I love credit cards so much!

It's not because you hit a bonus on their bank accounts. SO many churners have been churning Chase bonuses for years. They would have shut down your bank account, not a business credit card. I did once see a dp on someone's Chase bank account being shutdown but they were going for like their 8th chase checking bonus and the only thing shutdown was their bank account. GOOD LUCK!!!

I agree the bank bonuses seem unlikely to have anything to do with this and it’s probably just coincidence that I closed down my bank accounts just a couple of months before applying for the CIP. I’m just trying to think of something they would view as suspicious activity to take this action. Maybe I should have just left those accounts open rather than closing then shortly after I earned the bonuses.

But it always comes back around to why they only closed my CIP and not my personal credit cards. That makes no sense and hopefully I’ll get some answers soon.

Now that everyone has encouraged me to bust out of 5/24, I feel like I'm rolling in credit card offers. I just got an email for the Delta Gold card for 50,000 miles after $1,000 spent. Has anyone else received this offer, or is this pretty standard right now? DH already has the Delta Gold card from many years ago, so he can't get it.

To be honest, i think theres too many Marriott Cards out there... i count... 6 cards in total by Aug 1st.
cant imagine how much points will be out there with that many cards.
cant imagine the # of free nights that will be redeemed with that many cards.

it sounds like Marriott's making the call and not Amex/Chase. cuz 24 months bonus on Amex is a chase/citi thing, not amex.

It was their decision to add free nights to the SPG's. And their decision to 'upgrade' the Marriott personal card - personally I don't see it as much of an upgrade and I don't intend to upgrade my old Marriott card to the new version for a piddly 10K points. Marriott has obviously had a say in all this - especially the matching of the card benefits. Perhaps they expected a couple of the cards to just disappear and have now figured out that this may not happen - that people will try to hold all versions of their cards. I have one SPG and 2 Marriotts - I want the luxury card but not by losing my 'old' personal card. I saw it as an extra benefit not as a replacement benefit. Time will tell. But, there is no time like the present to do things - I should have gone for the SPG biz, but I didn't and now its waiting to see if it gets better, so this rumor sucks.

Does anyone have any thoughts on cruise trip insurance? I've looked on the cruise board and opinions seem to be 50/50 on going with the insurance through DCl vs. a third party. Through DCl it would be $320 and through a third party about $200. We haven't ever insured our previous cruises but feel like it's a wise thing to do. We aren't flying to the port, so the fact that DCL insurance doesn't cover flights doesn't matter to us.

If anyone has any thoughts on this, I'd love to hear them!

I have a question I think I know the answer to:

I am removing DH as AUs on my CSP and CF. His cards are still usable, correct since they have my account number on them? Merchants will not know that I have removed him from these card, right?

I wonder if they will be able to tell if i bought an MO though. I went yesterday and got two so I’ll see. There is a concerning comment that MOs at Walmart are hardcoded against discover debit now. I tried to get two a few weeks ago and got delicined. I thought it was a fraud alert but I called discover and they didn’t even see an attempted transaction. I went yesterday and everything was fine though.

I have to imagine, because I don't have a Discover checking :), that the MO's terminals code differently than just a Walmart purchase (or whomever). It's possible they threw it in there to cover themselves if they found out by other means, but it seems more plausible that they are able to see what purchases were MO's and then decided to update the terms. Some bean counter with a spreadsheet probably figured it out. What seems sticky is the PP/Venmo, cuz they said all P2P is banned but just SOME purchases may not be eligible. I'm guessing there they don't have a definitive way to identify between the two 100% of the time so they're covering the butts for when some transactions don't pay out (or still pay out).

Always concerning when hard coding come into play (darn you Target/Best Buy with the GC's!) but I'm wondering if that commenter had the same issue you did where maybe it was an actual glitch and not a beta test. At least I hope it was for you :)

We always do third party. We look at insure my trip and find what works for cheapest for that particular cruise. We've never had to use it so can't speak for that, just price wise we prefer third party. Most cruises we drive to since we are in Florida so we also aren't concerned with covering flights.

I last got a Marriott bonus 9/16 so I’m hoping I’ll be good for the new spg card this fall. Need it for Europe 2019. Glad I held off from upgrading my Marriott!

DW got this card a few weeks ago with a 60,000 for 1k spend. That offer expired on 6/20 so it may be that the 50k is the best available right now.

Edit: I should also add that the 60k offer seemed to be targeted - you had to enter your Skymiles # to see if you qualified.

Thanks! With third party, does it need to be purchased prior to PIF? I plan on submitting my final payment on Friday and am wondering if I need to buy the insurance before then. My TA said DCL insurance had to be purchased before PIF, but I was looking at another policy yesterday that didn't seem to specify that.

Hello all, popping in again with another issue/question lol.

I'm on the phone right now with Chase Travel. Trying to use UR points to book a room, but the Disney Resort (FW Cabins) aren't showing on their portal....come to think of it, I don't think I saw any besides S&D.

So first lady I talked to searched, but couldn't get any to pull up. I'm on hold now to talk to someone else. Anyone know how this works, I was thinking they could pretty much book any disney resort, they would just have to call Disney...that's what they did last time (to apply my ap discount anyway).

I've always gotten trip insurance through a third party for my cruises, and thankfully, have never needed it. My TA suggested using a third party instead of Disney because of price and have just gone that route. And we fly to the port, but I'm not concerned about the flights as much as I am the cruise fare itself.

When are you trying to book for? Can you see the cabins on Disney's website when you search for them? Chase can only book what Disney actually has availability for on their website, so if you can't see it on Disney, Chase can't get it for you either.

I got 60,000 miles for $3k (But I think it was split, like 50k for $2k in 3 months and 10k for $1k in 6 months) plus a $50 statement credit for making a Delta purchase within 3 months. Idk if that’s the best offer on it. They seem to put this out every few months. Sometimes as a public and referred offer, sometimes just as a referred offer. I’m looking for it to come out again in the next couple months if it holds to the recent patterns.

I asked about it on Reddit too and someone said at one time it was as high as 75k. The offer is good until the end of July, it's just intriguing to me because of the low MSR. I could knock it out quickly and move on to the next card while banking those points.

It's the reverse...I see availability on Disney but not on the Chase UR system. So I called...they aren't showing any avail. on any Disney resorts. I talked to 2 people, the last being a manager. She said if it's not in their (being Chase's UR) system, they can't book it. She checked with one partner vendor (as she called it) and they also weren't showing any availability.
