Everthing you wanted to know about Uber/Lyft at WDW

I know you say you "should" tip. But please be completely honest, do most Uber drivers rate their customers very low if they don't?
Personally, I won't downrate a rider just for not tipping, because so few do. But if they give me another reason to downrate them, I may be more forgiving when they leave a tip.

Looking to go from Coronado Springs to Boardwalk to eat at Flying Fish next Wednesday around 5:30 or 6. I won't have a reservation, so will that cause problems with drop-off at Boardwalk?

When you get in my car you start at 5 stars. No tip? Lose one star. Treat me like your personal slave? Lose one star. Complain about things I have no control over? Lose one star

If taxi drivers get a percentage of the fares and expect a tip, then why shouldn't we? Most of my fares get 4 stars for the sole reason of no tipping. Just throw me a buck. At least your heart was in the right place. When I was in WDW and was a rider, I went from AK to OKW, dropped off some bags and then went to DTD. Whatever the fare was I gave the driver $5. Just paying it forward.

Not to turn this into an Uber drivers' thread, but ....

IMO "paying it forward" goes for ratings, too. I don't fault someone for not doing something that they've repeatedly been told is not expected of them. I like to be cut some slack, so I do the same unless I have a good reason not to.

We are doing EMM at MK one morning, coming from the Boardwalk. I am hoping to use Uber but we have 2 adults, 3 kids (one is 2.5) so will need an Uber XL plus carseat. What are the chances one will be available around 7 a.m.? I've never used Uber in Disney, but have plenty of times back home and have never had an issue, but know it's extremely local. If an Uber isn't available, is a cab a back-up option, can the concierge help with that? TIA.

Any thoughts on this? Thank you.

If no one chimes in you can check for yourself, if you are up at 7:00 am. Just enter Boardwalk as your pick up, select the car and see how many are in the area over several days.

Thank you. I will try that, although we're doing it at the front end of our trip so won't have that many days to gather data. Also wondering what our back up plan should be and if cabs are readily available. We've only ever taken the buses/monorail. Thanks again.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. You can actually check from right at home. Just type in the location, rather than letting the GPS locate you.

Planned on using uber 2 times, wound up using it 4 times.. LOVED IT.. I admitted to becoming an uber junkie this week. The ease of us, price, and service was just great.

My friends and I are at the parks right now and are using Uber the entire trip.

We're staying offsite at a vacation condo, so taking an UberXL (there's 5 of us) from MCO to the condo cost about $82 ($17/person) ... we weren't expecting it to be that expensive, but we didn't realize how far the Disney parks were from the airport. But since we've been at the condo, most UberXL trips have cost us around $15-$25.

We do try to tip for the convenience and service, but sometimes none of us don't have cash (hasn't happened yet, but it's inevitable). I wish Uber just included a tipping option like Lyft to make it easier. I'd hate to have my rating lowered just because we didn't tip ...

Theres not. But honestly, I really dont see you having trouble getting an xl or higher to do that trip. I know Id take it.

So to recap...got back early Tuesday AM...on Sunday morning in Tampa, took our reserved Uber to Orlando. Nice driver. Drive took us about 1hr 20min (driver took a 15 min break). Cost 74 dollars. Not bad but next time we will just fly into MCO directly!

so for everyone that reads this and concerned. You can request your rating before you rate the driver you just had.. if your rating goes down, then rate the driver accordingly. ratings are now instant to get back so it doesn't take long to find out if they didn't give you a fair rating. To have some water with uber (aka to have them take it seriously), don't try to give them a 1, but rate them accordingly to how they were and the condition of their car.. fill out the little boxes of what was good and leave the bad things empty.

I hate to say it but prices went up the same day they raised the minimum. Sorry they didn't tell you and I hope you are getting more money but trips that were $7 went to $12 that same day. I'm less likely to tip unless there was something special about the trip at the current prices and you should talk to your business partner about that. If I needed to teach you where the ttc or any guest dropoff is, you should be tipping me not the other way around. If I needed to use the trunk, we got stuck in traffic, I decided to take a surge price (which is really hard to tell lately btw) then I'll be tipping in kind. most drivers act shocked when you tip them, even if they have signs in their car. Some won't take it. I will say 1 thing, if uber added a tip the driver button when I rate you, your more likely to get a tip from me. I don't usually have small bills in my pocket even if I wanted to tip you.

This was me the last trip. Granted, I could have and should have tried to break a $50 so I had some smaller change.

We plan on taking an Uber from a Disney Springs hotel to Epcot on a morning when it opens at 9:00am. We would like to be at Rope Drop (8:30) to get to Frozen Ever After right away. What time should our Uber pick us up? Should we get dropped off at the front entrance to Epcot or the International Gateway area/Boardwalk Inn?

For sure at the main gate. You'd have to walk all the way around past the World Showcase Plaza, to get to Norway from IG. So you'd end up crossing the same path you'd take if you just came in the front. I'd get picked up at 7:30 myself, so you aren't rushed. Bag check at Epcot can REALLY back up

My husband has a conference at a Disney Springs hotel and we're thinking about booking Pop the entire trip and he use Uber to get to the conference each day. So from what I understand, we can schedule a car to pick him up at the Pop lobby each morning. He'll need to be there around 8 each morning, should we allow 45 min or more for him to get there?
