Starting to get very excited about our first family trip to WDW. We will be staying at OKW in a 2 bed. and just want to make sure I don't forget anything.

I've been reading the board and know that I should bring dishwashing tablets, laundry soap and dryer sheets. Anything else?

Is soap and shampoo provided?

Any other tips to help make this a wonderful vacation?

Thanks for any help and Aloha!

Jennifer:)

You get soap and shampoo, but we always bring our own. It's a little amount and I guess I am silly, but I hate to mess up Mickey's face on that cute bar of soap.:D

Dishwash detergent is there along with dishwash soap. There are paper towels, too.

We do bring extra laundry soap and dryer sheets. I also bring the dye magnet so I don't have to sort out my clothes while on vacation! We just throw everything in the laundry basket and I do one load an evening.

Bring salt and pepper and any other spices you may want for meals. I also bring ziploc bags for left overs. We eat breakfast and dinner in the villa, so we get groceries before we get to the resort.

When are you going to be there? We will be there in four weeks! You will love it! Have a wonderful trip!!!!

Thanks Kathy!

We will be there May 18th -25th and then we are on to Horizons Marriott May 25-June 1.

Any buildings or location that we should request?

Aloha!

We have been at all five areas and each view from the villa is beautiful! It depends on what you are interested in. If you like peace and quiet, Turtle Pond area is great. It is near the rear of the resort and close to a pool that has a snack bar.

I like Pennisular Road area a lot although we only got a view of the golf course vs. water, but it was just a hop skip and a jump to the Hospitality House where the biggest pool/play area/Olivias/etc is. Also, it is the first bus stop on the internal bus route, so if you miss your bus to your destination, then you only have to walk to the Hospitality House to catch that same bus before it heads onto the parks.

There is a map here on this site; it is a very big resort.

Everyone has their likes and dislikes for floors, but we like the first floor because we like to be up close to the ducks and bunnies that come up to the porch; my children love to feed them. We also don't like climbing all the stairs after a long day in the park. Other people don't like hearing little footie steps above them, so they ask for the higher floors.

Don't forget to try out the jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom! It is wonderful after a long day in the park. Remember not to put too much bubble bath in it or the tub will over flow with bubbles when you turn on the jets!

Have a great trip! Hope to see you there!!! (you have a long trip coming from Hawaii, huh?...I thought we were coming a long way from Arizona!!!)

Don't forget extra coffee and some of those round filters. Or you can buy a 10 pack of coffee where each makes four cups. Maxwell House. Take snacks. We always bring some water and take it to the parks, At night we refill the bottle and refreeze.
Breakfast stuff. Extra laundry detergent. On T & T day they bring some more soap and shampoo. As mentioned some extra soap.
The 2 BR is great.

We like bringing breakfast and extra coffee so we don't have to rush in the mornings. Bring extra detergent and dryer sheets (we try to pack for 3 days for a 7 day stay). We also bring snacks, drinks, water just to have around.

We also bring our own soap and shampoo. (we give the Mickey soap and shampoo as gifts to those who couldn't come and share the magic).

We like staying on the ground floor near the Hospitality House - don't like climbing stairs and we like being close to our car - but I understand buildings 62-64 have elevators (we will check this out on 5/1/2002).

OKW is a big resort and beautiful. If you get a chance rent the Surrey bikes and ride around the resort. We truely enjoyed this - it gave us a chance to relax between the park activity.

Have a wonderful stay and don't forget to bring some of the magic home with you.:)

Kathy - what is a dye magnet? It would be great to do all the laundry in one load.

Jennifer - everyone has given you some great suggestions. In addition to bringing ziplock bags, I also bring a roll of saran wrap.
Have a great trip!

They are in the wash section in the grocery store. The ones I have used are by Woolite and they are Dye trapping sheets, add a sheet to the laundry. I don't use them all the time at home, but have found that the clothes are fine using the dye magnet sheet while on vacation; who wants to separate clothes while vacationing???

Thank you all for the great replies!

This board has been immensely helpful with ideas and suggestions.

Aloha,
Jennifer
