from Seinfeld). If I remember correctly, he won but fans thought she should have won.

People act like Sean Spicer has stolen someone else's spot. Even if he wasn't there, it means another person would be there for only another week. So if he went this week, then Kate would probably have gone next week.

I agree it is a popularity contest. The season Jerry Springer was on, he seemed embarrassed that he kept being kept on and was happy when he was voted off.

if the judges are irritated they need to start judging Sean more harshly. That was not a 7-point dance. All their hand wringing won’t make a difference when people

it was Kate’s time to go and I’m ok with it. There are too many stars to distribute the vote amongst right now to overcome Sean’s fan base. I have a feeling he’ll make the final 3 just like many other fan favorites.
This is so true. 7's for that load of crap?? Why don't they give him the 4's he deserves. Probably because he would still make it through with fan votes and they know it.

It is so obvious that Len and the producers had set this up, giving Spicer low scores AND losing a dance-off, thinking that they could 'get rid of Sean'.
Lens comments were not even trying to hide that.
Clearly a way to negate and over-ride the voters.
There should be no effort to 'get rid of' ANYBODY.
The look on Len's face was more than priceless, and just what I expected. I imagine he came close to losing it in his pants!!

People, this is not an official professional dance competition.
This is an amateur voter participation entertainment show.

Anybody who is a notable amateur has a right to be there.
Why should anybody get to decide that someone has no right to be there.

I will start a new phrase here.
When posting on this 'keep it friendly' board.
"Careful, your hate is showing".

Ohhh, about Lauren...
OMG... this was the gown woman who was worried that 'Daddy might see my thigh'.
Who let her out of her cage!!!!!
I was thinking, Lauren, use it don't abuse it...
And, don't start learning to drive a sports-car in fourth gear. Put it in First, girl.
Hahahaha!!!
And, she just could NOT quit twerking, through-out the judges comments and everything.
Ohhhh jeez!!!!!

He got 7's which aren't bad scores and he's by far the worst dancer so of course he lost the dance off. No one is trying to rig anything to get him off the show. The voting system isn't transparent, they could just not count his votes if they were that intent on him leaving.

If anything, the producers want him to remain on the show for the controversy which means more eyeballs each week. For an entertainment show, the judges do take it seriously, so of course they don't like when a bad dancer gets to stay in the competition.

Perhaps! Controversy always brings ratings!!!

But, Len's comments last night clearly speak for themselves. There was no confusion or ambiguity there.
And, the look on his face was unbelievable!
Judges should be professional and show respect! (Len is the person I would be giving the boot.)
I think he/they thought that between the judges scoring, even at 7, and adding in losing the dance-off, that he would go home.
Maybe they thought that would happen, and then it wouldn't look like they gave him super low scores to 'get rid of' him.

It just bothers me when somebody thinks that somebody should be excluded, or the voters shouldn't count.
And, both of these things have been said here.

That is not how this works.
There is no qualifying round or extensive pre-requirements here.
It is an entertainment voter participation show.
It is what it is.

This is nothing new, or unique to DWTS.
Adam Lambert lost his season on American Idol.
And, so many other examples!

It is also about voter participation. (not just the professional judging of the dancing)
Just a reminder!!!!
Which is the only point I am making.
Not 'suggesting' anything at all.

It just bothers me when somebody thinks that somebody should be excluded, or the voters shouldn't count.

I don't get the shock that Spicer is still on, when there have been several other seasons where the not-very-good dancer has remained well after he/she should have been gone, if the show were only dependent on talent.

However, I think the judges have been very courteous to Spicer. I would assume (& maybe incorrectly) that politically they don't agree w/ Spicer, so I actually think they've all been very gracious to him.

And I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing for a judge, like Len, to point out - "Hey, you're not the best one here, & we keep voting you off while your fans keep voting you back on. But we appreciate your effort."

I read an article last week after Karamo Brown was voted off regarding his & Spicer's new friendship, & I hate the backlash Karamo has received for the comments he made.

Overall, I'm underwhelmed w/ this season.

James Van der Beek is really good, &, while Emma is lovely & talented, I would have liked to have seen him w/ someone like Sharna, who typically does more dramatic/passionate & romantic choreography.

I didn’t know anything about Karamo. Hhhhmmm????
I also am underwhelmed with this season. No great choreography a’la Derek. And James is really good, ally has sometimes been really good, and Hannah has sometimes been good, I have not been wowed!

And that is a good comment that Len hadn’t been overly rude to Spicer. But beginning like day one I have seen him be rude. Even rude to Bergeron! Just wanted to clarify.
And just to be honest, when is it okay for a judge who is supposed to be professional and fair and impartial to go further than the judging and commentary and say, basically, “ I / we keep trying to get-rid-of you”?

Cute opening number. Lol at Joey splitting his pants.

James' jive was great as expected. The arabesque into the roll... Come on! Other than Kel, I don't think anyone else could attempt that at this point.

I'm no fan of Hannah, but Idk how the judges can give her 8's when they just gave Clompy McClomperson 7's. Is she deserves 8's he deserves 5's for his dance.

I'm on the fence about liking Ally, but I love Sasha. So happy to see him with a competent partner. I remember when they used to stick him with all the older ladies.

I liked James’ dance. Well deserved 9’s.

Thank goodness Sean got a couple of 6’s. I did think he nailed that baby lift.

Hannah: I liked her outfit. Super 70’s cute. Agreed with judges assessment and the scoring.

So I’m jumping in here. I’m new to the thread but have been watching the whole season and am glad to find people to talk about it with! I just find ally boring and there’s something about her personality that I just don’t love. I wondered why there seemed to be such a push for her and I said to my mom Disney must have something planned for her. So then of course I had to look up the holiday specials and like Jordan did previously she will be performing....

I must admit I don’t hate Sean. I share absolutely none of the same politics as Sean but at least he gives it his all and he bores me less than some of the other dancers.
