Have a Photopass Question? Ask me!

We will have a group of 10 of us and will be there in a week. I wanted to get the MM. But there will be lots of times when our group will be split up doing our own thing. Will we all be able to get pics added to the ONE MM in this case? And if so, how do we do this? We are staying off site. 5 of us are AP holders and have magic bands from previous on-site trips. The other 5 will have regular park hoppers.

Yes and no. You can always add regular photos by PP photographers to a MM. It's very easy to do and takes just a few minutes. However, you may have a hard time getting attraction and dining photos without the MM card. The 5 of you with magic bands can link the card to your band and will be perfectly fine going to attractions and dining. However, as weird as it sounds, the attraction photo CM will add the ride photos to a magic band but not to a regular white PP cards. So if you did split up make sure the non-band people hold on to the MM. You can then combine everything together at the end of the trip. You may miss a ride photo or two depending on how everyone splits up but you should be good with 95% of your photos. See my last post for view station locations. I hope that's not too confusing!

Do I have to add Extra PP cards to my MM at a viewing station? Can I just add extra cards when I am home and ready to download?

Thanks in advance,

Yes, but it really is easier to do it in the park. We can scan the card(s) and have it automatically combined versus you sitting at home typing in the 12 digit codes for each card.

I just saw on another thread that is was announced, starting today, that ride photos will automatically load to magic bands. So no more stopping at the ride photo shop with the number to scan the band?

If you have a magic band and memory maker linked to your account then yes.

That answer doesn't quite make sense, because not every member of a family rides every ride, and not every member has MM. Usually only one member of the family has MM, and the pictures still load because they are connected thru FF.

Preemlemama's point was that you no longer have to got to the ride photo counter to get the MB scanned. Is that part true?

Even though one person may be in charge of the MM, they can link their reservation together as "family and friends." When that is done anyone can take pictures, have it scanned to their band, and all the photos will show up online. It's a common misconception that only one member of the party can scan their band but really if everything is set up correctly everyone should be able to get photos.

As for the ride photos, from my understanding there is a band reader installed either in the ride vehicle or in a part of the ride, so when the photo is taken it automatically scans the band so when you get off the ride the photo is already there. I'm not sure if this is works with the regular MM card and it probably doesn't scan the attractions+ cards since they don't have a chip. They have been testing this and I have noticed that people will come up to the view stations with ride photos automatically added to their band even if they didn't get them. My advice would be to double check the photos get added since the system is so new. Remember, we (photographers) can't find or search for ride photos with our computers in the view station.

THAT'S the answer to the question! :thumbsup2

Photos usually take a few hours to make it online, but yes it's easy to link everything together. Just remember that you can't view photos on the iPhone and iPad because the devices don't carry Flash, which is how the photos are uploaded.

Exactly- and thank you! We used the PP+ card last year, and I was hoping that this year with the bands we would be able to just let it be scanned automatically. It was not a big deal to get the card scanned, but it got redundant by the end of the week. I know, there are worse things...

Sorry if this has been asked already but can two different families going at the same time share a memory maker? How will that work with the magic bands on the rides with the new way it automatically goes to your MM?

This was just answered:

So anyone connected to the person with the MM can have ride photos automatically scanned to the band on the ride. But you have to be connected in MDE.

That's so cool!! I was on the fence about memory maker but I'm so getting it for my upcoming trip with 2 families.

Any everyone who is in FF will be able to view the pics. But only the person who "owns" MM will be able to download them.

But of course, once you have downloaded them, you can do whatever you want with them. Print them, send them, etc.

Thanks ChanaC for sharing all these precious information. Noting down what I need to know. Just got a couple of questions to ask.

1) I am from overseas, if I order MM do I got to get a MM card? Will they be like my Magic Band, waiting for me to pickup when I check in Disney Resort?
2) I heard people recommend to get an extra PP card to scan just in case the band doesn't scan, where can I get the extra PP card then and do I need to link it back to my MM? If so will I got duplicate photos in my MM?
3) Does Duffy normally have long queues for Photos?
4) Is there PP Photographer in Disney Down Town?

I am doing a solo trip in Aug. And it is my first ever trip to WDW. So I guess having MM will help me capture all those memories.

One more question about viewing from Photopass site. You all mentioned that cannot be view from Apple device due to the flash thing. Is it possible to be view using the Puffin browser app? This browser will load flash webpages on Apple devices without any problem. Then I don't need to bring my MacBook all the way with me just to check the photos taken in park is on my MM or not every night.

Not sure if you can help me on this or not but here goes. When purchasing the MM in advance does the 3 day window (that pictures must be purchased separately) include the day of purchase? For example I purchased the MM today, Wednesday. Will I be able to use it this Saturday at Epcot? I meant to purchase it last night and got busy with other pre-trip stuff and woke up realizing I may need to put Epcot on my sisters MM. Thanks!

72 hours after purchase. Timer starts the second you buy. So if you bought it today at 1pm, a photo taken at 1255pm Saturday would not be included but 1:05 pm would.

Thank you! I bought around 5 am so it should be in affect by rope drop. We will be with my sister and her family and they have their on MM so we will be doubling up anyways.

Hi!

1. I'm not sure about what happens before you get to the park. Sorry! I do think it will automatically be on your magic band. They will explain it to you when you check in at the hotel.
2. If your band doesn't scan the photographer will give you a new card. Then you can take it to the camera center and they will add the photos back to your band. Occasionally people get duplicate photos but you can delete them online later.
3. Duffy's line is never too long. You can only meet him in one place - at Epcot in World Showcase just before Mexico. He has a gazebo he meets under.
4. The only photographers in Downtown Disney are in the Bippiddi Boppiddi Boutique.

I'm not sure about Puffin (never heard of it before). You can bring your Macbook if you want but you can also go to any view station and view your photos there. Lot's of people do! There is one in every park, the waterparks during the summer, downtown disney, and some of the resorts (Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Yacht Club, and Animal Kingdom Lodge).
