Michelle Obama Gives Speech in Beaumont
(I love the interest students are taking in this election.)
"Michelle Obama receives a standing ovation as she graces the stage at Jefferson Theatre."....
....."A group of five West Brook High School newspaper students were among the first to come into the theater.
They are covering the primary as a class assignment. Last week, it was former President Bill Clinton and today it is Michelle Obama, section editor Katy Wiley, 18, said.
As the doors opened, some crowd members turned in campaign volunteer forms. About 500 were collected, a campaign organizer estimated.
The line, which began forming about 9 a.m., had grown to about 300 people by 11 a.m., officials said.
Supporters wrapped around the theater starting at the corner of Pearl and Fannin streets and wrapped around the Jefferson whipping back on Forsythe toward the Tyrrell Historic Library.
W. Joe Deshotel, Jefferson County Democratic Party executive director, said in the last week there has been a ground swell of excitement."
