Thanks for this.

I’m more of a direct owner/buyer, but even with these BLT “discounts” it’s still pricy. You could get about 2 BLT resale points for 1 direct.

Not often DVC offers a break on BLT but geez….
Wish they’d do something similar to OKW57 from a year or two ago.

Question. I have a 85 point BLT contract that has proven to be too small and a difficult use year. (because after we’ve started staying there I have come to really like it) Looking to use it between every other year and twice a year, a one bedroom with an occasional two bedroom. What would be an ideal number of points to purchase and why. Appreciate your input.

Corrected a mis auto check.

What is your typically trip length?

Do you think 4 trips every 3 years sounds about right?

Mostly 1BR, but 2BR every 3rd trip?

Thanks. Definitely looking for resale. We are blue card members from long ago. Can’t believe they want more than twice the sales price back in 2010, and that’s with incentives.

We usually do week long stays, which sonds like I will need 200-300 points if I want 11 month availability.

Yup, I have 230 pts at BLT, all resale.

I don't know if we'll ever see BLT be reasonably priced direct. Just like comparing resale BWV/BCV to direct BWV/BCV the differential between resale BLT and direct BLT is too great aside from at very small contract sizes where convenience might outweigh value. The price that Disney thinks it's worth isn't in the same stratosphere as what the resale market is demanding and I'm sure they don't mind because it's not like they have active sales inventory to get rid of.

I agree though, I wish they would do a firesale but I don't see a reason for them to. Better off just buying Poly if wanting direct at this point.

I got it in 2024 for 209 a point with the buyback program. My guide said it was the lowest he had seen in years.

Agreed - the delta between resale and direct is absolutely laughable. We got our last BLT contract at 110$ per point and I just could not comprehend the direct price of 275$ per point. For reference, we have bought VGC direct so I have tolerance for high pricing direct points but I cannot understand the BLT direct pricing. BLT resale points have been great SAP+ points for us.

Umh? Tell me more about the "buyback program" from 2024. What was that?
They bought my 2023 Dec UY points when I bought in September 2024. They pay you 20 dollars per point. I wasn't going to be able to use the 2023 points before they expired in December.

Ah, got it. Thanks. Currently known as the "magical beginning".

The BLT flash sale might not be too bad if you wanted October UY BLT points. So few resale contracts with that UY and when they're listed, they tend to command a pretty good premium from what I've seen. Most of the ones on the market right now are listed for over $160/point.
I have October UY with BLT and yes contracts are scarce. I don't remember the exact number but I think October is only 8% of the BLT contracts. When I bought in 2018 even Disney couldn't change the UY's so when I wanted to supplement with direct BLT October I had to be on a waitlist to do so.

This data is old, but given that only direct sales at "sold out" prices in recent years could have changed UYs, this is probably still pretty accurate.

There was a BLT firesale in February 2022 that brought the price pp to $202 at 200 pts, or $197 at 300 pts. https://dvcnews.com/dvc-program/fin...r-discounts-bay-lake-tower-up-to-48-per-point

There was no magical beginnings yet so these prices don't account for selling of the current UY points. We bought 200 BLT direct during this short sale and rented out the current UY pts for $3800, which then brought our total cost to $183 pp. Not bad for direct BLT! Still was $20 more pp than resale would have been at the time but I thought that delta was narrow enough to warrant buying direct and having the ability to combine with our RVA points. Plus we were able to choose our Oct UY, which as been stated is hard to come by resale, and we split the purchase into 150 and 50 pts in case we want to downsize later.

I wish they would bring back those firesales. Maybe it was a pandemic thing. They also had BWVs and AUL a few months before this for $130ish pp, which isn't bad for direct! I was tempted but BWV isn't DH's favorite and AUL is far... If it had been BCV I would have overlooked the 2042 expiration and bought, lol

Dang! I would have been interested in the 2022 BLT fire sale. But not sure I would have acted on it. Coming out of COVID and looking for a next job, preservation of money was more important.

Agree with your $183/pp assessment of being worth it. So, if resale was at that time was around $20 less back then, it seems to be around the $120s now. Wonder why the drop?

I didn't know it had dropped that much! Maybe the economy plus added MK availability since then. I was wondering if I misremember but no, this says in January 2022 average BLT was $169

I just took a look and I'm seeing most contracts in the $130s, just a few in the $120s. And Oct UY, which is what we have, in the $160s... I guess the latter makes me feel better, lol. But really, we've been able to combine with our RVA points for big stays there, and plan to book VDH when I can't get into VGC so I'm fine with my decision. Not to mention all the credit card sign up bonuses we earned buying direct. And so far, no plans to sell. 🤞

Similar. We do alternate years between WDW and Disneyland. No points at VGC but we have points at VDH. Having direct opens up VDH for our other points. Plus, with Disneyland Forward (assuming VDH is viewed a success to be determined), I could see a third DVC resort coming to Disneyland. That would be two out of three at Disneyland having the restricted points rule.

But who knows. This is all 2030's decade.

I bought a 160 point contract resale at the end of 2025 for 122 a point. Around that time I put in several offers that low and people seemed very OK with low 130.
