March Break at the Yacht Club! - UPDATED 07/21

Was that Noodle porn you posted? :scared1:

No wonder you had a crowd on hand.... Your ingenuity and creativity in composing that picture is to be commended and I'm sure it resulted in the direct return of the noodles.

All this makes me wonder what else you are capable of and if the authorities need to be notified....

As for your son you were right to ask him to attend the Bavarian Smorgasbord. Once he gets a gander at those dirndl wearin waitresses he will probably be first in line at the door on the next trip. As we say in our house "Mommy knows"...

Glad to see your report on Biergarten. I suppose after awhile, it's normal for family to bicker some on vacation. I don't have a teen so while I can't relate 100%, I will say that I think it's a good ule of thumb for everyone in a group to try to always have dinner together while on vacation. Thus I personally approve of your position on dinner with your son... But that's just one stranger's opinion! :rolleyes1

I really enjoyed all the lovely pictures you took of our resort and SAB. I have to admit that I am a bit weirded out by the ducks in the pool. I will keep the reason why to myself for now. Still, the pictures are very pretty!

And love your great pics of evening walk back to YC. :cloud9:

Great pictures!

Janet, thank you for taking the time and effort to post your trip report and all those great pictures. I have had those meals where you wish you had left the teen at home but time seems to fade the bad and only leave you with the good memories of the occasion. Thanks for doing all this.

So happy to hear everyone is enjoying the pictures. They really do bring back the best of the memories.

I'll trade you my surly pre-teen for your surly teenager! For a weekend. LOL

Lve your pictures. I have a nice point and shoot but I just sucked in getting any pictures on this trip! Glad you liked Biergarten. I can't imagine not getting anything to eat there (I mean, come on! Schnitzel!!!) unless you are a vegetarian. And even if you are, PRETZEL BREAD. LOL.

As I do recall, my son ate plenty of pretzel bread!

We should trade kids. I bet if we traded they would both be angels. Instead of the noodle swap, there could be a teen/pre-teen swap. We could just rotate the kids around the country all summer, and meet at the BC/YC to sort out who's who and bring the right ones home. (Note that I said the "right ones" implying that our own children might not be the best ones to bring home)

I LOVE this!!! I'm having serious spreadsheet envy, here. My spreadsheet wants to grow up and be your spreadsheet. :rotfl:

:rotfl2: Awesome!

Janet, I'm very much enjoying your report, and your pictures are fabulous!!

I would sometimes stare at the spreadsheet in anticipation of the trip. My husband would just roll his eyes.

I was quite pleased with the poster, so thank you for noticing it. Some might find the shower scene risque, so I probably should have put a viewers discretion note at the top of my report. Regardless of the PG content, it was worth it - even though I only had that poster up for a few seconds, the noodles were found soon after. Coincidence - I think not!

My son has a good poker face, so I don't know what he thought of the Bavarian uniforms, but regardless he knows when not to push me, and both he and my husband know there are times when it is best to just play along with what Mommy wants (and knows!)

I agree with you on families eating together, which is another reason I wasn't willing to just let that meal go.

As for the ducks... I was horrified on our first trip to WL when we saw a duck in the pool, and most certain that the Disney team would do something to show that duck who's boss and get them out of the pool. I soon came to realize that there are a lot of ducks at Disney and it isn't that easy to keep them out of the pools. So I took on a new attitude - if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I'm also thinking the chlorine in the pools helps to deal with the thing we shall not name here.

We have not tried Biergarten. My teen is a picky eater and I think we would have trouble convincing him to dine there.

I know what you mean about teens when it comes to dining choices. Times 14. Well, actually, the boys on my trip were awesome about where we ate- they let us choose. It was the adults who were cranky. OK, it was mostly me!

Had my heart set on Columbia Harbor House and Starring Rolls...

What beautiful pictures on your walk back to to the Yacht Club!!! I see you have employed my strategy. Take a gazillion photos and only post the great ones!

Too funny with the Noodle Flyer story!!! :lmao:

When I have time, I'm gonna take a closer gander at your spreadsheet! Love it!!!

Love the photos of the walk back home from epcot. Just makes me wish I was there! I've never been to Biergarten to eat but face the same challenges when we insist on eating in Tutti Italia with my picky kids-still make them go though:rotfl:
Figure if they're hungry enough they'll eat and if they don't well there's always breakfast tomorrow:lmao:

Spent some time yesterday looking at loads of point and shoot cameras-we have the same makes here that you and Dee talk about but not always the same models:confused3 Really really want to buy one before the next trip to the world so now I just need to decide which one:)

Does this mean you didn't get to eat at Columbia Harbour House? :sad1:

I think teens are more agreeable about what to eat when they are in a group. I know I'm always surprised at what my son will eat when out with his friends.

You can examine my spreadsheet as closely as you like. :)

I'm all for making food available to my son and not worrying if he doesn't eat it. I've never been one to cook separate food for him. I try to plan meals we all like, but if he doesn't like it, too bad there isn't anything else. (Mean mom :rotfl:)

A part of me wants my camera to die, just so I can buy a new one. I love my camera but some of the newer ones look so pretty. (I should never have put that in print. You know my camera is going to get payback but breaking down at the most inconvenient time.)

One of the battles I lost during the trip.

I have to say that I was pretty pleased with my Lumix point & shoot/ waterproof camera on this trip. Although I had the Olympus along for backup, I never had to use it.

Best pictures I have gotten on Tower of Terror and Everest.

I did get to make use of the waterproof features in the pool, in the drenching rain, but sadly, not on Kali.

Another

Oooooh Dee I was able to find that camera locally and the price was within my budget too! Think I'm going to have another look at it on Monday. Would go tomorrow but it's Father's Day here so figure it would be a bit iffy if I treated myself then:rotfl:

It must have been so hard not to visit/eat at places you knew were good on your trip! So close and yet so far:mad:

I would have been the same way about insisting dinner as a family. I'm like that in my everyday life too......no matter what else is going on, we will have dinner as a family. We are going on the Fantasy for Christmas 2013 and I have already laid down the law that they can be in the teen club all day but they will be joining us for dinner every night. I want them to have a great time but I also want to stay connected and dinner is a great way of making sure we touch bases with each other. ;)

I agree with this approach! We go to an all inclusive resort for a week every summer. Our rule is always you can do whatever you want, whenever you want, as long as you show up in front of the main inn at Noon and 6:00 pm. That way we all just float around freely but still have all our meals together.

And of course, although my son puts on an act of not wanting to do what we want, we still wind up spending most of the rest of the day together anyway as he shows up wherever we sit ourselves down. :)

On Thursday morning we started off the day by sleeping in and then walking over to Hollywood Studios. Love that you can walk or boat to two parks from the YC! We walk a lot at home, so we were all looking forward to the morning walk to HS. It is a nice stroll along the water.

The first thing we did was head to TOT to pick up some fast passes. My husband was done with the ride but my son and I still had another go left in us. We had no plans that day other than a dinner ADR at 6, so we weren’t in a hurry and were really just killing time. With no specific agenda, after we had fast passes in hand, we decided to just wander over to the Streets of America and hang out for a bit. I love wandering through HS and seeing all that is going on.

After hanging out and enjoying the quiet for a bit we went off in search of lunch. Along the way we realized that I’ve never posed with the snowman, so we took some more pictures.

For lunch we chose Pizza Planet. Pizza is an easy choice for the teen, so it was what he was most passionate about. Here is the menu for anyone who is in planning mode and wants to know what they offer.

The food was good but the atmosphere is loud and not at all relaxing. I’d eat here again if we were there and needed food, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

After lunch we spent some time hanging out on Hollywood Boulevard watching a show.

Next up, off to use the TOT fast passes.

After TOT we spent a long time watching the Dating Game Show. It was great. I could just sit on the streets at HS and watch the shows and antics all day long.

After the show ended we headed back to the boats to head back to our room to nap.

Well that’s enough prattling on for one day. Next up, dinner at Teppan Edo. Spoiler alert – Mmmm!

What a fun, low-key morning at the Studios.

That is such a great park to soak in the atmosphere.

Looking forward to reading about your meal!

It was so nice to have the low-key morning. The crowds were so thick during our stay that we enjoyed just taking some time to sit on the quiet stoop and chill out for a while.

Ok...the people in front of you as you headed to TOT...what exactly did they need to carry with them at the parks that they all needed backpacks that full? Less is more people!

:rotfl2:Have these people not heard of the merits of the drawstring bag then:confused::rotfl2:

:rotfl2:

Clearly they did not learn the DisBoard packing tips.

Even before I learned to use the drawstring back, I never carried more than a small purse. There is no way I'd want to be running around a park burdened like that. I'm guessing they were staying off-site (shudder)

I have a theory!

It's obvious that they are carrying ice packs and Oreo Bon bon's. They look like they escaped from Club level. They have that desperate look in their eye (um, the one in the back of their head... yeah, THAT'S it!) The realization has set in that Today is Oreo bon bon day and tomorrow is not, and they are struggling to deal with the reality of that. They must have had a hissy fit when they were told about the abbreviated Oreo Bon Bon schedule, decided to pack up and move on. Obviously they are checking for room availability at the Tower of Terror. Hopefully Janet told them their Bon bon's would get dusty if they stayed at the Tower. Hopefully the zipper on the back pack was not fully closed and Janet could reach in and take a free sample.

Just remember. I don't charge for my analyzation skills. These are provided for free. Aren't we lucky?
