Personally, I'd stay away from immediate adjacency to the elevators. They're the new kind that not only have a ring tone when the elevator opens but also an English announcement ("Seventh Floor!"). Ugh.

But, perhaps the soundproofing is so good it's negligible. Someone needs to report back!

I believe this is due to ADA, so if you are blind or sight impaired, you know the floor the elevator has stopped at.
