If you have your Alamo confirmation number, you can do online checkin, enter the 2nd driver info, and skip the counter completely. I book my Alamo rentals through Costco and always do online checkin and add my additional driver at that time.
Wait....Alamo insider gets you a 2nd driver free? how did I miss this?

Hello all, popping in again with another issue/question lol.

I'm on the phone right now with Chase Travel. Trying to use UR points to book a room, but the Disney Resort (FW Cabins) aren't showing on their portal....come to think of it, I don't think I saw any besides S&D.

So first lady I talked to searched, but couldn't get any to pull up. I'm on hold now to talk to someone else. Anyone know how this works, I was thinking they could pretty much book any disney resort, they would just have to call Disney...that's what they did last time (to apply my ap discount anyway).

When are you trying to book for? Can you see the cabins on Disney's website when you search for them? Chase can only book what Disney actually has availability for on their website, so if you can't see it on Disney, Chase can't get it for you either.

I thought Chase could only book it if Expedia had it as available in their inventory since that’s the inventory Chase draws from as that’s the wholesaler they book through. After they are able to book it then they call and add the discount.

All that said the Cruise and Tour Dept has more access to the Disney system, similar to a TA. I would try them next and see if they can pull up availability direct with Disney just it’s possible and confirm they can apply your AP discount.

If they can’t look into booking it with Disney and transferring it to Chase. There are writeups on that in the Reddit thread you should review first :)

So thinking to myself, would this be a situation in which I could book myself through Disney and then transfer the reservation to Chase?

It's the reverse...I see availability on Disney but not on the Chase UR system. So I called...they aren't showing any avail. on any Disney resorts. I talked to 2 people, the last being a manager. She said if it's not in their (being Chase's UR) system, they can't book it. She checked with one partner vendor (as she called it) and they also weren't showing any availability.

I thought Chase could only book it if Expedia had it as available in their inventory since that’s the inventory Chase draws from as that’s the wholesaler they book through. After they are able to book it then they call and add the discount.

I was thinking you were already on the phone with Cruise and Tour. I would try them, if that's not who you're already talking to. I've booked through them twice and both times they've been able to see exactly what I'm seeing on the Disney website.

And yes, if Cruise and Tour can't get it, book with Disney and transfer to Chase :)

Thanks, I think that's what I'll do book through Disney and then try to transfer. To add, Chase said they had no Disney Resorts in their system (besides S&D), Expedia was showing more..not the cabins but other resorts. I asked the lady about that, she said just b/c Expedia has it doesn't mean they do...but not sure if she was correct.

Wondering if now would be a good time to pick up Chase's Marriott cards before they add a restriction that denies bonuses if you received a SPG bonus in the past 24 months. Unfortunately, I just picked up the CIC last month and the SPG personal in April, and I don't want to push my luck with the Marriott 100k offer before it expires 7/12.

The rumor mentions Amex teaming up with Chase, or maybe Marriott insisting on the limitation. If Amex can deny you a bonus based on information about your cards and bonuses from Chase; Chase could deny you a bonus based on information about your cards and bonuses from Amex. Chase already has a "one Marriott (consumer) card" rule, so its possible as Marriott and SPG merge Chase may view SPG cards as part of the Marriott family of cards.

Hmm, dh is 2/24 and just approved for CIC today. Would it be totally risky to go for Marriott card? I am 5/24, maybe I should pick up the marriott biz...

I don't want to get locked out since we have gotten SPG bonuses in last several months!

hmmnnn, interesting.

I have SPG biz and personal and DH has SPG biz. I was hoping to get him the new spg amex when it comes out. I assume I won't be eligible since I have a personal SPG, or is that not correct?

Neither of us have marriott cards. Like Wendow I am wondering if we should get personals now. I have no immediate use for them so they weren't even on my radar.

That DOC article seems to think that personal and biz SPG are not being included in this, for some reason.

We are about $3500 into the spend on DH's hilton biz card. I app'd and approved for my own hilton biz this morning. Nothing like waiting til the last day. :rolleyes1 I was trying to spread out the spend, so I waited on purpose. DD's fall college tuition is coming up, so if I need to pay the fee to meet the spend that will be an easy way to do it, but I bet I can do t organically without paying any fees. And in other news, they didn't give me a $1k CL this time. :rotfl2:

But can you hold more than one type of personal spg amex?...like how chase now limits the family of cards to just 1...

Thanks! With third party, does it need to be purchased prior to PIF? I plan on submitting my final payment on Friday and am wondering if I need to buy the insurance before then. My TA said DCL insurance had to be purchased before PIF, but I was looking at another policy yesterday that didn't seem to specify that.

We always book last minute rates and PIF at time of booking. I believe they just require you purchase within a certain amount of time after booking.

Yea approval, with some extra happy dancers for an actual CL this time!

@wendow - do you or DH have any of Chase's Marriott cards (old Premier, new Premier Plus, Marriott Biz, Ritz-Carlton) or received a signup or upgrade bonus on any of those cards in the past 24 months?

The relevant part of DoC's rumor is:
- American Express plans to exclude anybody who has received a sign up or upgrade bonus on any Ritz-Carlton/Marriott credit card in the past 24 months (including Marriott business).
- You will also be excluded if you currently hold or have recently held the Ritz-Carlton [and I'm guessing Marriott] card.
- [American Express] won’t look at whether you’ve had an SPG personal/business card.

So to @disneymagicgirl 's question, if you don't have any Marriott/Ritz-Carlton cards with Chase or received a bonus on a Marriott/Ritz-Carlton card in the past 24 months (and you've only had SPG cards with Amex), you should be able to sign up for the new Amex SPG Luxury when it comes out on 8/1/18.

I have the Marriott Biz, so I may be SOL for the SPG Luxury. But my wife doesn't have any Marriott/Ritz-Carlton cards with Chase (and has only had the SPG Biz), so it may not make sense for her to go for the Marriott cards before going for the SPG Luxury.

My concern is that Chase may implement a corollary rule that bars a signup bonus on its Marriott Premier Plus, Marriott Biz, and new Marriott Biz (rumored to release 8/26) if you have a Marriott/Ritz-Carlton/SPG card or received a bonus on these cards in the past 24 months come 8/1. There's no language like that right now, but we've seen that Chase can implement these "one card/bonus per family rules" into their terms very quickly (e.g., the Sapphires, SW consumer cards, and Marriott consumer cards).

But can you hold more than one type of personal spg amex?...like how chase now limits the family of cards to just 1...

Yes. For example, you can hold all 3 personal Hilton cards (HH, Ascend, Aspire) and the Hilton Biz card if you'd like.

BUT, unlike Chase, Amex limits you to holding only 4-5 credit cards at a time (some people have 5-6 because their Amex cards were converted from other issuers). This limitation does not count Amex's charge cards.

So if you have the SPG Biz, SPG personal, Hilton Biz, that's 3 credit cards, and you have maybe 2 open slots for more Amex credit cards until you cancel something.

Thanks! I understand the rumor better now, and no, we have no Marriott cards and never have. We each have spg personal and dh has spg biz.

Another question - does Chase look at all credit extended to a person or just credit that Chase extended? Deciding if I should lower some of DH limits before he applies for the CSP.

Does anyone have any thoughts on cruise trip insurance? I've looked on the cruise board and opinions seem to be 50/50 on going with the insurance through DCl vs. a third party. Through DCl it would be $320 and through a third party about $200. We haven't ever insured our previous cruises but feel like it's a wise thing to do. We aren't flying to the port, so the fact that DCL insurance doesn't cover flights doesn't matter to us.

If anyone has any thoughts on this, I'd love to hear them!
I don't know about full "cruise insurance", but on our cruise in April (which was our first), I did buy supplemental international health insurance. It was like $10 a day and ended up saving me $150 net as I did visit the clinic for a minor eye infection. I was SO GLAD I had bought that insurance and will definitely do it again.

It used to. There was confusion :) They’re now thinking that may be a Costco benefit as they booked via Costco. I’ve asked Alamo on Twitter about it, will report back.

When I’ve booked with Alamo logged into my insider account I’ve always gotten a second driver free...just checked the reservation I made for September last month and it’s there..hopefully they didn’t take this away

I was looking at the chase site yesterday for Disney hotels and found nothing for any dates that I put in, except swolphin. Last week there were plenty. Not sure what's up with that.
